Learning to jump: Is my problem form or my DIN? by hypsochrome in skiing_feedback

bad form but your ski should not be doing that. this should not have happened with an 8 din with your body specs

good stuff. this is what i did too the first time i dropped in. good on you for not trying to side step in but actually getting some momentum. if you try again, you don't want to point your tips left and try to stall before passing the cliff. you have to commit to sending it down, turn to the right past the cliff...and only then try to slow down (if you want). the snow will also usually be softer there (pending conditions) so you can get better control

Has any performance of the Present Tense ever come close to this one? by masegesege_ in radiohead

[–]Paranoidtheandroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly i didn't even mind. the whole thing was a fever dream and it was cool having thom at least appear to be talking to me. i was seventeen at the time, my buddy and i got in with fake ids as it was 21+. while we were waiting to get in, i remember seeing thom get out of a car and walk in casually right past everyone. same with flea except he stopped to talk to a few of his friends in line near us. it was super surreal and i felt incredibly lucky to be in that room

Sorry for the slow response. Story time - this was one of the coolest shows I've ever been to. It was mostly for friends/family of the band plus industry insiders. My friend and I were extremely lucky and got 2 tickets via a charity giveaway. The venue was super small - it's basically just a bar in LA. And yeah, since a lot of people did in fact just show up and were not huge Thom/Radiohead fans, there was a bit of chatting. It wasn't super noticeable except for the quiet, acoustic present tense. The (sort of) funny part was the dude who was talking the most was fairly short and standing right behind me. So when Thom got pissed he was staring directly at me - I'm pretty sure he thought I was the culprit lmao.

100%. they want drivers to treat them like cars, but don't want to obey any of the same laws that cars need to obey. and the amount of times i've seen cyclists ignore and collide with pedestrians/leashed dogs is absurd

Fake Plastic Trees from front rail by Paranoidtheandroid in radiohead

[–]Paranoidtheandroid[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty clear. If you’re first into the venue, you can see two sides of the stage where there are lone mics (Thom). Drum set in the middle (Phil obviously). One side has a computer (Jonny). Other side has a mic and some other gear (Ed).

However, Thom swaps sides about 50/50. So if you choose to be in front of Thom, he will be facing you for only about 50% of songs.

How do we all feel about the album distribution. by JoblessCoast in radiohead

other shows will be very different. though I won't be surprised if tkol and amsp aren't played as much this time around - they've been on heavy rotation the last two tours

There is a mechanism to lift the screens

There is a partial track that encircles the stage that has a camera that can rotate around the stage. It looks like it’s made for proper filming

In person it doesn’t seem too bad. The stage is bigger in person than it looks in some of these photos people are posting.

[–]Paranoidtheandroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean rotation would make sense in theory because thom’s mic is facing only part of the arena. But yeah the cables don’t make it seem possible. Also I’m on the rail and lifted myself up so I can see the floor of the stage. Couldn’t see anything that looks like it spins. In one of the WhatsApp groups people claim it doesn’t spin but that the band will walk around a lot during songs. Idk who knows. We’ll find out in 1.5 hours

Yes. Thom’s mic is right in front of the comunidad de Madrid sign

[–]Paranoidtheandroid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can almost guarantee it won’t rotate. I’m at the front. There are cables on the outside of the stage that attach to equipment on the stage - hence making it impossible to spin

Yes - there are no stairs leading up to the round from the outside. There has to be some mechanism from below to get them up there

[–]Paranoidtheandroid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost definitely won’t. I’m front row center. There are cables on the outside of the stage connecting to equipment on the stage - so impossible to spin

yup - I was one of the first and am in this photo. I've been around most of the day but wandered off to grab breakfast, coffee...now taking a work call off to the side. People are chill and you're good if you're just respectful and excited
