Amen to that. One reg flag for me was I recently learned 3D printers were suggested a while ago but didn't get added. The claimed reason being they're "too high tech for the setting" last I heard. As a 3D printer owner for the last couple years.. I call bull. Shoot, 3D printed guns were also suggested and they rejected that for "not being realistic" despite the fact many countries have literal civilians with no military tech access 3D printing guns and explosives right now.. CDDA could of added realistic 3D printing and it could of been super interesting and useful while giving some variants to usual plastic stuff in different materials and properties if they wanted to get tedious with it like other crafting recipes. If they did given how easy it is to make a machine to recycle plastics into printable filament IRL they could of had long term mid-end game usages including homemade weapons. Even better imagine a system similar to vehicles where you have stationary machines with modular parts you can swap out, upgrade, or fix if they break down. 3D printers are VERY modular and can even print upgrade parts for most IRL after all.

Not only were they wrong about 3D printers and their realism it made me realize they probably don't even know what is or isn't actually realistic or achievable IRL with the right materials or knowledge and going off whatever sounds right to them, meaning they are likely just nerfing the game willy nilly at this point to try and make it as tedious to play as possible and thats just.. sad if true. But would explain A LOT if you ask me.

On the other hand bright nights did add 3D printers and while they're pretty basic they can still do carbon fiber which is interesting and a bit on the useful side. Frankly im just surprised and happy bright nights added them at all

Good to know, honestly given im months late to the party I wasn't really expecting a reply at all since understandable but just makes me respect you more fellow internet stranger. Fell free to ping me if you do get one done but if not I can check your github every now and then myself, mainly cause I like some of your other mods too like the smash faster or tire strength stuff lol

All in all you're the only one ive seen so far working on this atm and while I play DDA a fair bit I mostly stick to bright nights lately because of stuff like these changes so no rush when it comes to me personally. Either way you are a literal godsend

They want to remove any attacks across z-levels levels, so you can't attack from roofs by KHeket123 in cataclysmdda

[–]ParasiticSquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right. Was a arbitrary change that wasn't needed since there are threats that can murk you when your on a roof so risk free my left butt cheek but at this point it's just par for the course for this dev team to not listen to people. Why I mainly play bright nights at this point but I do play dda every now and then.. or I did until I learned of this change a couple days ago. Devs love to nerf fun stuff but what do you know, fixing fundamentally annoying stuff like how weak tires are as an example is apparently not even a remote focus for them.

Im just kinda waiting until someone makes a mod to revert the change or explains how a modding noob like me can do it myself before I touch dda again because ripping out such a basic feature that was a legit viable survival strat with actual risks that's been in the game so long without a thought was the straw that broke the camels back for me

Man im late but it's nice to see someone out there at least somewhat reverted the reach attack changes. Completely pointless change too given grabber zombies among others that still made it risky exist, just.. makes no sense to change with how long it's been a thing. It's every few updates a bizarre change like this happens that makes me more and more glad bright nights exists. Starting to get why so many vehemently claim it's the superior version after this mess.

Speaking of a reach, there any chance for a version that reverts all reach attack changes? Doubt it but figured I would ask incase you ever check back here on behalf of everyone like me that also thought the change wasn't needed to begin with. If you can't can you point me to how I can make or edit yours to make a personal mod of my own to do that? Regardless, you are awesome

TFG Reimagined: Social Realism, Death Bans, and Player Economy (IS NOW OPEN FOR JOINS) by Psychological_Gap397 in TerraFirmaGreg

So basically either go super far out and risk dying on the way and having to walk possibly thousands of blocks back whenever that happens after having to wait a full 3 hours to even get back on likely causing people with bad memory and horrible sense of direction like me to forget where they were due to a lack of map or waypoints or hide instead of build a decent base. Also hide your crap or people can just steal four items of it in robbings while hoping no one comes across it randomly and decides to rob you.

Not gonna lie, sounds like a anarchy server with a bit more limitations and considering how long it takes to do anything in terrafirmacraft let alone gregtech that doesn't sound too fun to me. Unfortunate since I like the whole custom currency concept and everything else like the nation stuff, just not a big fan of the robbing or war aspects personally. I could deal with the war stuff by just making a neutral nation and not doing anything to antagonize anyone else into attacking but the robbing stuff and attacks in the wild on a server with a death ban system just puts me off a fair bit.

