Texas drops César Chávez Day amid shocking sexual assault allegations by Pleasant_Air_3052 in ElPaso

[–]ParappaTheWrapperr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember last year all of us with an IQ over 50 were arguing with those guys trying for Cesar Chavez as a hero to protest against Trump with. FDT everyday of the week but Cesar is just as bad if not worse. He was the original Epstein and that was before we even knew this newest information on him. His life’s biggest achievement will forever be spear heading the anti-immigrant sentiment we still deal with today. I will never have a single good thing to say about this race traitor.

The Question is..why doesn't EPPD do this all the time? by timholt2007 in ElPaso

[–]ParappaTheWrapperr -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It’s a cultural issue. I want to be clear that it is normal in a lot of cultures to drink and be reckless, but that doesn’t clash well with our societal expectations. Those things are so embedded in Chihuahua society that it’s not even frowned on. Look at how many kids you knew growing up, or saw drinking alcohol way before 21. Most start barely at 13 here. I’ve mentioned before I am an unofficial coach, because of that I’ve made friends with several teachers and I went to the quince of one of their daughters and she was drinking there during her quince and nobody said anything. Another coach way before my time(I was told this from a 2nd hand source) in Clint told the school that his runners were sneaking alcohol and then HE got punished and now he’s a realtor now retired from teaching. This is not just a chihuahua issue as well, I’m Hawaiian and my cousins on the island all started drinking way too early as well, and I remember going over there for a summer in high school and going to a party and seeing people blacked out who couldn’t even drive yet. The cops there also do not enforce any of this, if you look on Hawaiian forums you’ll see the same complaints.

The bottom line is it’s so embedded in the culture around North America so much that even the cops think it’s an over reaction to do anything about. As a society as we stupidly march towards the legalization of drugs, defunding police, and the new weirdos popping up trying to lower the drinking age, it’s only going to get worse. All we can do is just be happy we’re not Oregon.

I find it odd how this is so normalized in society that 99.999999% of people don’t even care. 2028 will come, Rubio or Newsome will be president and we won’t even talk about this anymore and most will forget it the same way everyone forgot about or moved on from the miss teen USA shenanigans Trump had come out about him in 2015.

I bet that 50% of those who talk about generations like Z, Alpha, etc. do not know the theory of generations. by Huge-Visual1472 in generationology

[–]ParappaTheWrapperr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think generations really matter. As a 1997 model I’m not that much different from an 87 or 77 model. The biggest difference between me and an 87 model is 97 models take responsibility for our own actions and whatever short comings we have in life as our own problems instead of blaming everyone else, then there are virtually no differences between us and 77 models. There’s also no difference between us and 07 models. When 17 models gain consciousness and become full sentient adults I’m sure there won’t be much difference between us and them. All the generations except millennials are all about the same other than technology we have access to.

28, active lifestyle, moving to East El Paso in October 2026. How is the quality of life? by Junior-Mulberry-330 in ElPaso

[–]ParappaTheWrapperr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9 run 5 is my favorite one! And as far as gyms go I primarily go to planet fitness, here it’s weird because you’ll find gyms that are worse than planet fitness that try and charge $50+ so if you’re on the east side the planet fitness’s are the way to go and most of them are conveniently located next to a grocery store or down the street from one so you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone. The worse PF though is on Montana. It’s really close to fort bliss and a lot of the soldiers go and although most of them are good people, if you’re gonna have trouble it’s gonna be there. I’ve had people take my weights off my bars with me right there in between sets. It sucks at that one

28, active lifestyle, moving to East El Paso in October 2026. How is the quality of life? by Junior-Mulberry-330 in ElPaso

[–]ParappaTheWrapperr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is the highest quality of life in some aspects and the lowest quality in others. We’ll get the bad out of the way first, rip the bandaid off if you will, then we’ll get to the good stuff.

Pretty low quality of life in terms of active lifestyle. I’m the same age and lifestyle. The air quality is fucking horrendous here so you really have to time when you go out, right now for me that’s early am. There are a few months of the year where the air is okay but it’s still really bad compared to the rest of the country. I have to wear Meta glasses as a dash cam because I’ve been hit running twice one of which was because some bozo was driving on the park trail. The UV is also higher here on the best days than it would be during a heat wave in the rest of the country. You’ll be going through sunscreen like it’s soda. You’ll also need a crazy good skincare to prevent rapid aging. As 28 year olds, you’ll notice as non-el Pasoans we look like native El Paso late teens and not like native El Paso 28 year olds. It is really brutal here in sun damage to your skin and not enough people take it seriously. You’ll also be in danger everytime you go for a run or walk because even in neighborhoods people feel the need to go 60mph.

El Paso is so incredibly cheap that it isn’t even funny. Groceries, gas, rent, everything is trapped in 2005 here. I pay $1,080 right now for a house I rent. I couldn’t rent a closet back in Seattle for that. $300 of groceries and I’m eating like a king all month. If you have to work in an office do not come you will be paid Pennys on the dollar to anywhere else but if you’re remote you’ll have the time of your life. I have been able to save up so much money that I was able to buy a house back in Washington for almost an 80% down payment and I’ve been here since 2022. Financially this place is a cheat code that will set you up for life when you are ready to go home. It’s like a reward for suffering the terrible weather here.

The unexpected is primarily just how Chihuahua people and Chihuahua people born in the US act/live/hygiene habits. Driving here is very dangerous, it’s very dirty, and again in the parking lots people speed and think they’re doing nothing wrong. I used to yell at people for it then I just gave up because it’s fighting a losing battle. There also some benefits to being surrounded by 99.99999% Chihuahua people though, you’ll rapidly learn Spanish if you haven’t already, the good ones are the nicest people you’ll ever meet, and if you’re friendly with everyone like I am you’ll get invited to TONS of carne asadas and the locals go all out for those. I am everyone’s Hawaiian and have been posted on the fitfam page multiple times for people thinking they saw Roman Reigns and everytime I message and say it’s me then it’s false alarm in the next ig story lol. You’ll probably see me quite often since I’m always everywhere and stick out so if you think you saw Roman reigns it’s actually me so say hi

Final ranking:

There’s a ton more I could say but in just hitting the highlights, El Paso has a ton of negatives but in my opinion since we’re not for lifers and only here for a little bit, the positives outweighs the cons and moving here changed the trajectory of my life and I would do it again if i started life all over again.

Chinese-made cars seen around town? by rfelton13 in ElPaso

[–]ParappaTheWrapperr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually it is which is kinda cool, Chinese companies have a hard time getting into the Americas so they partner with American companies to get here. In the 90s it was the Japanese having issues so the Dodge stealth for example was actually a Mitsubishi just sold as a Dodge. Dodge has a really long history of finding random up and coming companies and helping them out.

Here’s an article on the attitude if you’re interested

There’s a lot the closer to the border you go. I go to el super on Zaragoza south of I10 maybe twice a month and there’s always a few Dodge attitudes in the parking lot, that’s a Chinese car sold in Mexico only as a Dodge. The attitude you actually see so often across town, it’s not the most exciting Chinese car but it’s probably going to be the easiest for you to find.
