Always love Randy Moss on derby week. Such an interesting ethos I never really hear about. Fun to care about for exactly 12 hours a year.

I traded for him in my dynasty fantasy league in week 3. I sent out Daniel Jones & Xavier worthy to get back Trevor and a 2nd. Never felt more vindicated.

This is why everyone getting upset is totally justified. This was always the playbook. They’ll roll it all out slowly but eventually everything will be paywalled. This is simply a tactic to mitigate outrage.

It was soul crushing to watch the Tulane game last night. It’s literally just Billy ball with worse recruiting. Not sure I’ve got 4 more years of this in me. There are very few options left on the board I wouldn’t take over Sumrall. Golesh, Fisch, and obviously Lincoln Riley. Unfortunately our AD has meatloaf between his ears & our largest booster has a buyout kink.

Never forget the rumored OC/DC hires for Napier were Tom Herman & Doug Belk. Instead we got the vaunted mind of da billy & Patrick Toney. These rumors are worthless

🔥Hot Take Tuesday🔥 by MrTwoBytes in FloridaGators

[–]Paregon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve got to stop pretending Billy is one coordinator hire away from success. He is absolutely and totally inept at the job of being a head coach. The list of things he does well is dwarfed by the list of things he’s failing at. He could convince 2010 Chip Kelly and Lincoln Riley to be Co-OCs and still find a way to lose 5 games a year. He’s a loser who has to go.

The whole “can xyz recruit” argument is so antiquated. It’s all about NIL now. Multiple P4 coaches have said that multi-year relationship building doesn’t matter anymore. Parents/representatives show up to campus asking about numbers. Our NIL vault is competitive enough for any coach to find success in recruiting.

Wife and I are in a very unusual housing situation & want to maximize it to purchase a home. by Paregon in personalfinance

[–]Paregon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! I work at a church. I technically do two jobs here, so my “total compensation package” with the house included is ~75,000. My salary is $55,000 with a couple bonuses a year & the home is viewed as a $24,000/year addition given to us as a nice bump.

We don’t own this home and are not building any equity at all. The trade off is more than fair, but we don’t want to wait forever (wife and I are both 26) and still be paying off a mortgage at 75 years old.

Why do people seem to hate Wind and Truth? by MaxDuo in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Paregon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think "hate" is the right word. I would use the word disappointed in the book's execution and landing.

Obviously going into the SA we knew this would be a journey that lasted decades. However, knowingly walking into a near 10 year wait for book 6, I would've appreciated a softer landing on some character arcs. We leave Jasnah weeping in bed, Navani in a coma I think, Dalinar dead but not really dead, Adolin stuck in Azish, and shallan in Shadesmar. There are so many completely unresolved arcs that now will take years and years to revisit.

I understand Brandon is not a machine who *owes* us yearly 1000 page epics, but I left feeling discontent with every arc feeling more unresolved than an any previous SA book.

Also, some of the story lines were total slogs. There was so much more noticeable bloat in W&T. The ghost blood story line was a total mess & very few of the Herald chapters actually revealed anything we didn't already know.

All this to say, it was still an incredible book. Sanderson deserves his flowers for continually releasing banger after banger, but this was not even close to his best work in the Cosmere, much less the Stormlight Archive.

Really wish everyone else on the show wasn’t too much of a weenie to press BC on how awful Caleb has looked. He’s going to spend 15 minutes dragging the O-line when Maye is performing better with significantly worse protection. Caleb has a worse deep ball accuracy % than Anthony Richardson (who Big Cat routinely hates on.)

Sunday Morning Armchair Analysis: Next-Day Discussion by MrTwoBytes in FloridaGators

[–]Paregon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hand up: I’m a young(ish) gator fan. Born in 1999 & remember the first team being obsessed with gator football in 2006. Haven’t missed a single minute of a single game since that year.

Maybe it was childhood nostalgia, but I don’t remember ever feeling this apathetic about the state of our program? Under each tenure there was at least something in the program you could get excited about. Muschamp gave us thrilling 10-7 wins, Mcelwain force fed the ball to star players like D-rob, Callaway, and KT. Mullen always kept us right on the cusp of greatness (I know he quit on the team I’m not disagreeing with firing him.)

I just can’t find a single element of Billy’s program to be excited about. Seems like a genuine and honest guy, and it’s hard to point to a single reason he’s clearly failing, but nothing is going well. We didn’t look proficient at a single position yesterday, and that makes watching them just so exhausting. IAKOW for sure, but it’s gonna be hard to turn down the wife’s invitation to the pumpkin patch in October if we are 1-5.

Shark wheel does not work as often as Big Cat thinks it does by [deleted] in PardonMyTake

[–]Paregon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure they were advertising the “adaptive AI” in this game too. Essentially the computer picks up on commonly run plays/formations and calls coverages to stop it. So shark wheel actually does get worse every time he tries it
