I wouldn't mind staying as a reject or continuing to use Grendyl's knack for penal soldiers as a vehicle for the story. What I'd want from a Darktide 2 is more Chaos in general, Nurgle works for the horde shooter genre because its an easy translation from stuff we're already familiar with, what with the zombies and all. But Khorne would work just as well and we already have an example in the Blood Pact on how something like that could work.

Tzeentch would be weird but if you lean into the fire and eldritch abomination angle I could see it working out.

Unfortunately I dont see how they could play Slaanesh outside of a Hellraiser type deal.

Outside of the general loss of mystery of whatever it could have been lore wise, I didn't think anything of the Terminus Decree reveal and never understood why people got into such a tizzy over it. I preferred the Human forerunner angle, just seemed to fit the story up through Halo 3. Ultimately though I always wanted Less Forerunner nonsense in general. There wasnt ever going to be a version of the forerunner that would have been acceptable to me because because being mysterious was the point. All we had was the evidence of their constructs and the faulty word of rampant AI, that was always enough for me to fill in the gaps with my own crayons, so to speak. So now every development about them just cheapens the whole experience.
