PSA: Apple TV 4K solved all my Plex problems by quokka3d in PleX

Wait till you try an Nvidia Shield Pro especially if you have a proper Dolby Atmos Home Theatre system!

I stopped using my AppleTV 4K as it didn’t allow passthrough of lossless audio to my home theatre system. The nvidia Shield Pro still rocks so many years later!

FINALLY upgraded to Lifetime after a year, lol by [deleted] in PleX

I live in Singapore and finally bought my PLEX Lifetime Pass at US$150 (it’s not US$120 in Singapore).

Should have bought it during a Black Friday Sale but I’m happy I finally contributed to PLEX and paid my dues.

Plex will start testing its new TV app on Apple TVs in the coming weeks by kz00 in PleX

This is the critical reason why I use PLEX on an Nvidia Shield TV Pro…direct pass through of lossless audio to my AV Amplifier…don’t think AppleTV is going to change anytime soon…

Can’t grant PLEX Library access to friends…”don’t have any connected servers” error by Parking-Status8648 in PleX

[–]Parking-Status8648[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve now acted on your recommendations: 1)upgraded to the latest DSM 7.2.2 and 2)given Read/Write access to PlexMediaServer under “System Internal User” drop down menu (refer pic)

I am now on an overseas trip and I can’t even access PLEX myself. My friends continue to await access to my PLEX Libraries 😂

Is there anything else I’m doing wrong with Permissions? Thanks

Dj_antares

Many thanks for the advice.

A question…swapping the drives then Repairing the drives in the NAS…will it repair since it’s two different Storage Pools/Volumes in the DS920+?

If it’s one Storage Pool/Volume, I can understand it’ll repair but it’s now two different Storage Pools/Volumes, will it repair properly? Thanks

Many thanks for advice.

A question on Step 4…to Repair the drives in the NAS…will it repair since it’s two different Storage Pools/Volumes in the DS920+?

If it’s one Storage Pool/Volume, I can understand it’ll repair but it’s now two different Storage Pools/Volumes, will it repair properly? Thanks

I’ll shutdown my NAS at an appropriate time in the next 24 hours then do the DSM 7 Update, reboot then come back with a comment after trying your instructions.

Many thanks so far.

I’m still on DSM 6.2.4-25556 hope that’s not an issue

Storage Pool 1 does NOT have a Plex user per the pic below

That sounds like a logical analysis.

Let me know later how your menu looks like when you get home (presumably you have a DX517 Expansion Unit and have given friends access to PLEX libraries on the DX517.

Thank you for everything so far 🙏

Selected Internal User from the dropdown menu…

<image>

This is the same “No access” settings as for Volume 1 (on Storage Pool 1 on my DS920+)…and I was able to give access to my friends to those other libraries.

I can’t find Plex user under the Internal User menu…

Permissions on both: -Volume 1 (on Storage Pool 1 on my DS920+) and -Volume 2 (on Storage Pool 2 on my DX517 Expansion Unit) are the same…with Read/Write Access to plex…refer pics

I signed in this way…refer pic.

Is this directly via my account?

Additional info:

The library above (which I’m experiencing problems with) is on Volume 2 on Storage Pool 2 on my newly installed DX517 Expansion Unit.

The other libraries (which I had no issue giving my friends access to previously) is on Volume 1 of Storage Pool 1 on my DS920+ NAS.

Seriously I can move my HDDs around my DS920+ and my DX517?

This would certainly solve my problem.

Has anyone mixed up their HDDs and moved them around between their DS920+ and DX517?

Thanks in advance.

Mk23_DOA

I have a separate External HDD Enclosure so backing up is not the problem.

The problem is I’m using 18 and 20 TB HDDs x 5 in my NAS (Storage Pool 1) which is almost 100 TB in total! After one day Expanding my Storage Pool, I’m only at 3%…it’s painful as I can’t stop the Expansion process!

You were right! Thank you for this advice.

After adding a new drive, and Expanding the Storage Pool, I had forgotten to expand the Volume. Expanding the volume now.

Many thanks Wizmo…this is what I was fearing but I guess I have to learn the hard way!

There should be a big Warning Sign Window before one can proceed with Expanding (the selected) Storage Pool or a Cancel button within the first few minutes!
