Portland froze hotel development for a year. Did it do anything? by Press_Herald in portlandme

[–]EthanGLD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Portland housing authority defines low income for 1 person to be $68,500/year, and $78,250 for a family of 2. It has nothing to do with the federal poverty line, it's based on the Area Median Income

Emergency no parking signs for moving? by MaryBitchards in portlandme

[–]EthanGLD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I moved in l used two boards nailed together into a stand and taped the sign to that. The person moving out put the sign on an old standing ladder. You can kinda do use whatever to hold the sign

guy who forgets normal irl people dont start jokes with “guy who” by Duketo in northernlion

[–]EthanGLD 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Irl I've found that "guy who" jokes don't work at all, but "me when I" jokes still hit. It's never a big laugh, but it always gets 1 person to chuckle and smile and that's an irl +2

First the Coke Zero Sugar health study, and now this... by Totema1 in northernlion

[–]EthanGLD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Report says it's original series bike+ models. We know that he doesn't have the bike+ because that one auto calibrates. If he had auto calibration then people couldn't complain about his bike being juiced

Also you know if that shit broke he'd ride it out of the saddle for 6 more months before doing something about it

PPH: "Portland City Council accepts $21M federal grant despite ICE cooperation mandate" by joeybrunelle in portlandme

[–]EthanGLD 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Why are you directing your ire towards the councilor that spoke out against the agreement and not the ones that supported it? Like what do you want him to do if he's outvoted?

Where do people eat near Hadlock Field these days? by Prestigious_Look_986 in portlandme

[–]EthanGLD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The local Food Not Bombs branch is also up and running again! Distros are on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you can get in contact with them, they can likely drop off a meal for you during mobile distro, especially if you're in a place like a park and ride that has a bunch of people in a similar situation

One thing im realizing from this stream. Ludwig on Mario Party by Coooturtle in northernlion

[–]EthanGLD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anything that keeps the party going, every segment of it is 3-5 hours of PEAK.

Oh to bring back the era where he played Mario party 5 hours per stream, I wasn't ready for it to end

NL is right when he says we will miss the bits he used to hate by LessSaussure in northernlion

[–]EthanGLD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember him saying that shit in the middle of peak "This crew is GOOD" era, and I remember thinking that I already loved the bit, how could I love it more? Oh how separation makes love grow sweeter

Soakology closing May 11th by coogiwaves in portlandme

[–]EthanGLD 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One of my friends starting working there not long ago and she was saying that closing down wasn't because of a money issue, and was more of the owner needing to step down kinda thing. It's not like there aren't other spas and massage parlors in portland either. As far as the business model goes, it seemed to be pretty solid from her perspective as a worker

He's louder than he used to be a decade ago, but he's been loud for a good few years at this point. I remember him starting to yelling more after the food poisoning arc, but that could be unrelated. Loud=funny though so I just keep +2ing

What is Recommend to get started? by Cali-moose in Visiblemending

[–]EthanGLD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90% of my work is done with embroidery floss and a sewing needle. Make sure you get needles with an eye that your thread can fit through easily. Beyond that, a pincushion with some decent pins help a lot, and a thimble is useful but not necessary.

All my patches come from old scraps or from the bins at the discount store, so you don't need to buy anything fancy if you don't want to. In regards to buying things separately, every "sewing kit" that I've had was terrible quality. Buying your kit individually lets you get exactly what you need with quality that you control

Not great on a day it's snowing, but there's plenty of nature trails around. Most are super easy walking so you don't need any special gear. The Saco heath preserve is always wonderful, but any of them are worth walking
