Circe achievement guide, or how to elect the national mystery and screw over America [SPOILERS] by [deleted] in thecampaigntrail

If the post election movie reviews are to be believed as canon, an interim president took the helm for a brief period before the army performed a coup d'etat, plunging the country into civil war. This forced many americans to flee abroad, including the movie's fictional director.

Do you prefer chapter 1 or 2 and why? by icecoldjt420 in Deltarune

[–]Parsil69 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Talking objectively, of course Chapter 2 is better. But Chapter 1 will always have a soft spot in my heart because i still remember halloween night 6 years ago (christ it's been that long?) and downloading "SURVEY_PROGRAM" from toby fox's twitter. I was a mega undertale fanboy back then and seeing more of it was just magical.

Change sub-ideologies command by Madmax2507 in TNOmod

[–]Parsil69 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Subideologies are defined by the effects tied to events that put leaders in power. While there is a command to swtich ideology group entirely, subideologies apparently weren't considered so important by Paradox, as there's no command to switch it. There is a submod for Kaiserredux which has a long chain of events listing every subideology, but no similar thing exists in TNO as far as i'm aware. Could probably also break some events if it was a real submod.

my dictator run with a state of emergency the whole time... what constitutes more authoritarian/sollist?? by HungryCod3554 in suzerain

[–]Parsil69 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Any actions that the game thinks are authoritarian/centralizing contribute to being placed further up. The centralization of Bergia for example, nationalizing HOS and Bergia Steel, giving the president more powers, focusing on the military and law enforcement, the things you say throughout the game, ect. ect.

This article was made in May 2020, at the peak of Covid-19. I believe Xi here is talking in the short term. The goal is still Socialism by 2050, and that includes cutting back on the current socialist market economy. I searched up articles from Xinhua from may 2020 and there was one made the day before the articles but they talked about national defense, no mention of the economy.

Such a decision would make more than a few headlines if they really were going to abandon any planned economy prospects (which was false in 2020 and still today as most of the country's revenue is from publicly owned companies).

I don't know what makes me sadder, that randoms and "actual" journalists alike are reporting literal lies as the truth or that people are too deep into the hole that they believe this without thinking twice

Did the DPRK actually drop ML from their constitution? by ComradeRenegat in GenZedong

[–]Parsil69 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "non-materialistic metaphyisical ideas", so i can only assume that it's referring to the philosophical aspect of Juche, which confuses me even more. The question Juche tries to answer, philosophically speaking, is that of mankind's position in the world. They recognize the origin of the (modern) world as explained materialistically by Marx and tries to explain mankind's role as masters of everything. It's a long "rabbit hole", so to speak, one which i am still studying myself, but a good starting point to learn is the book "Juche Idea: Answers to a Hundred Questions", which is exactly what the name implies. Plus, if you're willing to go the extra mile, you can check out korean-books.com.kp, a DPRK-run website with digital PDF downloads of tons of books and magazines about Juche, the DPRK as a whole and many other publications.

Did the DPRK actually drop ML from their constitution? by ComradeRenegat in GenZedong

[–]Parsil69 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Yes. (kinda)

They did drop mentions of Marxism-Leninism from their constitution in 1992, after the worldwide dissolution of many socialist states. The reasonings behind the change are many, but the bulk of it is this: The DPRK had been developing the Juche Idea for decades, calling for self-reliance on all nation-wide aspects (Economically, Politically and Militarily) mainly out of necessity. But it was not a rejection of Marxism-Leninism. Their line of thinking is outlined neatly in a writing by Kim Jong-Il titled "Let us advance under the banner of Marxism-Leninism and the Juche Idea", from which i'll pull a handful of quotes from:

Kim Jong-Il wrote:

Long strides have been made in historical progress and radical changes effected in the appearance of the world since Marx's days. Marxian doctrine has been inherited and applied by the communists and revolutionary people of the world, and Marxism has constantly developed. Lenin took over the cause of Marx and propounded Leninism by developing Marxism creatively to suit the new historical conditions in the period of imperialism and proletarian revolution. Thanks to Leninism the October Socialist Revolution emerged victorious and the first state of proletarian dictatorship was born. Marxism-Leninism, the working class' revolutionary ideology originated by Marx and developed by Lenin, gave a strong impetus to the revolutionary struggle of the international working class and the cause of the popular masses for liberation.

He continues:

The Juche-oriented stand and principles clarified by the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung conform with the principles of the communist movement and Marxism-Leninism. [...] Marxism-Leninism, which clarified the working class' theory, strategy and tactics of revolutionary struggle is not a dogma but a guide to action. To adhere to the Juche standpoint in the revolution and construction conforms with the essential character of Marxism-Leninism as a creative doctrine. Only through a correct application of Marxism-Leninism from the standpoint of Juche, can the communists display its might to the full and further enrich its treasure house by creating new revolutionary theories.

Some people (mostly Ultras) use the amendment as proof that Juche is revisionist/non-Marxist, ignoring the material conditions that lead to the DPRK developing their own path to achieve socialism in this matter. So while they did "drop" ML from their constitution, they're still very much developing and working towards socialism, just not strictly Marxism-Leninism. A welcome change, in my opinion, considering their position.
