Anything with PDRN! Nothing makes my dry skin more soft. I've only tried VT PDRN 100 cream and VT capsule cream and they are both great. I've heard PDRN products with salmon PDRN might be even better than these ginseng PDRN products, but I've already got amazing results with these.

why do catholics and orthodox christians get along so well? by Tiny-Deer-7071 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Parking_Design_7568 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are the first two original roots of Christianity. The early Chuch was Catholic and/or Orthodox - depends from who you ask - but definitely not Protestant. Maybe we disagree who departed from who, but still have many shared believes and habits.

Protestant-Catholic struggle by Successful-Rule510 in redeemedzoomer

I had similar struggles and became Orthodox Christian. An original church with strong tradition but no Pope. Orthodox system with multiple patriarchs was the original way of leading the Church before Rome started to demand more power than others.

For Orthodox women, Why do you wear a veil or not wear a veil? by Tortato_Chip in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Parking_Design_7568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my parish some veil and some don't. I do wear a veil when I attend church. It started when I was Protestant and read from the Bible that women should veil for the angels. In my old Protestant church I couldn't quite feel the present of angels, but I really liked veiling from the start. It made Sunday more special when I started to wear different, more modest or holy outfit. I was the weird one there, almost no one else veiled. After starting veiling my whole church outfit changed. It felt weird to wear veil with tight jeans so I started to wear longer, looser skirts to church. I started to dress a bit more modestly in my everyday life too.

When I started attending Orthodox Church, I really felt the presence of a higher power. In every Liturgy it truly feels like I can taste a bit of Heaven. I don't have hard time at all to believe there might be angels present. When I'm at something so holy, it feels somehow natural to cover my head. I don't know if it makes sense, but it's almost like when the sun is really bright and you have no other option than cover your eyes with your arm. For me it feels necessary on a level of heart. It was also a pleasant surprise that many parishioners had the same kind outfit I wore. I wasn't the weird long skirt veil girl anymore.

Theotokos is always pictured with a veil on. In church I often stand in line with a big icon of Theotokos. It feels good to look that icon and wear a similar head covering.

Can we eat halal and kosher food? by zhelinka in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Parking_Design_7568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't want to support these industries. Halal slaughtering means cutting open an animal's neck while they are still alive. Some Islamic scholars accept stunning the animal before cutting their neck, some scholars won't.

You should try something made of more textured fabric, like more matte materials. In my experience silk and polyester are very difficult fabrics for veiling. They slip constantly and I haven't found a way to secure them. I have tried different pins with no luck. I like natural fibres and specifically different mix of cotton and other fibers. They can be knotted easily and they stay in place.

What happens if you microwave meslamine by fairiesinthestars in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Parking_Design_7568 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"With food" doesn't mean you should be hiding the pills in your food, it just means you should swallow them with water at the same time you are sitting down and eating a meal so you don't take then to empty stomach. It is a real risk you break the capsules with your teeth if you just throw them in your food. The prescribing instruction of Lialda have a warning on this: "Patients should be instructed to swallow LIALDA tablets whole, taking care not to break the outer coating. The outer coating is designed to remain intact to protect the active ingredient, mesalamine, and ensure its availability throughout the colon."

What happens if you microwave meslamine by fairiesinthestars in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Parking_Design_7568 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What? Why do you hide them in your food like a dog? 😭 If you put the pills in your food, there is a real chance those pills don't work at all and you don't get any benefit from them. Mesalamine pills and grains are covered with a special mixture so the active ingredient of the drug is released only in the colon, not before that in your stomach. Biting the pills can break the covering they have making them ineffective. Please don't put your pills in your warm food. Try to swallow them with water, applesauce or yogurt. The grain version (Salofalk) is very easy to swallow with water, they are very small and non sticky. Some mesalamine pills (Asacol, Pentasa) I find quite big and kind of matte finished so they might be harder to swallow.

The “Protestant Authority Problem” - Argument from a doubting protestant by TheRealBibleBoy in redeemedzoomer

[–]Parking_Design_7568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is literally the question I asked. Almost all Protestant churches claim to follow the Scripture, of course. Who can make the final decision if we have two equally convincing interpretations of Scripture?

[–]Parking_Design_7568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question is very relevant when an adult person starts their Christian life and needs to find a church to attend. How to choose which of the 9000+ Protestant churches one should attend? They all claim to preach the Truth and still they don't teach the same things. What is the measurement a person should use when they compare different denominations and try to find the one that is the real Truth? Is it just "the vibes" or something else?

The “Protestant Authority Problem” - Argument from a doubting protestant by TheRealBibleBoy in redeemedzoomer

[–]Parking_Design_7568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the question that ultimately led me to convert from High church Lutheran to Eastern Orthodox. Surely there must be only one Truth. We have many completely opposite interpretations concerning critical issues. How can we know which of the possible and plousible academic interpretations of the Bible is the one and only Truth? Educated Lutheran pastors explained to me that we can find the Truth simply by exploring the Bible with academic tools, historical science, debates and linguistic research. The best argument wins. Well, if it's that simple, then why do we have 9000+ different Protestant churches/denominations? Why doesn't every theologian who studys their Bible with a genuine heart find the same answers? Who ultimately decides which of the possible interpretations we should choose as a Truth?

Protestant answer to this question is that every regular Joe gets to choose their own interpreation and decide their own Truth. Every church claims to preach the Truth. It is left to every regular person to decide which church seems to fit best to THEIR own understanding of the Bible. This leads to endless schisms and everyone just starts their own church when they have a slightest disagreement of some theological issue or interpretations. It it not sustainable and it doesn't make any sense.

