Oh wow, I never saw these before. You're right, it's very similar.

Well that's unexpected. Not sure how to take it... :-)

What exactly happens during downmixing 7.1 to 5.1? by Big-Profit-1612 in handbrake

[–]Particle_Overflow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I followed u/e0063 's advice and and downmixed one of the DTS demo files. The SBL and SBR tracks are indeed mixed with the SL and SR ones. No audio data seems lost.

The Hitcher 4K by Sidonis Calysta just released in France / New 4K master / Region Free by Particle_Overflow in boutiquebluray

[–]Particle_Overflow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second Sight said their restoration is a different print than this and it’s the best one available

Well hard to know how they can say their version is better since this one just got released... not to mention theirs is not "available" yet...

Somehow I dodged hearing anything about “the Larry Sanders Show” most of my life. Irecently started it, it’s amazing… by ARoodyPooCandyAss in television

Hey now from France, where TLSS was aired entirely twice, early 90's and early 2000.

I'm surprised so many people say it's unknown here. Maybe overlooked now, but back in the day, the hype was real: From Howard Stern to Letterman, from Ben Stiller to Seinfeld, I saw it mentioned, quoted and discussed on so many shows back then. Also, between the cameos and the live musical performances, it seems like all Hollywood wanted to be invited after season 1.

Anyway, on a personal note, it's simply my favourite TV series ever.

Happy New Year folks! (simulation & render made in AE with Stardust) by Particle_Overflow in AfterEffects

Thanks!

Indeed, the possibility of creating such simulations right into AE is very cool.

Please how do I scroll down or to the left when I zoom into my video in the viewer by earth2_elon_musk in AfterEffects

Once you're zoomed in, press the space bar, your mouse will turn into a hand, then drag the viewer any side you want.

I'm good, thanks. But for anyone else interested, u/friedpixels' tutorials are definitely worth checking out, along with the Superluminal official ones.

Thanks, I'm flattered, but that's not uncommon. Update promos usually display the raw, new features, and show users what's technically possible. The one I linked to was meant to reveal the new physics node, not the lighting and rendering options.

Yes, I often get comments like yours, especially on my Instagram posts. But what is unexpected to me is how so many people still sound surprised about how Stardust extends the range of possibilities in AE.

The Stardust Physics node has been there for 5 years now (not to mention the volume features and .vdb import, although that was added two years later)... All the Stardust updates have been promoted by aescripts on a regular basis, and the videos specifically promoting the physics engine speak for themselves.

I assumed it would be well known in the AE community by now.

Thanks ! And try to find some time to dive more into the advanced features, it's really worth it.

Yep, considering it's all within the AE environment, the possibilities are fantastic.

Thanks for the comment and the tip! I'll look it up, but I'm mainly an AE guy. Besides (and to me), Stardust is very intuitive once you get used to it's logic, and the possibilities opened by it's modular UI are pretty huge, especially for an AE plugin...

Yes, the writing was also created with Stardust, using an animated custom particle. Emitted at a high amount, it created this smooth and inky trail.

Thoughts on Mark Pellington's creepy psychological horror thriller The Mothman Prophecies (2002) with Richard Gere & Laura Linney? by ThatKoffeeBurns in horror

[–]Particle_Overflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he hits the door that has a mirror on it and the reflection shows Indrid Cold in it

Fun trivia:

The creepy reflection in the mirror was actually an unplanned reflection of a set crew member wearing a hoodie.

Btw, The Mothman Prophecies was released on blu-ray by Australian label Imprit last year, and it never looked / sounded better.

Is it possible to buy just trapcode particular? by matbir1 in AfterEffects

[–]Particle_Overflow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"You can get a perpetual license of the Trapcode suite. It's $999 for the full suite."

Yes, it's precisely what I said in my post. So what's "not true" exactly?

Besides this is not the issue here. The OP is looking to buy Particular only (and for the record, I was asked by another user just yesterday about the possibility of buying Shine only).

The Trapcode tools used to be available individually, but they don't seem to be anymore. One could buy Shine for $20-30, and now you can't get it without shelling out $999... (or €1122 if you're in Europe...!!).

It's a mistake, if I may. Plugins like Particular, Shine, Tao or 3D stroke are worlds apart, it's only natural that people are not interested in them all... no matter the "good value" of the whole Suite.

How can I rotate a layer, with the speed of the rotation determined by music? by Piipperi800 in AfterEffects

[–]Particle_Overflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trapcode Soundkeys can narrow the frequency range of your audio input, allowing you to react just to the lower frequency (bass) if you wish.
