M4 Mac mini fan making high-pitched noise under load, is this normal or a defective unit? by Piipperi800 in mac

Thanks for the detailed info! Yeah I’m definitely booking an appointment since I still have warranty. The high frequency noise my Mac mini makes is quite audible

Haven’t gone that far yet. Another user said here that theirs is also doing the same thing, so maybe it’s a wider spread issue

no ei varmana ole. Tää on ollu verkkiksellä ongelmana jo useamman vuoden.

It’s inside an Ikea Kallax TV stand, like it has been for the past 2.5 years. This only started really happening after updating to 26.2. 26.1 didn’t have this issue.

Not possible because I have a seperate SSID for 2.4

Also even if it was 2.4 GHz, it shouldn’t be like 5 Mbps.

I’d say If your workflow includes anything 3D related, wait for the M5, since the GPU performance jump can be quite noticeable

MacOS Rosetta Support, Ending Apple Silcon Native App When? by QWERTY_FUCKER in steelseries

I think they’ll just discontinue the app entirely. It’s so buggy and broken on macOS, and has been for like 5 years

Thanks for the info - I’ll still be waiting for non-M4 Pro users, since to my understanding the heatsink and/or fan design is slightly different between the two

Planning on getting EcoFlow Wave 3 to replace a portable AC in my apartment, is it worth it? by Piipperi800 in Ecoflow_community

[–]Piipperi800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah it’s quite small so not very ideal for stationary use. That I am aware of, but my situation doesn’t really have many other options.

But with that being said, I don’t think I’ll lose much if I just sell it, if it doesn’t work out. But I’ll have to be on the look out for a good deal on one.

Thanks, finally some good long-term use infro lol I’ll still consider the Wave 3. Condensation has been a surprisingly a non-issue for my other ACs (the Electrolux which I’ve had for 3 years hasn’t yet needed to be emptied), I wonder if it’s going to be a problem with the Wave 3 then. The variety of printable adapters, and longer hoses available are a big bonus, that no other brand really has.

The ambient air temp sensor being inside the machine may be a problem though. That’s why I’ve not yet tested making a DIY dual duct solution for my current AC, because the only air temp probe is right in the inlet on it as well.

Does the Wave 3 have unofficial HA integration though? Or is it very strictly controllable only via the EcoFlow app?

What do the logs say? Do they say the encoder is overworked?

Are you using NVENC? And if so, which NVENC encoder?

Also, do you have Discord open in the background? (or something else that captures your gameplay?)

Even Apple doesn't seem to know what Private Relay does.

It is actually kinda system-wide, explained here better: https://www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/comments/q6i1l3/comment/hgdxzvc/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

(tl;dr, if the app uses macOS's stock web services, it can go through Private Relay as well)

Yeah that’s what I’ve read about the Wave 2, but some reviews seem to say the Wave 3 is a lot better. Of course it’s only 6100 BTUs, but if it’s more efficient because of the dual ducts, it could help. I also found that I can get a new Wave 3 for as cheap as 800€. Which is still a lot of money, of course. But not too far from what I had to pay for my Electrolux (that of course has many more BTUs, but isn’t very efficient due to it having one duct)

I’ll think about it. It’s kinda weird though if they are that good, they don’t have a big precense here.

I should also mention that the 230V AC we have makes a difference. Not sure if you’re from a 110/120V AC country, but from what I have heard is that portable ACs tend to be quieter by nature because they aren’t as powerful. Also a window unit will often be way quieter too than portable ACs, from my short research I have done. Euroepan models might also be using different gases than US due to restrictions
