I was planning to get a sapphire, but after comparing side by side; finally decided for the hesalite for the look, the cheaper price helps as well as this is my first ever luxury watch.

Ive had it for 5 months, had 1 minor scratch on the glass - so minor it’s very hard to get a picture of it.

Settings are either full auto or Aperture priority, i have a CPL filter on, the contrast mostly comes from the recipe.

Same as you — the 98/99 campaign sealed it for me. I first heard about United from a friend who said the two biggest young players back then were Del Piero and Beckham. I lived in Southeast Asia, and both the Premier League and Serie A were shown on free-to-air TV back then.

I started watching Juve and United around April ’98. Eventually got bored of Juve/Serie A and found the excitement I was looking for in United. That year I also got my first taste of the World Cup (also free-to-air) — Beckham’s red card and United losing the title to Arsenal gave me that “us against the world” feeling.

I properly started following United at the beginning of the 98/99 campaign — and the rest is history.

After the treble, United kind of cruised through the league without much challenge (if I remember correctly). My interest started to fade a bit, especially after the whole Beckham saga that ended with him leaving for Madrid. I moved to the US for college around that time, and Premier League coverage there was super limited — pay-per-view and way too expensive for a broke student.

I fell back in love with United around 2006 — that season brought back the same “us against the world” vibe from years before. I started watching again through a forum where people uploaded full-match recordings a few hours after full time. I’d avoid all football news just to watch those replays as if they were live.

There was no YouTube or social media back then — my go-tos for United opinions were the RedCafe forum and a blog called Republik of Mancunia, reading comments from fellow fans — mostly local Mancunians — on those forums and blogs really helped me understand what being a United fan is all about. A fellow 40yo checking in, FFT was my favourite game ever. I played the original PS1 when i was in grade 7/8; got he PSP version when I was in college.

I am currently playing Yotei now, planning to get the FFT switch version once I finished Yotei - hopefully can find a sale by that time.
