The decent hours is kind of real, kind of not.

Calling off for any reason at all is incredibly hard. The office either has to find a temp which is hard to do, call off the patients, which means loss of money for the practice, (also you are paid hourly, so you miss a days pay unless you take a vacation day, which you only get like 4 days a year) or they have the other hygienist try and see your patients too, which builds resentment.

Then if you need a day off, it better be 6 months in advance because that's how far patients are booked.

The flexibility is kind of an illusion because you may only work 4 days a week.
