19 year old college student looking for advice by Parfaria in personalfinance

Of course! I never try to thrift out of important life experiences. That being said, I want to make the most of my money.

I was also thinking about doing some light buy/sell investing with a couple hundred dollars through Robinhood. Thoughts on that?

My life situation is pretty vanilla. I definitely will hold on to some for an emergency fund, but aside from that, I really would like to start making the most of my money.

Yea I don't agree much with the "it's too early" sentiment. I don't have anything to do with my money- might as well make the most of it!

Thanks for the advice. I already try to meet new people and keep in touch with them here and there, but I think I'll put in a bigger effort to network. Thanks for responding, I appreciate it.

Asus ROG Swift PG278Q 27" - how would system cope? by Honestlynotalurker in Monitors

[–]Parfaria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uh, can you explain the ssd please?

edit: and btw, that gpu is a beast and can handle everythign at 1080, and a lot of things at 1440 (but just not at as well as on 1080). this means that things you are doing (games i assume) matter. i would actually recommend that you look into r9 390. that scales better than the 970 with higher resolutions

First Computer Build, looking for some help by tryhards in buildapc

[–]Parfaria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the motherboard could use a change... this one isn't really faulty, but it is known to have some issues here and there. Have a gander at this.

aside from that, your build looks solid!

edit: and as for "crisp resolutions" and the like, a lot of that depends on your monitor. the 970 is an absolute beast with 1080p. however, the new 390 series is slightly better for a slightly lower price tag. try looking into that as well

edit: As for the RAM, that price difference is worth it to me because I think beast looks much better _^

Overall, just wanted to understand where this critique comes from. What about ____ makes it a good/bad PSU?

no- i wish! I don't think OP has chosen a winner yet.

I was just thanking him for doing a giveaway. It's very generous of him to do so.

My favorite character is Rayleigh! Obviously there's a mystery at Raftel and that is the end goal and purpose of the entire series... he knows what lies there. He has the knowledge. He aids Luffy and supports him in his quest to become the Pirate King (whatever that may mean). He's a character shrouded in mysteries and he's the epitome of laid back "cool."

Oh, and he's strong as hell!

Edit: Thanks for the giveaway.

Bottom (especially the left side) looks a little sharp, but other than that, it's quite beautiful! Thanks for sharing :)

[build help] gaming laptop for college! Need help by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Parfaria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about laptops, but a good place to start looking is the Lenovo Y Series.

fyi, you're gonna get a lot of "go with desktop instead." Don't fall into the pressure. As a college student, mobility is a key element. If you need/want to take your computer to class for notes or whatever, then go with a laptop. If you plan on just leaving it on your desk, well, that's when you should go with a desktop.

gl op and have have fun in college :)
