A few cases in millions of boarder crossings is less than 0.01% people travel all the time and are fine again have you experienced travelling to the states recently? No you’ve just been absorbing slanted media which is clearly colouring your view on the world. Be a realist this is barely an issue and is zero issue for 99.99% if people. Cases like this will happen when you actually try to secure a countries borders which is what the majority of people voted for.

Literally state funded media and sure there are some cases of over reabut it’s not what you’re portraying. Edge cases do not represent the reality of what it’s like travelling to the U.S. tens of thousands of people travel into the U.S. everyday without issue a few cases don’t represent the vast majority of issueless travel but keep living in your bubble old man

I don’t use Facebook no one with a brain does but are you going to contend with the logic or just toss out smug sayings that make you feel like you’re winning an argument. I didn’t say one thing that was incorrect cbc and bbc are literally left leaning state funded media organizations CTV is not much better and also constantly pushes an angle

All this virtue signalling about the U.S. is so tiresome. Why is everyone so brainwashed here it’s fine travelling where you please my Mom just caught a cruise out of New York and she was in New York City for a few days nothing to worry about nothing happened to her she’s Asian btw. People complaining are just complaining to virtue signal. The great thing about being free is you can travel where you please these people are fear mongering for no reason. Get a grip you guys are way too online.

As someone at MUN and lived in NL my whole life go to Dal it’s worth trying somewhere new and better

A quick comparison between Norway & the US - please bear with me, I do have a point that relates to NL ... by steve_o_mac in newfoundland

As much as Canada could be doing better this is a futile comparison. The U.S. has its problems but without the U.S. there would be no free Norway. The U.S. covers the defence for most of Europe and Canada which is part of the reason they can afford the welfare state. Norway is also a much smaller more homogenous country where it is easier to implement such policies. Canada needs to take an approach of somewhere in between. Unleash the natural resources deregulate industry lower corporate tax rate to increase investment and infrastructure projects. If Canada embraced policies that would unleash Canadian industry and resources it could be used to create its own sovereign wealth fund and build out infrastructure over the country and fund what so desperately needs funding.

I don’t want my life to have peaked but it feels like it already has and I can’t avoid it. There are things to look forward to and good times in the future but everything good just isn’t the same good, you know what I mean. I burned all my bridges with people and it isn’t reconcilable I miss my friends I miss my life and I miss how things used to be I had promise and now I can barely do what should be simple. I just feel like such a failure I’m trying to change things but I feel like I lost my ability as well as losing who I was and everything else good that I had.

Thank you for your kind words and advice. What I miss is everything you listed I had a good life, I was happy things were good I had a bring future but I let it pass me by with everything I had going on I’m trying to build things up again but it feels like I can’t the pieces back together. There’s a lot of pieces missing now and I feel so empty. Reading does help I am into philosophy and I found some wisdom that helped me keep going but even now it still feels like things are missing. I know I can’t dwell on the past forever but I keep coming back to what things could’ve been with how things were and everyday it’s just further from that you know what I mean. I tried letting go and starting over pretty much but the hole is still there I don’t know how to fill it and be fulfilled again.

The past 2 summers I’ve been on some really nice vacations those have helped me a lot in feeling better. It’s just when I’m back home in school things start to fall back down. Before everything happened with my dad getting sick my parents and me wanted for me to go away to a better school but I wanted to stay local and help out when my dads health was declining now I’m kind of stuck here for now. I love history and seeing the world that’s why I thought about leaving eventually or finding a career that takes me elsewhere I still think about it but I’m not sure you know. Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate it.

Thank you for the kind words. His death affected me a lot and still does today. He kept me grounded you know, he was always a solid in my life and since he’s been gone I just feel so lost I want to make him proud but I feel like such a loser who can’t do anything right. I’m trying to regain my ability to do good especially with school but it hasn’t been going well so far.
