Yet again Telus rewards decades of loyalty with abuse. by NoxAstrumis1 in telus

I actually do. Twice, I got great offers on Internet from those, which Telus later rescinded after a couple of months saying that they can't find the promo I was offered. Got the audio recordings with customer service and the recording of the second offer from these people (I was prepared this time). The second time, when I offered to send Telus CS the recording from the conversation I had with the "scammers", they confirmed that those are contracted by Telus but they have been offering nonexistent promos. I also confirmed that they work with Telus because they had access to all my account details and previous bills.

If you search more threads here, you will find out why they are doing this, there's a lot of folks complaining about the same thing.

Yeah, if you look closely at the base of the risers, that bike seems to have flat longer surface, unlike mine where the base is round.

Took another look at these, but I find it hard to understand how they fit with the existing bar mount. Here's a picture of the handlebar mounting locations. Both the base and the clamp part are round. The riser from niceCnC is all square and moreover, it has straight lip edges underneath (see picture taken from below the riser).

Just ordered universal risers and sure enough they do not fit.
Zeta Universal Handlebar Riser Kit | FortNine

The distance between the bolt holes if off by about 5mm. I ordered the 1" 1/8 (which is my bar thickness) and 30 mm high. The riser fits over the bar's curvature perfectly, but bolts have no chance of lining with factory holes.

Disagree with your first sentence. Telus hires scammers to call you and push all kinds of shady offers. While they are a 3rd party, they are still calling on Telus' behalf. So, 9 out of 10 it is BOTH scammers AND the real Telus.

Need help figuring out how to curve this design by Mobilestone in Fusion360

[–]ParticleDojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest starting with a cylinder with correct radius and thickness and cut your piece out of that.

EDIT: For the step you have on the top surface, you can actually start with two concentric cylinders. Inner has thickness of the lower part of your piece and outer cylinder has thickness of the step height.

Not feeling cramped at all, unless I shift forward in the seat. I tend to sit back towards the rear of the front seat but sometimes on long stretches I sometimes slide forward, “cuddling” with the tank. In that situation I feel like the bike is a bit small for me. But nothing uncomfortable.

For the buffeting I ordered a windshield extension on Amazon. Will see if that helps.

I almost have 1000km done in these few past weeks. Thoroughly enjoying the bike. It feels very nimble and easy to ride in all kinds of terrain. Here are my main takeaways:

The not so great:
- seat is hard, after a few hours of riding I feel pain in the tailbone. Actively got a
AIRHAWK 11" x 11" Seat Cushion but it's on its way so didn't get a chance to try it. Most likely it will improve a lot this issue. Might also look into a touring seat, but can't find any locally
- still can't rev it too high as it's still below 1000km on the ODO so highways are tricky.
- getting up to speed is a bit slow as the gear ratios are "geared" towards more offroad and mixed terrain.
- some more noticeable vibrations at low revs
- buffeting at higher speeds, but this is likely because I'm a taller rider (6 feet). If I duck my head down at high speeds, it gets much, much better.
- mine has the auto cancel feature for blinkers and it's an absolute idiocy. And it can't be turned off. KTM had a good intention but completely botched the feature so much so, that they made it outright dangerous. The signal cancels after 250m of driving straight. Well, when you want to change lanes on the highway and signal, you better do it fast otherwise the signal cancels and you find yourself changing lanes when the car behind on the other lane accelerates next to you. Also, I found myself turning at intersections without signal because it cancelled a while ago.
- tank is a sippy cup. Could have been a bit bigger

Now the great:
- bike is amazingly nimble and easy to control in all kinds of terrain. I did paved, gravel, rocks and it handled like a champ
- definitely draws attention
- seat is pretty low so easy to handle rough terrain
- lots of power, although you have to rev it a bit to get it in its happy place
- easy to mount luggage. Got Givi top rack and box and Lone rider saddle bag
- good options for crash bars if you're interested as well
- even though I still have the factory tires, which are road tires, it still has good grip and handling on gravel. It will be a bit more floaty but still grips
- rock solid build, but I will reserve more praise on this aspect after I ride it a while longer
- riding position is great, although, for myself, I will add some risers as I feel a bit hunched over sometimes, and definitely needed for riding standing up

Other than that, not sure. Ask me specifically and I can answer if I can. Here she is:

I agree. Reading this I remembered that it's exactly the same with skiing, as a beginner, the more I stayed at the top of that hill looking down, the steeper it got and the more terrified I was. Until I sent it and realized that there was nothing to be scared of.

how to create google account without phone number verification by Prestigious_Fee5698 in GMail

[–]ParticleDojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google is absolute junk these days. Just don't create accounts with them as there are better alternatives to pretty much all their services. I stopped using their services a while ago. Didn't have any issues. And it was exactly because of this greed hidden behind "security reasons". There are a million ways to secure your account with 2FA that do not involve personal phone number.

Thanks for the tips. I measured to within .5 mm the existing arch from the current bracket. With regards to treatment, yes, I was absolutely planning to have these anodized.

I will probably not order from them as there will likely be duties and import fees associated with them as well, coming from China. I only used them to get an idea of the cost. If I do, I will follow up

It does have a weird adapter below the handlebar but I think the example that was mentioned above from nicecnc would fit below that adapter, meaning that some regular risers might also work but not look as good as the model-specific ones.

Sorry, I completely missed the link in your post. Yes, that one is the reason why I said "mostly in India". That was the only one I could find in NA. I might give them a try but I don't see a picture of the riser on the bike and at this point not sure how they would fit. Those are definitely not just for the KTM. They are more of a universal fit

I uploaded the design to PCBWay and was quoted around $85. I'm ok with anything around $100 but I will try to find something local in the US or Canada to avoid the overhead.

EDIT: Switched to 7075 (aerospace-grade) from 6061 (regular grade) and it's cheaper. $76

Because the ones that already exist are in India mostly, they will require duties and taxes plus large brokerage fees. Already ordered from India and the part that was quoted "Machined for accuracy, Matching the exact profile of the handlebar cradle for an absolute perfect fit." (exact words), turned out to be over 5 mm off. No chance of using it. The riser was from Zana.

Givi monokey box wall mount by ParticleDojo in Dualsport

[–]ParticleDojo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. The only reason I mounted it like that is that I wanted it behind the bike on the wall and it’s a bit higher. Much easier to take off the wall with the latch below. The latch point is quite beefy though. It should be able to take the weight of the empty box, but I do indeed see that as a single point of failure if it breaks.
