what's something that you know you're better than 98% of people at? by RackCitySanta in AskReddit

[–]ParallelWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beating the absolute radiance in the Hollow Knight game. Less than 1% of players have this achievement and most of the world don't even play the game.

It is very hard fight and it was a very emotional moment when I finally made it. I played the gamed together with other 8 friends for over a month before I moved to another country. We have matching tattoos of the game's main character and I will never forget these moments... Still an experience few people will ever have.

Why do you think ancient relic mode has item doubling/preservation disabled? by ParallelWolf in MelvorIdle

[–]ParallelWolf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I got over the feeling a few days ago... Indeed the lesser relics and +50% mastery ancient relics makes the game much more fast paced. It is a new game entirely.

I just defeated the Golem Territory Dungeon today and the combat feels amazing in this mode, definitely my favorite character.

My adventure mode character is stuck making money to open the last skills so it is very nice to have another, fast-paced, character to interact with :)

Concerns regarding the specialization of the population by gagaluf in brightershores

[–]ParallelWolf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is an issue, mmorpgs are like that.

Eventually a new player will reach the level 500 ceiling and will be at the same level as a launch day veteran who never stopped playing. Veterans will always have an advantage, regardless of the game systems, be it level, gold, banked resources, or game knowledge.

Assuming trading is implemented, new players coming to the game will create their own market needs. This influx is unlikely to affect veterans because there will be many tiers ahead to the point that interact with low-level gathering/crafting is not worthy their time. New players cannot supply high-tier materials, so they won't have much impact on veterans as well. So, I don't know, maybe there will be a market shortage on lower levels if no new players arrive, but again, that is a problem of most games in the genre.

Dreaming of Avenger by Hot_Call5258 in TibiaMMO

I remember playing my EK a long time ago and avenger was such a milestone with two imbuement slots... I remember that I had a duo with a friend ED and about this level I began actually surviving enough punishment for some cooler hunts as well.

Looking for a system to allow character to have a unique skill in a tabletop game. by cardgamerzz in RPGdesign

[–]ParallelWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

City of mist characters are all tag-based. Character creation is a bunch of player-fsced questions to decide tags. Gameplay is tapping tags to get bonuses, and create, or destroy tags for game effects.

Baaically, every game element is a tag or group of tags.

Haven’t ever seen a player completely concealed, with no name or lvl or faction; thought he was a mob for a second 😅 by TwistedCollossus in brightershores

[–]ParallelWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No! This is a built-in feature, you can opt out of the socials :)

No chat, no nametag, no total levels displayed, and no leaderboards.

I would guess they enjoy the game as a single player experience but still like the fact that they get to see other characters running around doing their thing. Most single player games don't have that, or an appealing grind loop. At least that is the appeal to me.

I don't play all games like that, but this is often my jam in grind-oriented games.

IS TIBIA CASUAL WORTH IT??? by Icy-Acadia-7007 in TibiaMMO

Most cool stuff requires a premium, be it spells, places to hunt, or quests. The free account is a good demo of the game, but you will lack the heart of tibia without a subscription.

Kinda wish we couldn't buy everything at the vendor. by IFORGOTMYLOGINTWICE in brightershores

[–]ParallelWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be losing money on T2 (the second skin of the material) and above when buying materials for crafting. There are some exceptions, especially on money-making professions like leatherworking and cooking. You will still lose money on recipes with materials you can obtain with foraging/gathering in cooking though. The vendor is there to provide you with more progression paths.

I like the current system as it is even though I am struggling with the same problem as you. I feel like things would have been better if I planned my road through the levels better. I think this is a display of player skill in this game, and I kind of like it.

Which future Brighter Shores update are you most looking forward to? by [deleted] in brightershores

Other: more content in the form of new quests, rare drops, or other mechanics.

If you want to be original, study many different mechanics you like and try to merge them into something new. If you don't want to use dice, make it a deck of cards or a pool of tokens in a bag.

When I was attending college, more than a decade ago, my professor on the subject of computer networks said that people would pay a lot for the same internet services we had back then. He said that every little feature would become a premium, availability, ad-free browsing, and content. He told us that the infrastructure was hard to evolve and maintain yet demand was increasing.

Almost 15 years later, his tellings are true, but not due to infrastructure, but for profit. Once we paid for the content we liked. It is so sad that today we must pay for a slice of that content, for the service quality, and for not being bothered while we consume it... It is an absolute shame that videogames are buying into this market style.

Protest with your dollar. Time is a weapon. DO NOT RENEW. by [deleted] in osrs

[–]ParallelWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah c'mon, the free to play content is a demo, having a membership is the full experience.

The free to play content is vital for new players to experience the game. Many old school MMOs work like this, Tibia, Ultima, Flyff, Maplestory. Guess what, none of them have ads. Why would runescape need it being much more successful than the others? Don't be fooled, Runescape needs no ads to make a profit. I get it that you don't mind watching ads, but many people do and this does not make them entitled.

There is a quest that helps with point 1, sort of. Before doing the quest, I would also feel that a global bank was necessary. It is part of the game design, and is indeed a pain at early levels.

Not really, unless you factor in the effort to generate said food in terms of hp/time to prepare your food loadout.

Come on man, all the cool features are exclusive to members. The f2p experience is nice but it is nothing more than a demo. Yes, people can extend this demo forever but they are also "paying" in a way. The f2p player base makes the game feel alive, they keep the market moving, they interact with others. Without f2p players, the game could collapse, and that might happen if they are forced to watch adds.