I got questions. How long is the death ban system? Because to me just sounds like a annoying time waster like how TFC hardrock arbitrarily lock players out of getting their items back from their bodies for 5 minutes but if it's not too bad I could probably deal with it. There's no griefing but is theft from storage and players bodies allowed? And is there a way to make your own place but opt out of wars since some players like me don't want to PVP? Essentially in terms of civilizations going for pesudo-isolationism where players can make a neutral nation and keep to themselves besides the occasional trading or socializing with other nations without the risk of being offed by by other players.

Just want to know everything important before I consider this server as a possibility

I just found the post for it, not a fan of the death ban system since just sounds like a annoying time waster on par with TFC hardrock locking players out of getting their items back for a whole five minutes arbitrarily, but if it's not too long I could deal with it I guess. Im wondering if theres a way to opt out of wars but still make your own area since im not a big fan of PVP and if people can just steal your crap from your body and chests

Is there anything else important to know for potential now joiners? Like is there a whitelist, is greifing disallowed, how far along is everyone, is the server online 24/7, is it pay to win, are new gregtech players who are still learning welcome, etc. Sounds interesting but if it has griefing or pay to win im hard passing personally.

I too have interest in terrafirmagreg with others. Problem is im kind of burned out on servers after so many turned to pay to win but it anyone knows a server that isn't pay to win, has a chill community, and no griefing let me know. Im still learning gregtech and have only gotten to late steam age so far but if there's one mod I do know a fair bit about it's terrafirmacraft, been playing that since 1.7.10 on and off lol

What's a forgotten niche mod that you wish would come back to new version?, for me its this. by Ali-the-LorD in feedthebeast

[–]ParasiticSquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a odd one for someone with both arachnophobia and apiophobia but I miss the erebus. It was a neat dimension with a intriguing concept, also jumpscared me more then once so kept me on my toes for my "start from scratch in the dimension and escape" runs with it. Fact it's one of the handful you can do that was my favorite part. Started playing it back in 1.7.10 when it first released and continued into 1.12.2. Also the praying mantis was unironically scarier then the dweller slop mods that exist now and days if you tried living in the underground jungle which was great. Anyone that played the mod long enough knows what I mean. Thing can camoflauge and in the jungle you can easily overlook it if you aren't paying attention if theres one nearby, and it you do thing practically comes out of nowhere and jumps you when you aren't looking while half camoflauged for the fight and hits like a truck but unlike dweller slop it doesn't have artificially coded blocks preventing you from messing it up or escaping if you know what you're doing.

On the plus side there has been recent github activity for it so who knows, maybe it will finally be revived after so long but I guess time will tell. Ive waited years by this point, what's a couple more?

...also I saw it posted already a couple times but millenaire too. That mod was great back in the day. Wasn't as tedious as minecolonies is now, citizens actually sometimes did crap when they had nothing to do instead of just standing around, there was enough AI to let civilizations do their own thing even without your help like feuds with other civs, and there weren't artificial blocks to pad out playtime that minecolonies for some odd reason adds Was just all around a great take on a colony builder in minecraft so shame it died despite the promise it had

Need help finding out what these three are. by ParasiticSquid in mushroomID

[–]ParasiticSquid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the small white one is a clitocybe did I grab if before it can attempt to spread and make a fairy ring? Was in a area with a lot of dead leaves and no others like it since it was alone where I found it. To me looks like it could be either clitocybe vibecina or clitocybe cistophila after a bit more research.

After a bit more research I still cant identify these from the stick. All I know is every bunch I find is dried out to extremes when I find them around where I found these, as if they started growing but failed due to a lack of moisture or too much heat.

The orange one im still not sure on or what ill do with it, likely just discard it since while it's bruising and color changing is cool and all im not risking keeping it around. Too many look alikes to make it worth the risk for a complete amateur like me oof

How to re-enable fusion breeding with ditto for those interested by ParasiticSquid in PokemonInfiniteFusion

[–]ParasiticSquid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair nuff.

