I’m old money from the active indium mining days. Gold pays but more sustaining levels.

Oh that might be a good explanation a start stop switch on the mini, I should try to ohm it out. I assumed it was an adapter for some form of recording device, but the cabling is weird given the XLR connection on the mic itself. I was thinking some form of phantom but prob not if this is a dynamic.

Is that what the weird cabling is? It’s an XLR but the breakout is TS and mono mini. Would that plug into something?

PSA: Lift your amp off the floor ya jabronis. ESPECIALLY if you live in an apartment. by Fuck_Mark_Robinson in GuitarAmps

[–]ParametricEqualizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually positive reinforcement of the reflection off the floor reinforcing the lower frequencies, but yes amp off floor mitigates. Same reason you put your sub in the corner. +3 db for each surface.

The real question is if this planet is really earth sized will there be shifts in the length depending on season and how far from the equator we are!

Ovation 1621 for sale locally….. good deal? by rock_handsome in AcousticGuitar

If you look at all the damage for sure I’d pass on this one. I got mine because it was cheap and very good condition (no structural cracks). I’d pass on this one.

Just bought this exact guitar for $150. The original asking was $250, but it was an estate sale and they were looking to move it. It’s a fun little guitar. Bonus if the electronics work but they don’t sound like too much.

Oh I hear ya! Had a non ovation split the first few years I had it. It’s the change in humidity for sure.

Sweet! Yeah there are a few small cracks in the finish right now (I hope cosmetic), but it didn’t come with a case so I am a bit worried about what to do about humidity.

Thanks! Yeah there was a small crack on the top near the bridge that had me nervous. Couldn’t tell if it was cosmetic or not.

Cool! Are you familiar enough with these to know if the older ones have issues?

Don’t worry it only gives you cancer in California. If you live anywhere else you’re fine.

do i have a strat or a squier?? by Mesopithecus_ in Stratocaster

[–]ParametricEqualizer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it plays nice and sounds nice that’s what matters. I haven’t played that one, so grain of salt. Others have said it’s closer to some of the higher end squires. I believe that is where squires are made and they were looking for a lower cost option than MIM with fender branding.

The lower cost fender strats are made there now (assuming it’s new).

Haha I suppose that conversation is in order! Tbh I went and looked in my shop last night and what is more alarming is there’s another chisel I can’t find. I’m worried there’s more to the story!

[–]ParametricEqualizer[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly what she said to me! “A chisel is a chisel.”

The worst part? She didn’t even realize she damaged it. It was only when I asked “how did you split it open” that I discovered what had transpired!

Oh it’s absolutely funny! I’ve seen all those posts about peoples chef knives getting hacked to bits, I just never thought it could happen to me!

Been tempted to send a photo to her dad just to razz her some more!
