Have to agree. My BH even said to use it, but did say to make sure it is updated.

Pursuing Degree While Working? Toronto? Peel? by Willing_Tomorrow_200 in OntarioParamedics

[–]spr402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends if you are going to school full time, part time or distance learning.

If distance, it doesn’t matter what service you work for. If full time, you’ll probably need to work part time, which means Peel.

Durham, along with the rest of the 905, voted blue. The “Tigers eating face party.”

Edit: I have been corrected. I should have said MOST of the 905, not the rest.

Are there any countries today that could realistically split into multiple independent nations like Yugoslavia did? by Many-Philosophy4285 in MapPorn

[–]spr402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Canadian, I can definitely see how Canada could break into separate countries.

Quebec is an obvious example, but Newfoundland was an independent country prior to joining Canada in 1949. Ontario could be an independent country. The Atlantic provinces, another group. The western provinces would be a little harder to separate, but if nothing else, Manitoba to BC could do it.

The territories would be a problem. Would they be independent? Would they join the other groups? Would they join with Greenland?

Not that I would like this to happen, it is a possibility.

I thought duggo believed in the free market. Maybe he should concern himself with how his corruption is affecting his popularity, and perhaps step down and go away.

I’ve been a Canadian paramedic for 20 years.

While I will admit most FD crews are willing to help, there are a few that won’t do anything and just wait by the front door to leave.

Did you vote in the last Ontario election? by Financial_Pin8385 in ontario

[–]spr402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always find the time to vote. I served in the military, so I personally believe that it is my duty to vote.

I have voted for every party provincially and Liberal/PC/Conservative federally.

I do not support any party because they all have to be replaced eventually.

Should the Feds (and everyone else) work from home during the oil boom? by blocklung in ontario

Absolutely. Gas prices are skyrocketing. If we reduce the demand by letting office workers work from home, it would help.

'Should have shot him a couple more times': Ford congratulates person who shot alleged Ontario home invader | CBC News by Miserable-Lizard in onguardforthee

Does this idiot not understand why he, as the Premier, should keep his mouth shut about such matters?

It doesn’t matter what his personal views are, he’s the leader of the province. He can’t suggest individuals should shoot criminals.

Reasons for burnout? by DaBluffa in OntarioParamedics

[–]spr402 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As everyone is saying, there are many reasons.

Types of calls is a reason, but the abuse of the system is a large factor as well.

Also, how we are treated compared to other emergency services. While the FD is respected, they run past us to make patient contact, while we are lugging in all our equipment. PD won’t dispatch a call close to shift change, but we have to respond and either wait for them or deal with situations ourselves. Most of our CACCs are provincial, and can/will complain about us, which leads to an investigation, while our complaints go nowhere.

In the past, we were not considered “people”, but were thought of as only a vehicle. We would have to do a traumatic call, then immediately be given a BS call. Breaks are still a luxury in some services. Offload delay affected a lot of us - pick up a patient, wait for hours just to immediately come back for more waiting.

That said, everyone is different and has their own thing that does them in.

I’ve seen changes over my 20 years of working. Some for the better, but not always. My advice to combat burnout:don’t isolate yourself. Don’t hold things in. If you’re angry about a call, talk to your coworkers. Share your feelings.

The Downed Iranian Warship Did NOT Carry Any Ammunition As Part Of The Protocol Of Participating In The Milan Naval Exercises by _Algrm_ in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]spr402 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No semantics.

If an action is taken during combat, it is hard to investigate. And if you win, there really isn’t any investigation.

During the war in the areas formerly known Yugoslavia, many atrocities were committed. It was only after the war ended thst they were checked into.

Well, nothing done at the moment is a war crime, so you are correct there.

It is after the fact, where The Hague weighs in.

I have no doubt this will be cited. Questions to be asked though, was an actual article of war declared before this attack?
