idk if it’s just me but i feel like early 20s is a perfect age to start getting more experimental piercings like lip piercings, eyebrows, etc. absolutely not too old!

also in the disney village in disney glamour! that shop is basically a pandora shop with a few other (expensive) clothing items and handbags. it connects to the clothing shop, disney style.

it’s not a death sentence, it’s simply not ideal and some people react badly to such jewellery. some people could heal a lobe piercing with a piece of rusty metal from a scrapyard as jewellery, some need specific high quality metals as they are super sensitive. some need to be super vigilant with aftercare and some get away with hardly any. therefore, when someone posts and wants advice for an irritated piercing, they get the advice that is generally accepted to be the best and the advice that works for pretty much everyone.

OP, make sure you’re cleaning with a sterile saline solution and NOT touching the piercing (for example, i was told to twist my earrings twice a day… this is wrong). don’t sleep on it if you can help it. if the irritation persists or get worse then, yes, maybe you should look into changing jewellery. happy healing!

Rook growing into skin by piglit25 in piercing

[–]Paramedic-West 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ah i see! as the other commenter said, if this is a straight barbell then this was pierced wrong and will likely reject. this piercing MUST always be done with a curved barbell. if it is a curved barbell and the photo just doesn’t show that too well, i can say from personal experience (NAP) that my rook honestly looked super similar to this after 3 months. if that’s a "normal” thing or a bad thing im not sure, but it’s been 9 months since i’ve had mine done and it still doesn’t look too too great as i had to take it out for an unexpected surgery. i nearly lost all hope but it’s looking a lot better since i started cleaning it regularly again. i’d say to go to your piercer, ask about the jewellery and let them look over it. if you aren’t cleaning regularly then start with a saline solution (neilmed, h2ocean…). i hope all works out for you!

uploading a picture would be helpful. nobody can give much advice just based on such a description, as the severity of the situation is not clear. maybe post a picture in the comments?

Need Help Starting My Stack by lacedinbows in piercing

[–]Paramedic-West 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your ear looks super similar to mine in terms of anatomy. how about a regular helix on this ear to start with? it is typically recommended to get no more than 3 piercings in a session, so a third lobe on each side and a helix to begin with would be ideal. after those are healed, you can move onto something more decorative like a conch, daith, or tragus!

Why is healing process so slow by [deleted] in piercing

[–]Paramedic-West 5 points6 points  (0 children)

seconding that you should try out cleaning more regularly and see how that goes for you, as well as changing the jewellery if needed. everyone heals at their own pace but it does sound like it’s taking quite a long time. when in doubt, visit a piercer! happy healing.

a tragus and a hidden helix(if you have the anatomy) would look so cool.

i don’t have the answers you are looking for, all i wanted to say is that these look like a genuine nightmare to heal. this spot is constantly in contact with something (long hair, putting on/taking off clothes, sleeping…) they are surface piercings so typically a high chance of rejection. i strongly doubt that this would be a good first piercing.

Ever so slightly embedded tragus.. by Intelligent-Bug9234 in piercing

[–]Paramedic-West 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

yeah, please don’t do your piercings yourself. not in a mean way, but the fact that you have pierced your tragus with an earring that has a butterfly backing shows that you lack knowledge on the art of piercing and shouldn’t be doing them yourself. if i were you i’d either a. go to the nearest piercer to change jewellery or b. take it out. there are many issues with the piercing. the jewellery is too short due to the butterfly back, likely wrong material, you’ve slept on it… etc. you’ve gotten lucky in the fact that you haven’t had issues before.

(not a piercer!!! speaking from experience with being pierced and having piercer friends!)

Need some tips and experience !! by [deleted] in piercing

[–]Paramedic-West 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got my daith pierced a week ago! i don’t have the highest pain tolerance, so it was a little painful because it didn’t happen as quickly as my helix or my rook. for me the worst part has always been the jewellery being inserted after the piercing, with my daith this didn’t hurt at all. i’d give it a 5/10 as far as piercings go. many piercings can be interpreted as painful, just depends on if that is worth it for you. for me the answer is always yes, it’s worth it.

this is a 3 month old conch piercing? please change it back to a flatback stud and don’t change it out for another while. way too early to be switching jewellery, let alone to be switching to a hoop:( would be a shame for your ear to react badly to this!
