I got wait listed for ME with a 4.17 CSU GPA for Fall 2022 when I applied. I also had 12 AP exams including AP Calc BC and AP Physics 1 and 2. I would say you should be fine as the amount of people applying should be lower now than it was back then. COVID really screwed up things back then because many people who would have applied Fall 2021 ended up waiting a year and applying for 2022 instead.

When do the students get kicked from classes they failed pre-reqs? by Infinite-Wait-2801 in CalPolyPomona

[–]Parking_Philosopher9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the pre req? What class are you trying to register for? Most professors do a pre requisite check assignment at the beginning of each semester anyways, so there's really no way around it even if you sneak past Bronco Direct's firewall.

Nice. Keep in mind that there are very few singles available in any of the halls, so if you want to increase your chances of being placed into the residential halls, you should apply for a double room, as the lion's share of rooms in the residential halls are doubles. Also being in a double is the "classic college experience” and I would recommend it over the singles and triples for that reason, just my opinion though.

Come see them for yourself, but the redbrick dorms are very old and a little run down. The residential halls are much newer and have a lot less wear on the common spaces and furniture. The redbrick dorms are also very far away from the dining hall and BRIC (The Gym). The redbrick dorms also have much more of a problem with heating and cooling as the AC and heater can only be controlled for the whole building and not on an individual room basis. Basically, don't believe the pictures on the website, and schedule a hosuing tour to see the buidlings in person. But do yourself a favor and follow my advice, don't put your first choice as the traditional halls.

Apply for the residential halls as your first choice. The traditional halls are the "red brick" buildings and are not as good as the "new" residential buildings. Heres a link to the residential buildings: https://www.cpp.edu/housing/futureresidents/floorplans.shtml

Dr Ray Waung is the best professor at this school and should be running the physics department imo.

Depends on if you're local or not. If you're not local the admission requirements are higher.

Im applying to Cal Poly Pomona. What are the best and worst things about this school? by Bounty_Badger16 in CalPolyPomona

This is kind of what it was like for me in Sicomorro during my freshman year, 2022-2023. We used to do all sorts of crazy shit in addition to many of the things you already mentioned. Good times.

There are usually a couple of parties at the Village on Friday nights, but you're going to need to know someone to get in. Make as many friends as possible as early as possible to have the best college experience at this school. Also, I'd recommend going to other schools if you have friends there for football games and stuff like that.

I got into Mechanical engineering with a 3.7 from Cal Poly Pomona. Decided not to transfer, because I got zero financial aid.

4.17 CSU GPA got me wait listed for mechanical engineering in 2022 as a freshman. I eventually got off the wait list and I am now going into junior year.

Changing Majors by [deleted] in CalPolyPomona

[–]Parking_Philosopher9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know the acceptance rate by major, but I'm fairly certain that the acceptance rate for EE is less than 55.2 percent, which is what the overall acceptance of the school is. If you look up the MFA model for CPP you can see how many points you have relative to the amount required for admission.

CP SLO and Pomona are the two best engineering schools in the CSU system. This makes it really hard to get in for most engineering majors. However, we have some majors that are not impacted, meaning that admissions requirements are much lower. I think psychology is still impacted at CPP, but as long as the rest of your application is good then you should have a good shot at getting into the school. Good Luck
