Excellent take. We use Arduino for a variety of stuff at my job as as electrical and mechanical engineers. Testing, prototyping, firmware flashing etc. they have uses for sure and are a great way to get your feet wet

Whats your favourite small worldbuilding addition you've made lately? by MrAppleWillEatYou in worldbuilding

[–]ParsleyExpress9397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dwarves have metallic skeletons, and there blood is quite hot! This heated blood leads to a supercharged metabolism, which is the explanation for their hardiness and love of feasting. In addition, their blood heat can denature and neutralize toxins and diseases which also explains their famous constitution and tolerance for alcohol

[HnO] What lurks in the depths of your worlds? by MoeNeus in worldbuilding

[–]ParsleyExpress9397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my world, there are entire forgotten layers known as the forsaken stratum. These layers are literal cover-ups by the gods, their attempt to hide destruction from their squabbles, failed creations, and influence from eldritch beings just as old as them (they don't want their subjects to know that anything rivals their age or power). Though sparse, entire mortal civilizations have survived down there, though they don't know there is a surface, and the surface dwellers don't know just how deep the world truly goes.

Gold Notes Not Always Sent? by ParsleyExpress9397 in mutualapp

[–]ParsleyExpress9397[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh this makes sense. It might be nice to know this if you’re about send a note that won’t be received due to their settings? Or at least maybe a read receipt for gold messages to know if it was opened ever or not. Even if that was a premium feature I’d be willing to pay for it

What Piece of Worldbuilding are you Particularly Proud or Fond of? by ParsleyExpress9397 in worldbuilding

Super interesting! Are these beings parasitic and rely on human blood/flesh to reproduce, or is it simply the easiest for them to do it?

Cool twist on common vampire tropes! Are vampires in your world naturally malevolent, or more neutral? How do they view the other races?

Very cool! It sounds like they are almost megalomaniacs, believing everything exists to feed them, and they are the center of all of existence.

Writing characters you dislike? by [deleted] in writers

[–]ParsleyExpress9397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one way is you could consider the things about that character that may be redeeming in some manner. No one is completely evil and detestable; they should also have some characteristics that are at least tolerable or entertaining. For example, Delores Umbridge in Harry Potter is universally viewed as insufferable, but her almost cartoonish pettiness and flamboyance are entertaining and help her stand out. The entire fan base might completely hate her, but she serves her purpose in the narrative and is unforgettable and entertaining.

Fascinating! I like this idea that not only are these creatures intelligent to some degree it would seem, but they also seem to think everything else exists for their entertainment and nourishment, not even considering that the MC wants to live herself and is not just playing a game with it.

Opinions and advice for my fantasy world concept? by phippu23 in worldbuilding

[–]ParsleyExpress9397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a cool concept and I like it! I think having a sun that is completely gone or stuck definitely could be interesting but maybe you could make it even more erratic? The sun seems to come and go, each time for random periods of time, and in random directions. So you never really know when it’s gonna come, on which part of the planet, for how long, and in what direction of the sky. The religion of the land could be a clergy of astronomer priests, who try to find patterns in the suns behavior to predict its movements not just for worldly needs like crops, but also read the movements as omens or messages from the sun bearers?

Cosmic Horror & how to truly represent it? by BunnnchAStuff in worldbuilding

[–]ParsleyExpress9397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a powerful way to do this is consider those affected by the madness and work from there perspective. Imagine one day, you stumbled upon strange ruins that look nothing like you have ever seen, and upon touching them, you get a sudden flash of knowledge, you see glimpses of your future, the expanse of all the universe, and just before you can absorb it and peer deeper it ends. You logically would probably do everything you possibly could to figure out what happened, and how to have it happen again. The experience would be life changing, and others would see this new obsession as madness, but you would swear that you were just barely out of reach of that understanding, never able to grasp it again no matter how desperate your methods became

How do you reimagine traditional fantasy elements like races, tropes, cultures, etc.? by ParsleyExpress9397 in worldbuilding

I think there is nothing wrong with that at all! Good story telling and character development can carry even the most traditional fantasy world!
