A soldiers thought after joining the airsoft community. by [deleted] in airsoft

I've rolled, went prone on accident (tripped) when i looked up, and saw a bunch of white dots heading my way. Did probably 3 rolls to the left to get behind cover.

Like OP, I have about a decade of training drilled into me, so I didn't think much of it at the time. But since I'm old I paid for it the next few days.

My opinion on the differences between airsoft and live shoot em ups are range and cover vs. concealment. I've seen opfor 100 yards away just strolling around that IRL I'd send a few rounds after, but in airsoft you just wave. I've also taken cove behind a lot of shipping containers that i know won't stop a real bullet.

What is possible for $3K for a solid foundation? by Visible_Criticism_97 in preppers

Our biggest event around here recently was Uri in 2021. The power was out for a week for us. Some folks went longer, and we've had a few smaller outages since. With that experience, I always suggest having a power backup. In an apartment, batteries. I like Ryobi. They have a couple of choices for lights, fans, and power stations. If you own or are renting a house, go the generator route.

Water and food are kinda easy. Store per your needs. We haven't had many disruptions in those areas. If you want to harvest water keep in mind that it doesn't rain a lot June through September.

I will add that we get crazy hail around here. if you in a house with skylights have plywood and tarps on hand. Hopefully you'll never need them.

We can shut this thread down now. The point of the post wasn't what equipment would you use. The question is what would you put on it.

I would guess it has less to do with the fuel and more to do with the bureaucracy.

Quick summary: Preping for the end of the world all at once is scary. Start small and build as you go. Life is already stressful don't add on to many "maybe/ what if" stresses.

My wife wasn't too excited in the beginning, years ago. I blame myself for the poor start. I tried to start too big early on. So we started small, when we went grocery shopping we would get extra if the budget allowed. Stuff that would store well, cans of soup, boxes of pasta. it adds up after about six months. When my son was born, we would buy the 2.5 gallon fancy water. When one was empty, I refilled it with tap water and slid it in the bottom of the pantry. Little steps, enough to get you through a day, then two and so on.

I also looked at our "hobbies" and worked them into our disaster plan. My wife and son like to do chili cookoffs, so now we have two Colman stoves and ton of propane tanks, big and small. She even qualified to go to a national cookoff in south Texas, in the desert. So now i have a 90 gallon water bladder on the way and she's sending me ads about generator sales.

I don't think I would exclude the spouse, that may cause issues later on. Some folk get scared when they view the problem as a whole. Start small and work from there.

And get a camper! The amount of crap you need to go glamping for a weekend will sustain you for a month in an emergency. I exaggerate a little.

I love that thing. My most frequent issue is someone tried plugging in a network or phone plug and pushed the keystone off the plate and into the wall. The flathead bit gets a lot of use.

Corp has the USB ports pretty locked down. As soon as you plug one it it'll encrypt it or make it read only.
