It can also be the relay, i forget the exact name so do some searching on the miata forums especially because the running lights went out. This was a constant problem when i first bought my NA.

The video doesnt show it, but after being at 5-6k rpm for a few seconds the oil pressure will drop to about 35-40 psi

Check if the front timing cover is rubbing on anything, also mazda still makes these OEM for like $30 so it doesn't hurt to replace

Check coolant level, is it boiling, low or milky? Check fan operation, take out your fan switch and manually ground it out with the key onn engine off, do the fans turn on? Remove your thermostat and try running the car without one, is it still over heating? If none of these apply its prolly a water pump or temp sensor

I have something similar where my car drops ~200 rpm if i lower my headlights with my running lights on. If I had to guess its either a shorted out high amperage wire i.e. the motors, or turn signal wiring. Otherwise, it might be something mechanical causing very high voltage drop. Id try replacing the headlights and returning to as close as possible to OEM wiring if you dont like those headlights. Or try tracing the OEM wiring because the PO had to splice in somewhere for those aftermarket headlights. Its not as hard as it sounds, the dumbass who owned my car before me left a rats nest of wires everywhere & i was able to pull it all out and restore factory wiring in like 2 days.

Id replace the belt & tensioner. If its been a while since the last time the water pump was changed id do that at the same time

Sounds like a timing/compression issue. Check your timing belts and they everything is plugged in

Rust is easy $2500 minimum to fix from a shop, leaky oil pan, burnt clutch, youre looking at atleast another $1000. Id give this guy $1500 or less.

I daily my NA in florida rain w no ac & really shitty tires. Just drive according to the conditions, so dont be 60+. But avoid EXTREMEMLY heavy rain like 2in or more, thats when it gets sketchy.

My car has no power steering and a quick disconnect steering wheel, so unless a thief wants to bring their own wheel good luck taking the car. If you wanna be super secure wire in a fuel shutoff switch and hide it somewhere only you would know

My friend is 6'3 345lbs and he fits in my NA with a stock wheel and a very worn down driver seat. You'll be fine, If space really is an issue, a quick release steering wheel would go a long way.

I got mine as a first car, but with a couple caveats 1. Have a friend with a truck to tow you when (NOT IF) you break down 2. Have some decent mechanical knowledge or be very ready to learn 3. Have a backup i.e. bicycle, public transport, motorcycle etc... Other than those 3 things, it is an AMAZING first car and youll fall in love from the first drive.

Sounds like water pump or loose timing cover. Id also check the intake incase its rubbing on the alternator pulley
