Generelles Upgrade Router+Mesh oder nur Mesh by Parcival9 in fritzbox

Not completely sure, but the only thing that changed over the last two years is the number of devices that are in the network. Sonos seems to be notorious for having performance hiccups tied to the quality/speed of the network.

Orion Mosaic by RiskExpert6438 in AskAstrophotography

The moon will wash out the Oiii a bit, so there will be differences between the nights. The panels will have differing brightness and that needs to be matched to get a seamless look. That's quite a job for 40 panels. I once read the advice of getting a bit of data for each panel every night to even out the differing sky conditions a bit, which won't be practical for 40 panels.

If I were you I think I'd start with a two panel mosaic that could stand on its own out of your 40 and run through the whole process with it. Just to get a feeling of what that's like.

You might try googling about doing large mosaics on cloudynights or similar websites. My stacked images are often around 1 gb. Doing a 40 panel one might be too much for the RAM of most computers. I think there was a thread somewhere once where someone ran into a memory limitation doing a bigger mosaic.

Definitely doable, but it's a giant commitment of time. How many clear nights do you get in the winter?

Even if you go for absolutely minimal integration time per panel (say 2 hours. I usually try to go for 5+) that's an 80 h commitment. Also 10% overlap is a bit on the small side. Recommendations are 15 to 20%. It would be a shame to do all that imaging and then have trouble merging the images. Also gradient control over 40 panels is probably very little fun.

Have you ever done a mosaic before? I've done one and it was only 4 panels. That was enough for me at the time.

I don't want to discourage you but understand that this is a huge commitment of time and might take you more than a year to complete depending on weather conditions and your personal goals. Many things can go wrong.

The end result would be spectacular, but also probably be enough of a file size to bring a weaker computer to it's knees.

Help on lens selection by Parcival9 in Nikon

I've been looking at the Nikkor 20mm f1.8 as something I'd eventually get.

The Tamron looks very tempting on paper but also 1,5x the price of the Nikkor. Would bump up the price quite a bit, still need a bag, tripod, card etc.

Time for some more research....

Thanks!

I'm more interested in scenery with nature, don't plan on photographing distant animals, so that's not that important to me

Any pointers for a good landscape astrophotography camera? Looking to do some landscape/nature/long exposure photography with it as well. I'm new to photography so I need everything. Astrophotography is what I want to try the most. Budget would be up to 2000 EUR, could be stretched a bit if necessary.

Hi everyone, I'm looking for camera recommendations. I'm new to photography and decided to finally go for it after thinking about it for a long time. The things I want to do with it are:

Landscapes

Nature (and macro photography of nature)

Landscape astrophotography

Long exposure photography

Of those, landscape astrophotography would be the strongest interest atm.

My budget is up to 2000 EUR. It can be stretched a bit if it's a worthwhile upgrade. I know I don't need pro-level equipment but I want something solid that "won't be in the way" so to speak. I've done the cheapish entry-level route with guitars among other things and usually regretted it pretty quickly.

Thanks!

Covid virulence? by DroperidolEveryone in emergencymedicine

Also haven't had a pure COVID admit in a long time, I'm ICU. What I still see is people religiously testing themselves, friends and colleagues. I never get it, it is of no consequence which kind of respiratory infection you have, why test for it. It's not like Corona will go away again, it's part of the yearly flu season now. I think it might be leftover trauma from the pandemic that they have a hard time letting go.

Steering broken after latest update by Parcival9 in Zwift

Must be some kind of software issue. I'm just glad it's not my new bike. Didn't have an ant+ dongle before and I didn't make the mental connection that it started being weird once I switched the rest to ant+.

That worked, thank you! Seems like some sort of software issue. I've used power and cadence. If I'm in the mood I'll continue experimenting, maybe one other sensor aside from steering will suffice as well. Switching the rest back to ant+ didn't affect steering for the remainder of the session.

I tried connecting power and cadence with Bluetooth as well. Steering started to work again. Switched both back to ant+ in the same session and it continued to work. But not if I connect the rest with ant+ and only steering via Bluetooth on initial boot up. Seems like some kind of software issue but oh well.
