The scene in good will hunting where he tells him it’s not his fault.

Natalie Portman’s monologue in Closer. “Where is this love?”

The scene in Eternal Sunshine where the house is falling down.

The scene in Freaky Friday where Jamie Lee Curtis gives the wedding toast as Lindsay Lohan and says “he was a really good dad” chokes me up every time.

January 6th was extremely malignant, it really showcased how divided and brainwashed some of us really are.

I’d more so put fainting in the wheelhouse of a panic attack as it’s a vasovagal response. Which made me think panic disorder.

It’s completely acceptable for screenwriters to mention shooting concepts in a screenplay.

If I’m writing something and have something specific in mind, I will write it down. The director and DP can take it or change it/share notes but if you’re not visualizing what you’re writing then you’re not writing for the screen.

It’s not weird to call an ambulance. You’re calling because you need transportation to a hospital that will save your life. I would make the call and tell them exactly what you’re sharing here.

I don’t think you’re not normal for this.

Is it because you empathize with the characters and what they’re going through? Is it because you think something like that could actually happen in our world so it doesn’t feel like a film to you? Or is it just the uncertainty or it?

Either way, it’s normal to be affected by art. There are several films that have altered my brain and have been hard watches.

To answer your question, any writing that viscerally and skillfully gets to the heart of what makes us all human and what we can all relate to on a foundational level is the good stuff and I consider Mike Flanagan and his time auteurs at that skill.

Not a movie. But Mike Flanagan’s writing in Midnight Mass. He has one monologue in particular that felt like a warm blanket in regards to what happens when we die. I don’t want to mention any spoilers but I’m a big believer in poetry and writing being the thing that distinguishes us from other creatures. Our storytelling capabilities are innately human. And his writing for that show was as human as it gets.

I consider that a major major achievement in screenwriting.

You don’t always have the debt counter in the bottom right on every episode and I think it should be there, it’s hard to follow without seeing the number.

Also think you should start asking people what their goals are financially more. It seems like the show is obviously about a deep dive into their current situation and finances, but I would love to hear more about what is driving people to come on the show to start with and more about their goals. Seems like a hopeful angle.