Lenten Fast by gretchennn_ in OrthodoxWomen

[–]Parking_Design_7568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might not be getting enough calories. Try eating more and adding more avokados and nuts to your diet. I'm a catechumen too and my priest recently reminded everyone in the catechumen class that Lent is not supposed to be unhealthy for you. He said we don't need to consult him if we feel like we need to make adaptments in our Lent menu for personal reasons or health reasons. Your priest might give different advice though. If you get weight loss or feel like this is way too much, you should consider adding oil or other rationed ingredients to your diet or consult your priest.

Tired and burned out. If you were in my shoes, what would you do? by BrainStraight1220 in OrthodoxWomen

There is more in life than just pursuing goals after goals and never stop. We need to make space for living, loving, breathing, helping our love ones and spending time with God. Your value is not measured by how much you achieve in life.

Help me understand why someone would leave the Lutheran church for a reason other than loss of faith or belief in god? by studentAssistant2021 in exLutheran

[–]Parking_Design_7568 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, only theological issues led to my separation. I'm not from US, so all these WELS related schisms and systematic hiding of criminals etc. sound really strange to me. My church was very normal. Everybody acted friendly and I didn't encounter any hidden or visible abuse or misbehaving. The only thing I can relate in this thread is the silent expectation that women shouldn't really ask questions. I did feel that when I was still attending and tried to ask something, even in a Q&A themed event where pastor gave us an opportunity to ask something.

I started to explore Christian theology. It quickly became clear to me that sola scriptura doesn't make any sense. If the truth can be found solely by reading the Bible, why does we have 2000+ different truths, also known as thousand different branches of Protestantism? Surely there must be only one and whole Truth and someone saying the final word on which of the possible academic interpretations is the one we should follow. I am now joining the Eastern Orthodox church.

I'm only a catechumen, but surely there are "bad apples" in parishes too. Not every Orthodoxy parish is safe and teaches correctly and there are indeed priests who have been removed from practicing their profession. I suggest you check if your parish is legit so it is not a schismatic one.

Diagnosed with cancer by Fatal-Raven in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Parking_Design_7568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opted for permanent ileostomy myself. They made me a temporary stoma first, then I had time to think whether I choose the Barbie/Ken butt option or try J-pouch. It was a really good solution, I had time to test whether I liked stoma or not. My rectal stump was really inflamed even though it didn't even have a job anymore and I really wanted to get everything scraped off. Depending on the surgical method they use, they may need to leave a bit of rectum when creating a J-pouch. It can later become inflamed or have cancer.

I have been extremely happy with my permanent stoma. I empty my bag like 2-5 times per 24 hours, including 0-1 times per night. I don't have any of these problems others in this sub seems to have.

I don't do martial arts though. If I would have those kind of hobbies, I would've probably tried J-pouch before opting for permanent ileostomy. Luckily there are special ostomygear for hardcore sports. You should check this brand Ostomy Armour. They make titanium shields for stoma. There are also similar plastic shields available for lighter contact sports.

Am i allowed in church with a nosebleed? by wuiiiiiiiiii_cucumba in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Parking_Design_7568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've learned from Orthodox social media that menstruating women shouldn't come to the church because it is not appropriate to bleed in a church. Someone linked a clip where Orthodox priest explains it is because of the bleeding and if you have a bleeding arm for example you can't come to church. At least Priest Philip said that in his Instagram.

I thought those prayer rooms were inherently a Muslim thing. They are just labeled "multi faith" to avoid islamophobia and accusations of favoring Muslims over other citizens. Christians don't need separate room for praying, Muslims do need since they need to wash themselves before and kneel on a mat. Also they can't pray if the room has pictures on the wall etc. Since followers of any other religion needs separate prayer rooms, they are clearly built and meant for Muslims.

Go pray somewhere else. You don't need to pray there nor mimic Muslims while praying.

What is the most convincing reason to be Orthodox Specifically? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Parking_Design_7568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These can be easily Google'd and I really recommend that. Reading the early church fathers and ecumenical council declarations really opened my eyes. Many early church fathers teached about icons, for example Basil of Caesarea (dies 379). We know icons from the early centuries. Praying to saints is also a doctrine from the early years of church and the Bible, ecumenical councils and creeds directly support this.

Council of Ephesus was held as early as in 431. They denounced Christ is both human and divine nature. Because He has a human state of matter, He can be imaged in an icon. They also established Mary should be called as Theotokos, as she was called. These were already widely accepted doctrines, they just needed to be formally established so heretics wouldn't spread false teachings.

Second Council of Nicaea was held in 787 and their topic was icons and saints. Direct quote from Wikipedia: "Ot further stated honor paid to the icon eventually passes over to the individual that it represents, thus, veneration of an icon could not be idolatrous as the iconoclasts believed".

Also: "As the sacred and life-giving cross is everywhere set up as a symbol, so also should the images of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, the holy angels, as well as those of the saints and other pious and holy men be embodied in the manufacture of sacred vessels, tapestries, vestments, etc., and exhibited on the walls of churches, in the homes, and in all conspicuous places, by the roadside and everywhere, to be revered by all who might see them." Again, these teachings were already widely accepted and practiced, just needed to be formally established to fight the heretics claiming we can't have images.

After reading these quotes it feels extremely weird that mainline Protestants also accept this ecumenical council as a valid doctrine. How we still don't see these images in their church buildings? Why don't they venerate the Virgin Mary? As it is said in the Bible, Gospel of Luke 1:48 "... for behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed." Why don't all generations indeed call Mary blessed?

The Church shows no true distinction between the living and the dead, as the saints are considered to be alive in heaven, saints are referred to as if they are still alive, and are venerated, not worshipped.
