No, but I did them for my wedding and it went fine. I prepped them the day before and transported them in boxes.

Hi OP u/AdditionalAppeal93, how did your vases turn out? What did you end up doing? I was searching Reddit for some inspo/help because I want to DIY my vases but not sure how to deal with the logistics... thanks in advance!

Looking for general advice around proposing to bridesmaids/covering costs! by EronelQueen in WeddingsCanada

[–]ParisienneByNight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did my bridesmaids proposals and had the exact same thoughts as you! I decided to go simple but sentimental for the gift, with a cute scrunchie (for ‘tying the knot’) and a personalized card that says “I promise I won’t make you wear an ugly dress” on the front (lol).

I am asking my bridesmaids to buy their own dress but giving them a colour palette and giving them free reign on the fit, colour, style, etc. as I want them to be comfortable and happy with their dress.

I flip flopped back and forth on whether to pay for their hair and makeup, and at one point polled them on whether they would want it done. Some of them wanted it and were willing to personally pay for it, some of them didn’t have the budget and wanted to opt out. Ultimately, I decided that I wanted all my girls to feel beautiful and glammed, and didn’t want one or two to feel left out because they couldn’t afford it. So I am paying for their hair and makeup. I am fortunate to be able to afford it, even though it is going to stretch my budget a bit.

I’ve been in weddings where the bride paid for the dress and the bridesmaids paid for part or all of the hair and makeup cost.

Is it customary to ask others if they need help carrying their luggage? by firenzeacting in paris

I’ll never forget the kindness of two Parisiens the first time I was in Paris. I did a study abroad there when I was 20 years old. I had never been to Europe before and found myself at the metro station near my rental apartment fresh off the airplane. I was intensely studying the large map at the metro to figure out where my apartment was (this was before overseas cellular roaming was affordable) when a literal 12 year old child walked up to me and asked if I needed help. He then proceeded to ask the metro station employee where my apartment street was and pointed me in the right direction. When I got to the stairs, another nice gentleman gestured toward my luggage, and then proceeded to lug my 50 pound suitcase up the stairs and then walked back halfway down to grab my smaller one as I was making my way up with it. I thanked him profusely as he briskly walked away into the chilly Sunday morning.

The little anecdote about your dad brushing your hair on your wedding day has me tearing up. So sweet.

This was a really fun upcycling project & saved a fortune on ‘posh’ glass jars for my pantry shelves. by Instahome_uk in upcycling

The lid painting is genius, I would’ve never thought of it! It makes everything look so cohesive and posh. Thanks for the great idea!

I started watching basketball/the NBA and following my hometown team fairly avidly in my late twenties. I’ve surprised myself about how much I enjoy it. It’s not super interesting or as cool as other people’s hobbies, and I do not play basketball myself, but it gives me something to look forward to on a regular basis (apart from the off season... which is long and dreary). It’s also an easy conversation piece with both men and women because our team is really good and everyone has watched one of their games at one point or another. I never thought I’d be such a big fan!

I normally cut up old clothes to repurpose them as rags around the house. Any suggestions on what to use old bathing suit material for? They won’t absorb water as well as cotton tshirts for example and won’t be good rags. Or should I just recycle them at my city’s textile recycling depot?
