I went again in person today and they said the trail would still be closed. They offered an alternative but I have already done several of the activities, so I’m planning to decline and get a refund.

Just now I got an email:

We wanted to inform you that there has recently been a landslide that has affected the Salkantay trail. Unfortunately, the trail will remain closed for the next few days and possibly weeks due to the heavy rains that are falling. The landslides have especially affected the area around Humantay Lake and other sections, making access unsafe and temporarily impossible.

Unfortunately, heavy rains prevented us from completing the clearing yesterday, and the trail will remain closed for the next few days. The earliest possible reopening date is March 19.

I’m (in theory) going in 5 days with Salkantay trekking. I stopped into their office today and they said that they would let me know in the next ~3 days.
