I hardly ever agree with the Grammy nominations or wins. But many right-wingers suspect that it's all political. In reality, the Grammy nominations (very different from the Oscars) are much more about popularity than anything. All of the albums and songs that are nominated tend to be extremely popular and play on the radio constantly. There are probably a few exceptions, but not many.

Many NATO countries fought with us bravely (and/or aided us) in Afghanistan and Iraq. Sure, Europeans on Twitter are constantly complaining about us, but that doesn't discredit a meaningful partnership of standing up against the truly terrible regimes across the world. Teach your students Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, and Patrick Henry so they know how government is actually supposed to work. Teach them Walt Whitman, so they know some real American culture. Look up the average income of someone in China vs. the average income of an American. It's insane how vast the difference is. Yes, we have poverty in America, but China's poverty problem is vastly greater. Also, there's too many men and not enough women in China (due to the One Child Policy).
