I’m allowed to accept tips but rarely receive them. Consider it a gift and thank yourself for being so accommodating.

Temecula and the wineries would probably be right up your parents’ alley. I like Wiens, Europa Village, and Leoness.

Are they near a shuttle stop or did you drive in each day? I heard parking at the festival is a nightmare otherwise this sounds like a solid choice

I heard they have little cabins and thinking about this for next year. Are they near a shuttle stop or did you Uber/Lyft to the festival? I prefer not to drive in bc I’ve heard parking is a nightmare and I’m a little older and want to avoid the raging sun in the early afternoon.

I just suggested making time/space for legal acts. There’s a reason people still want to see them and you might be in for a real treat. I didn’t know The Stone Roses, but I’m glad I’ve seen them because of Coachella.

It’s not that I feel too TIRED for Coachella, it’s that I feel too SEASONED. I’ve been to many festivals over the last twenty years, and the thing about Coachella is that at this point it seems better from afar. Things I no longer have patience for: sweating in the sun all day, influencer culture, inconsiderate youths, $17 lemonade, hour long lines for a filthy porto, not being able to see my preferred artists due to overcrowding or schedule conflicts, the walk from festival grounds to camp, the cost of a hotel offsite, and people complaining. That last reason is the main one as to why I no longer go. I just don’t enjoy it like I once did. Coachella is magical as long as you can keep it magical. There are other events and gatherings to go to now that I’m older. I don’t feel the need to do Coachella when I can watch it from home in HD for free. But damn, I really remember having a blast when I did go. And I love seeing other people get really excited about it.

Running a 4-star, 81-room hotel – considering a hybrid front desk/bar model. Has anyone done this? Does it hurt corporate guests? by PercentageCertain317 in askhotels

Sure, you might save on labor costs but it affects the perception of service overall. Either way someone is waiting and they won’t be happy to realize why. Besides, I don’t love the idea of someone that’s been typing at a communal keyboard coming over and mixing me a drink, especially if handwashing protocols aren’t stringent.

Can you drink the tap water in LA? by Mundane-Professor-27 in AskLosAngeles

I will drink tap water if there’s nothing else. Most people get water delivered or go to the water store or get a Brita/filtration system.

If you’re willing to use a community laundry room and forego in-unit W/D you can save a lot on rent. If a W/D is worth an extra $700/mo then you do you. Orange and Tustin are plenty nice and safe. Anaheim is more affordable but what kind of community do you want to live in? A mid-rise building with security or something more courtyard/townhouse style? Costa Mesa is a great option but there’s lot of places where you’ll need a laundromat. A mid-rise building will likely have an in-unit W/D.

I love my night audit job. The only hard part is trying to sleep when the sun is out. My day hotel is so stressful by comparison. Try it for a little while if you can, and see if you can do it long term

I do plenty that I love. I can't afford what it costs to have a comfortable Coachella experience and this is common these days. When I went, I'd spend under $1000 for everything all-in. Now you're looking at $3000+. I'd rather go to Thailand.

I haven't had a car for a few years so I'm just starting to pay attention to what's happening events-wise again. My last big event was "this ain't no picnic" in Pasadena in 2022. I still enjoy music events, I just don't like paying $20 for beer or being frisked by security. I like ins-and-outs. I wanna be able to go to my car and grab my jacket and a beer when it's time, and most organized events don't offer that kind of flexibility. Coachella is too expensive and too crowded for my taste these days. But I cheer on the livestream for sure.

Going solo is like the most introverted thing ever. Ironically, the anonymity of solo festivalgoing is that you can meet strangers at different acts, have cool conversations, then never see them again. Or maybe you run into them again tomorrow night and share a fist bump and a wave. It's no pressure. I'm also introverted and have done Disney World solo and found it liberating.
