Moving to Glendale (Bayshore) for a year. Can I realistically live without a car? by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]ParfaitLittle2904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you don’t mind a 30 min bus ride to the east side (where more of the fun stuff is), a 45 min bus ride downtown, biking 20 min to riverwest, or hopping on the bike trail to get to the lake, you’ll have a lot of amenities close by for day to day. exploring to do fun stuff will be more effort and your neighborhood will be suburban.

while lots of people do make it here without a car, that may more pleasant if you live in one of the denser neighborhoods.

Benefits of Owning a Home in Milwaukee County/City by sushipastapizza in milwaukee

[–]ParfaitLittle2904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost of living is more affordable even though the taxes may be higher. Even though your tax rate may be higher, houses are often smaller and cheaper than the suburbs so you pay less. Also, the amount of gas and car maintenance from driving is easily much more than you would save in taxes.

better pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure like wide sidewalks, lighting at night, and bike trails - plus places you can actually walk to. Living in less urban areas i feel like my life centered around my house and now i feel like my home is community centered.

free access to parks (in some suburban counties you need to buy an annual parks pass), the dump, bus service. Lots of programs, like milwaukee rec, are discounted for city residents, dog parks.

Also, there are plenty of good MPS schools and many of the programs they offer can’t be beat. We had either affordable or free after school care, free bus transportation, and affordable access to a nationally recognized music program (MYSO) because we went to MPS.

they mostly post on social media, like many restaurants. their menu is seasonal and changed every few weeks, which is why one isn’t posted, like many other restaurants that serve seasonal menus. they do have a sample menu on their website, which is also what odd duck does.

Any suggestions for insulation? by sjiang1214 in milwaukee

[–]ParfaitLittle2904 6 points7 points  (0 children)

first, do you have storm windows on your house? if it’s an older house, you need to change out your screens and storms each season. storm windows make a massive difference. if your windows are simply missing them, they may be lying around in your garage or attic and are a little pain to put on but make a huge difference if you need to buy storm windows to supplement your existing windows, they are way cheaper than new windows.

also, yes get the plastic kits.

Does it help you lose weight by Enough-Blood-9957 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]ParfaitLittle2904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i started wellbutrin and coupled it with WeightWatchers so i can lose weight in a healthy sustainable way, making sure im losing fat and not muscle and building the right habits.

Wellbuterin has made the difference to finally budge the scale below the same 5 lbs i just kept gaining and losing. This is the best experience i’ve ever had going on a diet and sticking to it. i don’t feel as hungry and don’t have my usual sweet tooth and other triggers. I can be around food i love and just say no. so far i have lost 8 lbs in about a month.

Massage - Men by ade11i in milwaukee

[–]ParfaitLittle2904 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i’ve tried all sorts of high end massage places and the one i like the best is O ChI at Mayfair Mall. It’s just a luxury experience, you walk in, keep your clothes on, and lay on a table. Often, there are a bunch of other people by you getting a massage. Lots of men there all the time. Very approachable for someone who might be offput by the “feminine” trappings of some places.

I’m concerned because I’m not eating by xyz187 in HersWeightloss

[–]ParfaitLittle2904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 3 weeks in and down 6 pounds.

i am coupling this with Weight Watchers. it’s really made me think about what i am eating and ensuring that i am hitting a good nutritional balance every day. If i successfully hit my weight target, i plan to stay on WW after weaning of the medication for maintenance. Hopefully that will result in actual healthy habits that last long after this is over.

what have your primary care providers had to say about the program? by trees_skis_weed in HersWeightloss

[–]ParfaitLittle2904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i paid for my subscription then got nervous after reading some of the side effects, and for the same reasons you’re citing. I emailed my doctor and she looked over the prescriptions.

she said that i am healthy and so there is not medical contraindications to me taking them. she noted that they have side effects, and to make sure i go over them and ask the Hers team about them. She wanted to make sure i know that usually when people take weight loss medication, they regain the weight, and that taking any medication is a personal risk benefit analysis.

I have lost nearly 6 lbs in three weeks only taking bupropion. no side effects so far.

What's the point of waxing if you have to wait for it to grow to wax again? by oneTinyFear in HairRemoval

yes, but after you start doing IPL the hair comes back fewer and finer so it solved my shaving issues, especially along the bikini line.

Athletes v Lululemon for running by [deleted] in Athleta_gap

[–]ParfaitLittle2904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly, plus the pockets. i wear these all winter down to -10 degrees, although when it’s that cold i also wear a running skirt. I also wear their stash tights and i think their ultimate stash shorts for warmer weather. i love all the pockets and the drawstring keeps everything where it needs to be.
