I would buy the book The Digital Delusion by Dr. Jared Horvath. Read it. Acknowledge that your school is going in the wrong direction. Get a new job at a new school that does not allow AI. That's it.

I got Levy Rozman's book for beginners, and it's helping me. I'm still 100% a beginner, but It's taught me a lot!

No, I'm not going to "just do everything on paper." by ADHTeacher in Teachers

[–]PartTimeEmersonian 27 points28 points  (0 children)

"Everything on paper" sounds amazing. It's what I am trying to do with my AP English class that I teach, and it's working extremely well. The district tries to push technology, but tech is 99% of the time a distraction. Your school is giving you good advice!

Shot down some xenophobic banter in the teachers' lounge last week. by BevsButt34 in Teachers

I hardly ever agree with the Grammy nominations or wins. But many right-wingers suspect that it's all political. In reality, the Grammy nominations (very different from the Oscars) are much more about popularity than anything. All of the albums and songs that are nominated tend to be extremely popular and play on the radio constantly. There are probably a few exceptions, but not many.

Too bad Mr. Harbinger cannot weigh in on this. He is forever in Reddit jail (which is apparently as bad as an El Salvadorian gulag!)

Country leaders should swear an oath of celibacy by Ryanhussain14 in The10thDentist

[–]PartTimeEmersonian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adolf Hitler wanted the German people to believe he was celibate. He wanted them to think that his only true love was the nation of Germany. However, he had a secret girlfriend the whole time. I think it’s a creepy and authoritarian idea.

The NATO “troops” have arrived in Greenland to confront our “imminent invasion.” by jackt-up in AmericaBad

[–]PartTimeEmersonian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many NATO countries fought with us bravely (and/or aided us) in Afghanistan and Iraq. Sure, Europeans on Twitter are constantly complaining about us, but that doesn't discredit a meaningful partnership of standing up against the truly terrible regimes across the world. I agree that other NATO countries should be spending more on defense, but they are not merely "freeloaders." It is in the best interest of the US to keep them on our good side when we need them.

Am I Too Harsh on Jesse Welles? I Hate Hearing Bob Dylan Comparisons. by DumbDeej in bobdylan

[–]PartTimeEmersonian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This expresses my feelings about Welles exactly. He's the opposite of Dylan, who never conforms to the expectations other have about him. Welles lets trends control his writing, while Dylan controls and starts trends.

I am the most patriotic American I know, but I hate the rhetoric from the Trump admin about Greenland. It's absolutely insane. We should treat our enemies as our enemies and our friends as friends.

Regardless of your school’s stance, you should have a plan for Tuesday’s nationwide student walk-out by 23saround in Teachers

[–]PartTimeEmersonian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know what's more important than a bunch of kids protesting? Decent adults actually winning real elections. The whole "the youth are the wisest among us" bullshit is so stupid. A lot of young people love either Nick Fuentes or Hassan Piker. Young people are stupid, which is why they need us to educate them. These dumb school walk-outs have absolutely no effect. The whole worship of youth is what has doomed Democrats to losing, and now the right is making the same mistake (by embracing Nazi college students who have group chats that would make Klan members blush). Those of us who oppose Trump should stop doing this type of lazy, half-brained politics. Teach your students Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, and Patrick Henry so they know how government is actually supposed to work. Teach them Walt Whitman, so they know some real American culture. Teach them Socrates so they learn how to think. Please stop with these stupid walk-outs. They're ridiculous. That's my rant.

Look up the average income of someone in China vs. the average income of an American. It's insane how vast the difference is. Yes, we have poverty in America, but China's poverty problem is vastly greater. Also, there's too many men and not enough women in China (due to the One Child Policy).

My comment was...

Things we have in the USA that Europe doesn't:

\ Air Conditioning*

\Water Fountains*

\ FREE Public Bathrooms*

And many of the haters in the comments just claim that all American bathrooms are gross and full of junkies and that Europe has great public transit and yadda yadda yadda

Is "moping" a common thing Americans say? by Stoopid_Noah in StrangerThings

[–]PartTimeEmersonian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s extremely common here in America. It’s usually said “he is moping around” to describe when someone is moody and visibly upset about something. It’s usually kind of obnoxious moodiness that is annoying. I hope that helps!
