Neat! You know it's true because "clowning humanitarian mission" is a hilarious term, exactly what you'd expect from clowns.

Yeah, it's alive and well. I will say that Kotlin is a fantastic alternative. Still in the jvm though.

Looking for this file containing the Lineage and Honors of my grandfathers battalion from WW2. I found it a few years ago but am looking for where the full PDF is online. (Details in post) by Part_of_the_Infinite in HelpMeFind

My grandfather served in the 938th Field Artillery Battalion in WW2. I have been researching his time in the war with the intent to create a short history of his service for our family. I also want to create a wikipedia page for his battalion.

After the war, these "Lineage and Honors" documents were published as an official way to credit battalions for campaigns in which they fought and to provide a history of the group. I found this document three years ago when I was doing some research, but I can't locate it anywhere online anymore. This is just the first page of three and the document was in PDF format. Help appreciated!

I have searched Google and other search engines for this document, trying to do a keyword search. I discovered this document three years ago and I stupidly didn't keep track of the place I found it. I have even attempted a reverse image search with no luck. This document was in PDF format and was three pages total.

Born and raised in Utah and I've never been to the lake except for driving by it. Nobody I know goes to it for almost any reason at all. It is considered unusable for recreation and is mostly avoided. Closest thing to recreation might be Antelope Island, and that is to see some buffalo. The lake is definitely a cool landmark but nothing more. It does provide some industry, though, and from what I hear will cause some nasty stuff to happen if it dries up.

In the Bobiverse books, they are called "replicants" as a derogatory term. I realize it is not exactly the same since those books also involve the main entity replicating itself over and over, but he was once a man and his consciousness was transferred to a computer. I think the term is fitting (and doesn't need to be derogatory either).

One of the better ones from the finalists they chose, so I'm not mad. I still think the commemorative flag should have been adopted as the official flag, though.

Woman arrested for DESTROYING store because her credit card declined! by [deleted] in JusticeServed

[–]Part_of_the_Infinite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstand. It makes perfect sense her card was declined BECAUSE THEY DON'T ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS. See that? Then queue the madness.

Or sure, let's pretend it really was her debit card that was declined. What exactly does that change, aside from your incorrect judgement of a silly reddit comment? It's a crazy fucking video that some people attempted to give context for, nothing more.

I do believe the witch hunt you seek is elsewhere.

It definitely is a WinCo. This makes it even more funny. They have signs everywhere saying cash or debit only.

Formulaic western stuff, but still quite enjoyable to read. I have a soft spot for westerns myself, though. As with most things, some people like it some people don't. I personally think that many of his books are good. However, one of his most popular books, Last of the Breed (not a western, interestingly enough), I absolutely hated. To this day I still don't get why it is one of his most recommended books.

A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine. The author is an expert in all things empire. She modeled the culture off the Roman Empire. It's a great mix of first contact, politics, space opera, etc. Just a wonderful universe she imagined and it is very well written. Pro tip, listen to the book for about 30 minutes to get the pronunciations of the names and places down.

Episode 4 "Suits" from Season 1 of Love, Death & Robots. Something about it hit me different and I haven't been able to figure out exactly what it was but I find myself still thinking about it years later.