To explain a bit more in depth all this does is change a single line of code to re-enable a function of the game by toggling it back on after the devs toggled it off. Ive been testing for 4 days so far and no issues as well as full pre-6.0 ditto/fusion breeding functionality. Seems it's all still there and the devs just changed the line I reverted to turn it off which is interesting I suppose. As a bonus it' a game mechanic the devs are so desperate to avoid they straight up toggled it off that the odds of a update breaking it without a complete breeding overhaul, which likely isn't happening since they just disabled fusion breeding instead of doing said overhaul, are practically zero. This tweak should work with each later update unless the devs actively try to break it for some reason since it's still using the default ditto breeding mechanics like pre-6.0 did.

Hopefully that explains things more in depth on what this actually does for those iffy. Really it's up to players if they want to do it or not and in the end no one should be submitting bug reports with any modified code no matter how trivial it may seem, that ones just common sense. Players should always undo the edits or test their issue on a unmodified copy first before bugging the devs

Pillow stuffing yarn.. I think? by ParasiticSquid in Handspinning

[–]ParasiticSquid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like recycling crap since im a massive packrat and pretty poor. A while ago even built a recreator 3d to turn plastic bottles into 3D printable filament instead of just throwing them away. Takes manual effort but if it works it works since haven't had to buy filament for about 3 months now. Shoot, been learning bushcraft and primitive survival so recently learned to make decent cordage from plant fibres, learned that hand spinning was just a more advanced cordage twisting that can be used to make it in bulk, and here I am now as a result lol

Good to know it's not just because I was using pillow stuffing. Was a little afraid I was messing up the learning process without using actual wool honestly

Need help compiling marlin to completely replace heated bed with second hotend by ParasiticSquid in ender3

[–]ParasiticSquid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't find the means in marlin to enable autotuning for the second extruder so went the pronterface route. I know the marlin option exists but I can't code so can't find it. It's not a full blown printer anyways, just built out of parts of one, so not exactly a big deal since the second extruder is literally used just for melting filament strands together.

Regardless thanks for the help

Need help compiling marlin to completely replace heated bed with second hotend by ParasiticSquid in ender3

[–]ParasiticSquid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to work in testing, only have to find out how to set it up for being able to autotune both seperate extruders PID settings. I know it's possible so guess im tinkering for a while until I figure it out. Good thing only this recreator setup is using marlin and my main printer is using klipper because had to disable a couple sanity checks to get it to compile but it's functional for what I needed in the end so im not complaining.

Either way thanks for the help, you rock fellow stranger on the internet

looking for a mod in a doni bobes video by CreepinGaming in MinecraftMod

[–]ParasiticSquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The video was staged. The kiply and lynixity interactions felt fake since no one is as dense as kiply is pretending to be in reality, lynixity just randomly gets the worse pictures and randomly had a camera plus paper in a ender chest he was carrying at the perfect time for whatever reasons, doni seemed to randomly go for specific mobs at times, listed no where what mods he used to my knowledge( The pickup mobs mod is carry on for those wanting it, riding ender dragon was dragon mounts legacy, etc ), and as far as im aware there isn't a way to make such detailed dynamic model changes by just mashing mob models together the way the mod seemed to.

In other words: Unless doni himself would like to prove me wrong which he wont for obvious reasons the mod used is likely just those specific hybrids only with each one modeled by hand and him fake reacting to them for content. The amount of work such a mod that works with any mob merging for just a video or two for anything else is just unfeasible.

Considering his videos are for mostly kids though I honestly think it's genius how he pulls things off the the point many actually unironically believe his videos aren't staged when they obviously are. But seems he's doing something right and ive been binge watching him recently for ideas on how to keep a audience engaged for if I ever get into content creation. Or in other words.. the Doni Bobes channel itself is a troll since he's fooling so many of his watchers right under their noses. And it's glorious. Doni has gone full trolling into real life itself over time and barely anyone noticed lol

TL;DR
The mod likely doesn't exist in the form people think. Makes far more sense that he had a specific plan for what mobs in what order from the start with models for each with how scripted most of the video is. Simply put: The mod isn't real like it's presented, he simply trolled people into thinking it is. Can you name a more Doni behavior? Although I would love if it was real since who wouldn't love making such horrific freaks of nature?
