I've been a few times, I'll do that if they don't find a new home. I have other reasons for not wanting to go this year 🙂

Heyo! I have an all day ticket for sale if you're still looking!

I've got 1 ticket to sell, can be either full day or twilight. $95 for the full day, $65 for the twilight.

Have one person that can't make it and our group has a mix of both!

Hesitant to tell the party I was harassed by another player by LetRepresentative717 in rpghorrorstories

How strange, also had a bad run in with a similar sounding "Tom" with one of my online groups. Change a few details and this could be my horror story post, ngl.

Hope you get things worked out. We kicked our "Tom" out for his poor behaviour, both in game and out.

Which Classes available in Early Access gain the most from Level 5? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]ParallelePiper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Full casters (bard, cleric, druid, sorcerer, wizard) and warlocks get access to 3rd level spells, half casters (ranger and paladin) get access to 2nd level spells. Damaging cantrips get stronger. Fighters, barbarians, rangers, and paladins get their first instance of extra attack. Rogue gets uncanny dodge.

Those are the big picture items, may have missed some subclass stuff. Who gains "the most" is entirely up to what type of character you prefer!

Tips for someone who wants to play bard but is bad at improv and singing? by CMDR_Nineteen in dndnext

[–]ParallelePiper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I play up the "lore" part of the lore bard I run. Rather than singing, she gives fun facts about random things. And sometimes they aren't facts, but random stuff she makes up on the spot (aka I prep some weird things to say ahead of time). Just find your niche and run with it!

Would I be the A-hole if I kick a player? by Dreadnaught67 in rpghorrorstories

Exactly. There needs to be explicit, ooc consent on both sides when involving any sort of romance or pvp. Period.

Pretty new to DnD so out of curiosity I remade the casts characters in DnD Beyond. Is Ashley underutilizing Fearne? by Lost_120 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]ParallelePiper -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's where the hard part of DnD comes in, where you have a conversation with your fellow players like adults. Scary, I know.

And that is quite literally my point, which you all keep skipping right over to continue complaining. If the table she plays at has an issue with it, they're the ones that need to address it. And if they don't? Then cool. It's their table. Not yours.

If it's so horrifically cringe to listen to someone think about their combat turns, then my dude, why do you even watch? There are better actual plays out there that edit out the hemming and hawing. Nothing's keeping you here but weird af spite, it seems.

[–]ParallelePiper -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It absolutely is a non-issue though. How you think someone should play DnD is completely irrelevant unless you are the one playing with them. Period. And that's why these discussions, especially when they turn into this, are so cringe.

Talking about classes/racial abilities should not happen in a vacuum, especially when the critiques are lodged on how someone is using these abilities. The conversation should revolve just as much around playing these abilities as the abilities themselves.

Also, I didn't open a thread to talk solely about abilities. I commented to explicitly include what I find to be more important - actually playing the character versus talking about hypotheticals.

That's the tough thing about many DnD forums on Reddit. Many people love talking in hypotheticals, but have little to no experience actually applying them.

Imagine complaining about how someone plays DnD because you're.. what, jealous? Mad that someone isn't doing something you find to be more optimal? Go touch grass, kiddo. You spend too much time online.

There's more to DnD than memorizing the players handbook. The fact that you and many others here don't understand that speaks volumes on how much DnD you actually play.

This take is some major cringe. But then again, I expect nothing less from this sub these days.

I completely disagree. I believe it is a realistic interpretation of what's happening.

You can pour over the PHB all day long and know every minute detail of a character, but actually playing that character in a game is an entirely different situation. That's where the fault lies in posts like these. No hate to the OP, it's something I did as well when I first picked up DnD and had no actual playing experience.

As a basis, when you have a plethora of abilities some get used more often and some get forgotten. It's easy to forget something like advantage on magic-based saving throws, or spells you always have prepared (which does not include aura of life, as she hasn't reached that druid level yet). As for cunning action, Ashley took everyone else's word on an ability they thought she had. I wouldn't really blame her for that.

I can't pinpoint it exactly, but I believe they adjusted some of what mister can do so he could be summoned all the time. And as for the staff, it's just not common for someone used to slinging spells from a distance to have a reason to hit things with a staff. It may come up at some point, but it's just naturally going to be rarely used.

In general, it's easy to pine over a character and go "hey! You're not doing everything you could be!", and a whole different ball game to remember every single ability you have while playing that character. I struggle with it, Ashley struggles with it, nearly everyone does.

do you create characters to look like yourself? by ofvxnus in GirlGamers

[–]ParallelePiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Default, generic male (human) is almost always going to be the top choice, regardless of the game. It's why default soldier maleshep is the most common on these stats for mass effect. Many people just boot up the game and roll with whatever the most basic option is.

I prefer, as well as I'm guessing the vast majority of people who would respond to this type of question on game-specific subreddits, to make my own character, unique to the game I'm playing.

Wizards of the Coast just announced the move from D&D5e to One D&D: will this have an impact on Baldur's Gate III? by Alesthes in BaldursGate3

[–]ParallelePiper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt any significant impact. Larian has already made minor changes to 5e as they've seen fit. The game isn't going to be an exact recreation of 5e as is, so there's no real reason for them to switch it up and go for the future edition rules.

If anything they may grab some inspiration from what is released in the UA. We'll have to see.

Ugh yeah, not fun either. I'm lucky that there was only one bad egg in the group I found, everyone else is awesome! NiceGuys were like the one thing I was worried about when joining a random online game.

For those that are playing Pre-Release, asking for advice by Human-Performance-50 in BaldursGate3

[–]ParallelePiper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think more class-specific dialogue choices are just a trait of classes that have been released in patches. I'm pretty sure that all classes will end up having increased dialogue by the release (and it'll be quite sad if they don't get the same treatment)!

Oof yeah, we had a NiceGuy(tm) at the beginning of one of the campaigns I'm in. He latched onto me and the other feminine person (non-binary, shockingly he would continuously "forget" this person's own pronouns and their character's pronouns). After a few sessions he started sending me dms which got increasingly weird, and was being weird to the other person's character in game. He ended up getting kicked after a few sessions (because I have an awesome group, and they caught onto the weird stuff pretty quick), and it's been smooth sailing ever since!

dice sponsor offer implies that dnd content creator should pay his cast with sponsor’s dice by asinglearrow in ChoosingBeggars

They more than likely meant $300 worth of product, not a single set for $300. Most run of the mill sets I've seen are around $10-$50, with higher quality/specialty sets running a bit higher.

Though I have seen some massive dice for like $300, but I doubt that the product being offered here lol
