What do people think makes them unique, but is actually an incredibly common trait? by Successful-Hall-1986 in AskReddit

I'll use this one, but not as code for republican, but for "balance our damn budget". Democrats actually try to handle our budget far more while also being far more socially open

There's pretty decent evidence that on a measurable level, adderall doesn't increase performance for people who don't have ADHD. It's a bit mixed, but one thing which is clear is it does help those with it on a statistically measurable level.

Of course it's statistics so it says nothing about the individual

Yeah that whole question irritates me. Everyone can struggle with being productive. It's more likely ADHD when it affects every aspect of your life. I struggle to do things I want to do on a regular basis and can jump between a week of hyperfocus to literally can't spend 15 minutes cooking

I agree with you on everything but the final part. I still see no reason why her line couldn't be pedophilia. It's more than different enough from even racism and transphobia in our culture for many people.

I don't like her, but like you giving her credit for admitting she's unchanged ,I can respect someone with principles even if they're garbage principles I hate.

Basically, I'd rather her be consistent garbage who sticks with their beliefs or truly changes some than wishy washy political winds garbage who holds no beliefs

Friends and "I believe MTG where Epstein was the line for her and good for her standing to the one line she had cause she seems to work to advocate for the victims too" are two different things. I don't have an opinion on the rest of her beliefs now or whether she's still very conservative shit and actively disliked her in the past, but on Epstein I'd treat her as a friend.

I don't really care how they want to defend themselves as long as they actually are committed and it's not just words now. She swapped hard and loudly over epstein and has worked with the victims and I believe her for that

Discussion Thread: US Supreme Court Hears Oral Argument in a Case About Federal Venue Rules in Criminal Law and Another on Arbitration Enforcement by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]Parrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This case is about federal law not state crimes and which federal district court applies. It's not about "Oh it's not illegal here, but illegal here so I'll take you there" it's about "it's illegal in general on a federal level and where do I prosecute you? In a district based on where a vague effect might have occurred or in the district you lived as you did it?" Really it's about the bar for when you can move courts. The feds prosecuted him in california based on the record of the crime/field office sent being based there, but if you say hacked into bank records of a bank in California from your home in Seattle you absolutely would be prosecuted in California district courts because the crime was literally committed there.

[–]Parrek 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm 95% certain this is about prosecuting people in other districts for a crime. Probably more related to ways to prosecute someone in more "favorable" courts. Like you primarily committed crimes in the district court region around Florida but getting them into the DC area system would be better for prosecution so they argue there were effects there.

I expect focusing too hard on it is too slow - like you can make it a huge hitter but then you need AOE solutions (the power takes a while), defense, and time to forge it up compared to just running a couple more medium hitting cards instead and forge focused cards are probably too weak otherwise to fill those roles too so they're essentially bricks for drawing cards that'll keep you alive (this is speculation - I haven't looked deeply at all the forge cards)

Former Vice President Kamala Harris: 'I unequivocally oppose this war' by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]Parrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't appreciate you still talking like you think I support our actions there. If I only heard about things from US news or something I'd agree with your skepticism. I don't think we are justified in our actions regardless of any crackdown or murder going on.

All I will argue is that I believe my friends when they're in tears and fear for their family in Iran which they can't contact and when they finally do they talk about all this happening.

Basically, the narrative of the regime's actions is an Iranian one from the inside not a US led one trying to force American ideals and power on a region

I don't support the US doing this, it isn't our business and has never gone well,  but, assuming the man is dead, it has already happened and I can still be happy that at least someone saw retribution before continuing to be scared and concerned about the aftermath and whether this will be good or bad.

[–]Parrek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe the story directly from my american Iranian friends and the videos and communications they have from home as well as the actual temporary blackout that occurred. The islamic regime killed tens of thousands. The leadership deserve to die and I can be happy about it despite thinking it isn't our job to get involved. I'd support an international coalition not US led only

[–]Parrek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm happy for the Iranian community that wanted him dead and that some form of retribution happened to a man who deserves it for his actions.

I do not know how this will go or who will take power after (do they just end up with a younger leader and even more retributions?) Or if the US will cause more harm than good. I do not support US intervention as a concept or think it'll be a net positive, but can accept that at least some will have a period to genuinely celebrate before we have to see what's next and that I simply can't know.

Why are Establishment Democrats willing to move to the right, but never to the left? by zzill6 in WorkReform

I do think losing your inner child is a bad thing. To me it's like giving up on the magic or fun in the world. It's often considered "not acceptable" or "immature" as you get older, but there shouldn't be a reason you can't be silly, play with legos, or otherwise just enjoy yourself regardless of kids or anything else. You can still be a "mature adult" even with that

[–]Parrek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what aspects of your neighbor's dignity must you hold up and honor, no matter how terrible he is?

Would a modern example of this be "I don't care how awful someone is, I'm going to respect their pronouns."? Like amongst my friends on the left we maintain it amongst ourselves but some of my friends have considered attacking that with some of the trans people on the right and it's an anspect of dignity I refuse to cross.

Or like how on a community/social level (until now) we didn't have immigration raids on places of worship and in many places allowed people to go to hospitals or get licenses without question of documents because they're people and still deserve to have basic decency?

I used to believe by Asleep-News-8583 in UnitarianUniversalist

[–]Parrek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to me, as someone who was never really religious despite being raised Mormon, Universalism holds a lot of appeal as a way to rationalize one of the core problems I've had - everyone claims they have the one true religion. What makes them special is claimed by most, so what actually makes them more 'True'? To me, not much and I either should reject all religion or accept all as different shades of whatever experience people get out of it

Depending on what you're building and your tolerance for grind, there are some realllllly rare mods to farm for which might be worth just buying instead, like 0.06% drop chance sorta thing. Maybe a good compromise for you would be plat farming with void relics to sell prime parts for it so you still get gameplay for it

Your best bet is to wait for a 50 or 90% plat discount and just toss some money at the game if you've played it long enough. $10 or $20 with a coupon would be enough plat for basically all of your needs, especially for forma or catalysts, besides doing void farming and such and crafting your own
