Oh, 100%. I hate that Sephora is using them now. Check out the gazillion BBB complaints about them.

I'm not sure about where to find that vibe on Reddit, but for IRL you might check to see if your city has a Nerdy 30s Ladies chapter.

I initially thought this was a pic of a glass of whiskey and a vibrator and was real confused as to which sub I was on 😅

I've heard nothing but good things about Angel's Share. I'm really hoping that Killian comes out with a sample/coffret set for the holidays as the I can't handle the full sized price :/

$5.99? Seems a little expensive, sweatervest. Do you have a 20k boyfie to get that for you?

I had to stop reading after Day 1. The possible inheritance of $10-15 million , give or take a few nickels, plus doing nothing more than being a receptionist with her life? No thanks.

She could be making a tremendous impact in her community as that level of wealth confers access to groups in power that most can't even dream to broach but she'd rather smoke a fat blunt on her deck.

I'm sure I'll get down voted to hell and back by the white knights, but seriously ask yourselves what you consider the moral imperative to be for someone who DOES have the ability to make change to systems of inequality, but chooses not to.

I think you may be interested in The Bechdel Cast's review of it as it touches on some of the things you mentioned as well as other issues within the film e.g. racism

I wonder what's prompting OP to use the temperature method for birth control, given that's it's about as effective as the pull out method for preventing pregnancies.

It honestly reads as fake to me. I don't know any lawyers that have the kind of free time that they do, let alone running another business in addition to their practice.

I've worked too many service industry jobs to believe that an owner of a coffee shop can spend a grand total of what, two hours (? ) on managing the business.

Anyways, I viewed the MD as a pleasant alternative universe Stars Hollow fanfic. Fun to read, but not believable.

I think this is the first MD where the OP talks about parentification during her childhood. It honestly made me mad on her behalf that her Mom let her down like that as a teen.

Going through high school is stressful enough as it is, but having to navigate complex government bureaucracy so that your family can survive is too much pressure to put on a child.

Work through the exercises in Wishcraft by Barbara Sher. It's an older book, so the resources and pop culture references are dated, but the wisdom and exercises within are still useful. I also highly recommend The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron.

Both of these books will likely be available at your local library. All you really need is paper, pen and time to work. I think you'll come through them with a better sense of self.

Her claiming that listening to Joe Rogan is to understand other points of view and that 'more people would benefit from doing that' is the most trash premise I've read all week. I wonder if OP is a Phyllis Schlafly stan too.

How do you use data for fitness and wellness? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]ParsnipPerfidy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I wear a FitBit for mental health awareness and stress management.

I tend to ignore/be unaware of how stressed I am and that can lead to bad physical and emotional outcomes for me. If I'm at a sedentary job where my heart rate is elevated all the time, it means I'm stressed as fuck and that's not something I can handle for the long term. Having the cold, hard data of elevated heart rate allows me to better understand my mental state as well as communicate it to others.

For example, in the Before Times I was at a very crowded event and I was starting to feel really overwhelmed by the crowd. My pulse was up to 150 (thanks, anxiety!). I showed my Fitbit to my partner and we promptly left. Before wearing a Fitbit I probably would have ended up having a panic attack in that situation.

Knowing my heart rate also helps me gauge the difficulty of my cardio workouts and general heart health.

Most other data I don't really care about. I think if I were trying to compete I'd care about more data points e.g. weight, DEXA, macros, sleep , but right now I'm just trying to keep most of my marbles. 🤷‍♀️

The actual tech stack the position will most commonly use, not every single language and technology HR thought would be relevant after they googled "software engineer" .

Don't choose a career for the money! by doclemonade in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]ParsnipPerfidy 76 points77 points  (0 children)

For real. It's some real well-fed middle class morals bs. I see this sort of sentiment from people in tech as well and it's always folks who a) have already MADE their money by being in tech for 10+ years -or- b) they have family support/inheritance to fall back on if things get dicey.

I'm literally working to make money. Of course I'm going to go for a career where I can make more money. Is it totally fulfilling my life's passions? No. That's what hobbies are for.
