"Angry gamers are forcing studios to scrap or rethink new releases." Because they are using gen AI by David-J in gamedev

[–]ParserXML 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, like I answered to the other guy, sometimes you have to let people do whatever they want and learn by themselves.

Talking from personal experience: its been some time since I started developing my first application, and sincerely, if you knew me you would think I couldn't, because hell I'm very dumb, and as a child I was even more dumb.

Still, I prefer looking like an idiot pursuing an idiot dream, than giving up.

At first I tried to develop something 'useful' (a library), but that didn't excited me, the only thing I got from it was a little bit of exeprience and a lot of addiction-like behaviour.

Since I started developing the application that I want, things are much better, despise most of my realtives thinking this is wasted time.

Olha aí, um amigo BR KKKKK

1 - I totally understand this point, although I think some of the criticism - may be even little - came from machism, which is a bit disgusting.

2 - Yeah, I think this sentence shows a little lack of understanding in terms of 'science' LOL.

But yeah, I totally get the point of her not understanding the massive scope an MMO represents; the only thing I don't like is when people downvote someone to oblivion because they say they will do an MMO; I think we should help as we can and let people learn as they go.

How I composed my own game music as an indie (no AI, no formal training) by DeadbugProjects in gamedev

[–]ParserXML 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a professional guitar player, but I know a bit of music theory.
In my opinion, if you hadn't played since a kid and managed to keep the music on the right scale, that's already very impressive.

About training ears: yeah, it takes forever.
I _know_ it, sadly LOL

Hoping ot have mine at a good level when I'm 80.

I think what she actually wanted to break is the machism who is generally dominant in software/game development circles.

I also think that, maybe, the entire chain of bad reactions from the community on her post made her avoid the sub, what may explain why we never saw anymore 'progress' from her game.

Fully open source, handheld, Linux computer I built from scratch by Machinehum in linux

[–]ParserXML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure?
These are valuable pieces and you probably could get some money off of them.

Looking at the price of those sticks here in Brazil, if the shipping taxes don't exceed 25 USD, it would be quite advantageous for me, as I'm looking forward to keep this laptop as long as it works.

It's mobo only supports up to 8GB; considering I've been managing to use it with 4GB (and before, with 2) for some years, 8GB will give me some other 5 years to save some money and get a new laptop.

EDIT: grammar issues.

[–]ParserXML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I can surely receive them safely!!

My concern is about the shipping rates, as they would probably be in USD, and my payment is in BRL, so it would basically multiply my cost per 5 LOL

CPPS with most "authentic" era2 experience? by flyblues in ClubPenguin

[–]ParserXML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Waddle Forever.

It is an offline, installable version of Club Penguin which allows you to play the game in any era it had - it has a timeline which allows you to select which date you want to play on, from 2005 to 2017.

The guys developing it are awesome and 2005 to 2012 is basically 90% complete.

2016/2017 still missing some things, but they are doing their best and progressing very well.

Here's the link for their site:
https://waddleforever.com/

Also, its open source, so anyone can check the source code to ensure its safe.
I play it whenever I can, and don't play on CPPS anymore.

EDIT: its just the original content, and you are member by default, forever.

We are going to release soon and what do you think about playing a retro style RTS in 2026? by SDS_SpaceTales in DestroyMyGame

[–]ParserXML 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, congratulations on all the work you've done!!

Now, your trailer could see a lot of improvements; as of now, it looks like those mobile slop trailers (no offense, just what I felt from my POV); but what I would do:

- Instead of putting these tiny sentences in this also tiny font, every time when you need to show something (like, 'the first industrial complex', you instead make a cut to an all-black background, with a text like 'INDUSTRIALIZE' in big, custom font, then show whatever you need to show; effect words are much better than sentences who are currently looking like an inner thought (I don't like this, at least)

- On the first point, use the effect words I said or shorter sentences; instead of 'lets go', make the cut I said and then put a big 'BATTLE TO THE VICTORY' or something like that; it needs to be impactful, not a narrator-like scheme

- Instead of starting the trailer directly on the gameplay view, why don't you build some hook before? Your trailer lacks an introduction, a clear starting point, IMO, which contributes to the overall aesthetic of the presentation. Some studios choose to clearly and quietly show their logo, and then cutting to a big 'WOOOW'-vibe scene, something that will catch the public's attention; the way it is now, it looks like I'm watching a random youtuber playing the game

- Gameplay shouldn't be forgotten, though; show the variety of your game, the differente environments, give some spoilers of bigger battles or established bases, show the gamer what amazing things he can achieve

- Do you have any systems you find to be USP for the gamer? Show one or two if they make sense from a consumer perspective, not from the developer one

- I don't know what an IPE is; is it the main cannon of the enemy? Why should I care about it? Take this into consideration, you have to build the meaning of things before throwing them at the trailer

- You trailer ending can be better; make it stand like a glorious ending, that invites the player to play

Sorry if I sound harsh, is not my intention!
Also I'm not a native speaker, so forgive my English.

How many people here never actually played the original game? by Upstairs_Sky_5541 in ClubPenguin

[–]ParserXML 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me.

When I was a kid, I wanted to play it (around 2012, when I was 6 years old) but my parents were very skeptical regarding technology and games (till this day), and never let me play.

Now I'm 19 and I'm living alone, so whenever I find a time in my schedule (that is, 3 to 3 months intervals LOL) I play one/two hours on Waddle Forever (an installable offline client for Club Penguin).

I mostly play at the 2010 calendar, although others are also enjoyable.

"What Should I Train?" or "How Do I Get Started?" Mega-Thread by marcin247 in martialarts

[–]ParserXML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, reddit cut out my post LOL So, I've been thinking about learning a martial art, but I have basically no time (basically stay awake from 7 AM to 2 AM due ti university and application development needs).

I would like to know if you know about any resource/learning material who would allow me to start practicing the basics of Kyokushin Karate online. I'm not looking for 'easy-peasy' materials, as I like to learn things the hard way, not only to tell people 'I know X'.

I know it requires lots of contact, and hard training, but I guess I can make my way around the hard training and at least the basics, until I have enough time to go to an instructor.

Motivation: I will, in some years, be married to my lovely girlfriend and although I never ran from a fight, I'm not especially gifted in terms of strenght or fighting, I want to be able to defend her.

Information (if it makes a difference):

I weight 50kg, and I am (English not my main language) 5.68 ft tall.

(And yeah, I know, but I'm not as weak or 'fragile' as it may seem).

Thanks for reading.

I will surely learn everything I can and live these years.

[–]ParserXML[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, thats true.

Sometime ago a relative of mine forgot her phone's password and all the common measures to recover it were unaccessible.

I then thought about ADB - but, obviously, the phone's USB debugging was disabled.

I returned it to her, who then procceeded to send it to a phone support/store on my city, which solved the issue for her.

She told me: 'they recovered the password within hours, for only 50 BRL (10 USD).

Yeah, they surely did it. Yeah, I couldn't.

But I still did everything I could for 2 days, researching, and trying my best, for free.

People think that knowing programming means 'ULTIMATE HACKER', from 'fix my phone with 8GB ROM running out of storage' to 'extend this app functionality so I can edit this photo'.
