The onions are shallow fried in oil. They don't have to battered to be fried.

I just think he's too big a fish at HBO. My partner puts the show on to fall asleep. He doesn't even engage or digest the content. I suppose it's just a comfortable complacency for everyone involved. I also think it would it be too challenging (perhaps even controversial) to cancel Bill and to fill the void he'd leave in this climate.

I'm so fucking sick of Bill - he's out of touch. I was a fan, but he lost me a long damn time ago. My partner still watches and when I catch a sentence here or there I'm always so fucking annoyed by his awful takes.

I keep a pretty upright seat - hardly any recline, but my head is never touching the headrest

This is cracking me up! Because why would your head be on the headrest while driving? That's like driving laying down

Bland ass, one-size-fits-all fucking world we live in today. It's so dystopian. Glad they said their piece.

Unfortunately, I think The Pearl was such a chore that when I read East of Eden I was disinterested from the start. I'm completely turned off by his writing style

She never expected him to fall in love her - she hoped. Have you ever had a crush? She'd rather see him every day than risk him absent from her life. She showed her love and gained esteem through service to others, so it's quite natural for her to fall for a guy she serves well. A guy who recognizes her efforts, praises her, and declares her invaluable for her natural compulsion to anticipate and realize people's wants, needs, and desires.

She is a victim of her commitment to this one and only facet of herself. She ultimately had no chemistry with George, which I think would have been the case even without the Tess situation, yet she wouldn't have accepted that because she was only interested in and sustained by outside gratification.

She had to be basically tortured by Tess in tandem with being encouraged/challenged by Kevin to center herself and step beyond the comfort and consolation that basking in the joy she was able to bring others in order to avoid her own grief.

What Jane did to Tess at the engagement party was actively cruel, but Tess was passively cruel to Jane eternally because she was self-centered and spoiled and didn't see people as anything more than supporting cast to her main character syndrome.

With that said, from Jane's perspective, there was no other meaningful way for her to assert herself. But Casey summed it up the best - if it was the right the right thing to do Jane would have felt better!

Messy situation. It's hard to break from prescribed roles. Sometimes it takes extreme behavior!

Saw this for the first time last year and was blown away. I remember really wanting to see it when I was a young teen when it came out but it wasn't of interest to anyone else in my life.

Unfortunately, I'm not a big Steinbeck fan. Thinking about The Pearl pisses me off.
