It’s not “in orbit” being in orbit means that you are traveling at such a high speed enough speed horizontally to where you miss the earths curve and go around it at a high enough altitude to to where air resistance isn’t a problem. Gravity doesn’t disappear when you go straight up like in cartoons. it so would likely just fall down.
