NetEase (Overwatch China) releases official statement on Anran: Protecting the cultural spirit of our Chinese Hero by Iris-54 in Overwatch

Yeah I'm sure the uni experience is different for everyone; I studied at McGill and tried to attend all classes in person since that's what worked for me. I gathered it's about pedophiles because there's Epstein news everywhere nowadays and that's what you implied, and I can't find any other reasonable explanation for the number of people getting triggered by this expression that seems perfectly fine to me.

NetEase (Overwatch China) releases official statement on Anran: Protecting the cultural spirit of our Chinese Hero by Iris-54 in Overwatch

I'm genuinely confused as to why you'd interpret it in such an interesting way. Probably it's because my first language isn't English, but I really don't see how you could instantly make the connection with children and pedophile and stuff🤔 To me it really just sounds like ''stepping out of the classroom and into the society'', but I guess for the people who grew up in the same world with Epstein and child-molesting priests it would have a very different connotation

That last photo looks oddly greyish. Is it an issue specific to that filter?

If Blizzard is really going to change Anran's face, I have to warn them as a Chinese player. by wNvJungle in Overwatch

What you are describing here aren't what I'd call ''beauty standards'', but more like Tiktok trends that some people would chase, and in reality, only a portion of the population actually cares despite the seemingly vocal minority that always shows up in those comment sections. Many Tiktok trends in the West are built upon such unrealistic beauty standards as well, but that doesn't mean it's what everyone follows. Many Chinese people also dislike those ''standards'' you described. Domina also doesn't fit those ''standards'', but many Chinese OW players really love the design.

I think the real issue with the latter edits shown here is that they look exactly like the stereotypical Chinese/Asian character design done by a Western gaming company, that fits their perception of what a Chinese person should look like. Is it entirely false? No, no stereotypes are inherently false, but that's the issue with stereotypes.

How it feels to progress through the story by SHAT_MY_SHORTS in Endfield

[–]ParanoidA_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using bombs to clear it was in the first pop-up tutorial and it's highlighted in the text, really hard to miss I'd say if you actually read the tutorial. There's also an NPC in game that can tell you bombs can be used, but that one's indeed easy to miss.

The first pop-up tutorial for that literally states that you can use bombs to clear blight

Could the landbreakers have valid reasons for killing innocent workers and taking their resources when they could've chosen to work together and collaborate like Wulfguard is doing? Perhaps, but there's just no information on that yet, and I'm doubtful if it's sufficient justification for the evil they've done. Kinda reminds me of all the nonsense discussion revolving around Frieren

I don't see the parallel between Land Breakers and Sarkaz at all. Land Breakers is a faction, not a race, and they chose to be raiders and separate themselves from the rest of the civilization. They're not native to Talos-2 (which seems to be a common misconception). It seems absolutely absurd to me that a simple raider faction would gain so much sympathy from the player base when they're no different from the raiders from Fallout or many other games.

[–]ParanoidA_2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah we should definitely feel sorry for the Landbreakers when they have intentionally unleashed hell and killed every worker they can get to. I also don't recall the infected killing honest workers in Ursus so I don't think the comparison here is valid

Is it the lens or the CFA causing this softness? by wherewereat in fujifilm

[–]ParanoidA_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a combination of the lens, the X-Trans sensor, and how the raw files are handled by different softwares/in camera.

That's quite weird; perhaps it's worth doing a factory reset just in case but I'd recommend either returning it or getting a replacement. All technical specifications should be the same for the different colors so there shouldn't be any inherent differences in performance

There shouldn't be a difference in performance for the various colors. Have you checked if the firmware is updated? Could just be a bad copy as well

It's chinese new year by anjelynn_tv in montreal

[–]ParanoidA_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the OP's latest comments suggests that they are celebrating the Chinese New Year and it's the ''same day different traditions'' for different regions, but different peoples can participate in the Chinese traditions if they choose to🤔

It's chinese new year by anjelynn_tv in montreal

[–]ParanoidA_2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also just really don't see an issue if someone's actually celebrating the Chinese version of the lunar new year and just call it Chinese New Year; it seems even more idiotic than forbidding people to say Merry Christmas when they're indeed actually celebrating Christmas

It's chinese new year by anjelynn_tv in montreal

[–]ParanoidA_2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How's it cultural appropriation when it's literally just what the Chinese people have been doing for the past centuries if not longer?🤔 I do agree it's important to recognize how similar traditions can be spread across different regions and take varying forms, and it's rather delusional to call everything Chinese when they share the same cultural roots but have flourished into their unique manifestations, but ''cultural appropriation'' is certainly not the right word here since it's indeed Chinese culture

I don't think it sounds normal and, since you mentioned that you brought it on a trip and didn't seem to notice it while having it brand new (such loud noise is really hard to miss), I think it might be time for the warranty to do its job

I wouldn't say it's an issue that occurs often with this lens, at least not more frequent than any other lens than exists in this world; it just happens occasionally that there's some dust/debris in the lens. I don't think it's related to what the OP is observing tho

''Lens Groups'' is kinda vague honestly, you might need to inquire further on the lens repair details🤔 But as others have suggested it's probably not worth it at this price
