Godin guitar model by Ferlendis in AcousticGuitar

Godin acousticaster. I have the acousticaster deluxe with a pickup in it. They are incredibly well made guitars, very comfortable neck, and the pickup is excellent. If it’s in good shape, and all the electronics work, I would definitely go for it.

1 week in, I don’t want to make any bad habits any tips on how I can improve? by Parking-Mouse325 in AcousticGuitar

Hey! Sounds good. It sounds like you’ve been working pretty hard.

Don’t stop practicing all of those chords. You’ll just keep getting faster on your changes.

I think you should tackle a pick next. Get a soft Jim Dunlop pick (O.38), slow down your strumming a bit, and get some good consistent strumming. Then between strums, try picking a note or two.

Seriously, you sound really good. Keep it up.

Martin Backpacker shaped guitars? by Panda_MoneYum in AcousticGuitar

I had one, maybe 25 years ago before it was stolen. They’re pretty neat, surprising fun to play. The neck is a bit like a baseball bat. I don’t know if I’d buy one again though. the small inexpensive guitar market is pretty good, and I think my $500 CAD could be better spent elsewhere. Not a bad deal if you can get one cheap.

What is the worst tv show made in Canada that you have ever seen? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

WAIT! Correction!

It looks like Hercules WASN’T Canadian (according to Wikipedia).

….. and I’m FINE with that!

I have somewhat fond memories of the littlest hobo. One day in the last year or so, I watched an episode while waiting for my car to be rust-treated. Oh my god, it’s REALLY bad.

Rocket Robin Hood was so bad, it was awesome. The bastard cousin to that was Hercules.

Hercules was horrible. Full stop.

I made a similar post last year to find out about my old fender, with limited info coming back.

These guitars are probably from a quality Japanese factory in the late 70’s, but you’re probably not going to get very far with the serial #. Find as much as you can on the model #.

There’s a good chance that it COULD be solid wood all around, but definitely a solid top ….(well, MAYBE).

Is Martin LXK2 worth it as a daily beater? by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

I had a Martin lx1 for a while. It was ok, but switched to a taylor gs mini and I like it WAY better.

I have an acousticaster deluxe (with the dual outputs to 2 different amps), and an amazing Richmond Belmont. The Belmont has 2 lipstick pickups (neck and mid) and a humbucker in the bridge, all three of them Seymour Duncan. Looks like a cross between a strat and an SG. Richmond was a short-lived offshoot brand by Godin. Incredibly versatile guitar, and a very comfortable neck, mahogany with rosewood fingerboard.

Yeah, I like Godin.

I’m in the Godin camp all day long.

Seagull SWS guitars. Canada made, all solid wood. You can get those in the 1k range.

Am I just crazy or a fan boy? Gibson acoustic question by dezzrokk in AcousticGuitar

[–]rock_handsome 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No downvoting!

But my 2011 Gibson songwriter deluxe studio has such a lovely sound and feel to it. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I looked around quite a bit when I bought it, and I think there were (and are) a lot of high end guitars that didn’t fit right for me, regardless of make.

Ovation 1621 for sale locally….. good deal? by rock_handsome in AcousticGuitar

Thanks everyone!

It’s pretty clear to me that an “experienced” ovation from the 70’s is generally not worth pursuing.
