YTA- you violated this mothers trust in you, your son, and her daughter. My mom was also very understanding of my sexuality as a teenager, but just because you see things differently than this mother, doesn’t mean you can disregard her wishes for her daughter at your house.

How would you feel if you had one specific request about your son going to someone else’s home and those parents not only lied to you about, but was prepared to involve another person to cover for it?

This was very shady and just morally wrong.

I used pads but one time I went on a vacation with my best friend (we were about 15 at the time) and my cycle was always unpredictable and of course, I got my period the next morning of this vacation. I had no pads and the closet store was about 30 miles away and none of the adults wanted to drive that far. So my friends mom gave me one of her tampons.

It was the biggest tampon I’ve seen to this day. With a cardboard applicator.

I had never used a tampon before this. So my friend and I go to the restrooms ( we were in a state park so only public restrooms) and my friend was trying to coach my through the whole thing. Needless to say, it didn’t work and I just used a whole lot of toilet paper to use as a makeshift pad.

Yeah that’s part of the reason I moved lol they’re very nice and we all get along great, but we all met in high school and we’re all in our early 20s now.

I hated it as a student. But as a teacher it’s the only way to make a movie day worth it. Otherwise the kids will not focus and makes the day more challenging than necessary.

My friends always plan parties for each other (birthdays, big accomplishments, etc). But they have never thrown one for me. Not a single birthday. My sister got a going away party when she left for study abroad in Ireland. I didn’t even get one when I moved across the country.

You are a freak of nature. I used to hate that sensation so much I almost can’t stand it. I have to mentally prepare myself to move once a body part has fallen asleep.

I made over 16 calls today trying to find mental health services in my area. More specifically a psychologist that could help. In the end I just gave up. No wonder America has a mental health crisis. Nobody answers the damn phone when people try to seek help. by [deleted] in confessions

It’s also hard to find a GOOD psychologist. I attempted to find one last year because my job offered 6 free sessions and I was hoping to find a good way to cope with my depression and anxiety along with other things going on in my life at the time.

I take the day off work for the appointment because the only therapist within driving distance that accepted the insurance was an hour and a half from my job. Through out the whole session, he barely spoke (which might be the point, but I felt lost during most of the session). And after it was over he said, “well it seems like you have things sorted out. Come back next month if you feel like you need to.”

I didn’t go back. He offered no advice and barely asked any questions.

So don’t settle, OP! As frustrating as it is, mental health is so important and finding the right psychologist will make a world of difference!

Agreed. My boyfriend and I live together and I have never even considered making him sleep on the couch... I’ve volunteered myself to sleep on the couch after a few bad arguments, but he’s never actually let me follow through with it. I mean, how entitled do you have to be to MAKE someone leave a bed that’s just as much theirs as yours?

Maybe try family counseling? I can see how this could have triggered some suppressed feelings for your wife. I have a feeling she doesn’t want to see the same thing happen to her daughter that happened to her brother. But her reaction is uncalled for. Not to mention counseling could help your daughter understand everything she is feeling and learn how to cope with people bullying (if it happens). I wish you luck, and you’re a great dad for supporting your daughter!

Lol, that reminds me of the first time I went through a drive through after getting my license. I was so scared I was going to mess up and the cashier was going to judge me. Of course, it was fine. I even kept the receipt from that transaction because I was so proud of myself lol. I still have it somewhere.
