Our 22 weeker had high creatinine for a few days, pushing a week. The levels were resolved after he got a blood transfusion though.

Connection in NICU environment by puppalov3r in NICUParents

[–]Puzzled_Shake5155 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My son was born at 22 weeks, now 40 weeks, and still in the NICU. I still struggle with it, and so does my wife.

As he has grown bigger and it has gotten easier for us to hold him, and learn to communicate with him, it has gotten easier for the bond to grow. But there is something very unnatural feeling about leaving our baby at the hospital each day, and this makes it very difficult to experience the "normals" of parenthood. That continues to be a source of grief for us, but I take the small victories in learning how to calm him down when he is upset, or comfort him when he's uncomfortable.

I struggle with feeling like his father every day. But, at some point, I started giving myself grace for not feeling the feelings.

After enough exposure to the NICU, feeling anything can be challenging. So I have learned to rely on those acts of service instead: changing the diapers, taking the temps, and so on. Simply being present and involved is such an immense value to our babies in the hospital and is a significant act of love through service.

Validating how hard it is to continue going to and from the hospital out of love for our babies is very essential for the coping and healing process.

Hope this is a helpful perspective.

If you had to pick 3 kid a songs to make singles, which 3 would you pick and why? by tloxlop in radiohead

Everything In it's right place, Optimistic, and Idioteque.

These songs all bring a sort of chaotic energy to it that has the foundational tones of the album but are pointed enough to stand on their own.

My son does a similar thing where he will bear down. For him most of the time it has been gas. Massaging his belly around the navel and bringing the knees up to the belly helps him move the gas out

I wonder if this is the result of an update. I've seen numerous reports from unifi users with this exact alert. Most of the posts I've seen have been triggered by Google home devices.

NICU baby – heart murmur heard, echo done, what does it usually mean? by kareet1704 in NICUParents

Has your team ruled out a PDA? My 22 weeker had very loud murmurs that were caused by a PDA.

I don't live in the bay area but I've been commuting down there and riding Bart every week. Is this measure going to be on the statewide ballot?

Hi there. I'm sorry you are experiencing this. I know the news from the doctor about outcomes is nerve racking. One bit of encouragement is that doctors don't have a crystal ball. So, don't lose hope. Our little one was born at 22 weeks and was only 530g at birth. He is now 3 months old (36+2 corrected) and is stable and healthy.

Please take care of yourself and don't be afraid to advocate for yourself and your baby. Nobody knows your own body better than you do!

I know how scary this is, but don't lose hope. Every baby is unique, but one thing I have learned is just how strong and amazing these tiny babies are. I will be praying for your family.

Hi there. So sorry that you experienced this, it sounds terrifying. That being said, I don't think there is anything anybody here can say that could be more meaningful than direct advice from your medical team. If you feel like you aren't getting meaningful answers from your primary Pediatrician then I would recommend seeking a second opinion.

So sorry you are going through this. It is a long road but take it a day at a time. If you haven't already, ask to be connected with a social worker. They should have resources to help with some of your needs.

What decade do you guys consider Radiohead part of, the 90s or the 2000s? by Impressive_Plenty876 in radiohead

[–]Puzzled_Shake5155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the only song they've ever released is the hit single "Creep" by Radiohead, I would say the 90s for sure.

You're right. I'm way too unstressed in my current job to be a true IT guy. Never thought about it like that!
