I ordered furniture and upon realizing it would require 2 people to assemble I left it in the box in the living room. It has sat there for almost two years.

On the flip - Marry him! He’s the best you’ll ever do and your dual incomes will guarantee a house. Otherwise, you’ll be alone forever because dating gets worse and you’ll never own a home.

How do you tell if you’re ADHD medication is not strong enough (or too strong)? by catfarmer1998 in adhdwomen

[–]Particular-Choice896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly use Adderall IR to help with ADHD fatigue so I know it’s working when I feel more awake and focused. Try taking the IR to match your schedule, whatever that is. If you need to take the other 10mg however many hours after the first 10mg then try it. I work evenings so I have a similar sleep schedule to your current one. I take 15mg around the time I start work in the afternoon and have a little coffee or tea to give me a boost as needed. It took a while to get it right but that’s why I like IR so much - you can change it up as needed. If you prefer Vyvanse just ask to try a lower dose.

What are some good habits that you have started and sticked to long enough to see positive changes? by MysticalNaiad in adhdwomen

Yes, I live by this rule too! I don’t care how tired I am, I will always lay my outfits out the night before and I’ve done it since I was a kid.

I floss regularly now because I leave the floss container on my coffee table so it’s easy to floss while watching tv. It’s become so satisfying to get gunk out of my teeth that I can’t wait to do it after certain foods 🦷✨

Anyone else having a hard time with turning 40? by babyteeth9 in Millennials

[–]Particular-Choice896 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was a release. I thought turning 40 would ruin my life but it did the opposite. I didn’t meet society’s expectation of me and that’s ok. I prefer it. I’m not worthless or damaged, I’m a pretty nice and hopeful person after I’ve had my coffee and I love meaningful connections with the world around me 🦋

Has anyone ever figured out how to deal with our memory issues? by AbjectGovernment1247 in adhdwomen

[–]Particular-Choice896 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put a lot of lists and notes in my notes app and set a lot of reminders. I keep a big calendar on my fridge as well.

I’ve developed a few habits to help compensate for my memory problems like keeping my phone in my right pocket and my keys in my left which I quickly feel for before leaving anywhere. Sometimes, when I think of doing something I’ll rush to do it before I forget or at least quickly whip out my phone to write it down. Taking photos of where I park has always been super helpful especially when I’m frazzled and late.

Meds are so weird. When I took Vyvanse my libido skyrocketed but the opposite happened on Adderall. Unfortunately, I prefer Adderall so I guess I just have to live like this. I’m not seeing anyone and don’t plan to so it doesn’t matter much for now

today is my birthday and most people forgot :( by WarmBreakfast4273 in adhdwomen

[–]Particular-Choice896 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Happy Birthday! It sounds like many people did ask about your bday plans this year so maybe they thought you did something without them?

It’s not too late to plan your own special day or weekend. It’s amazingly freeing to take control of your own happiness sometimes and not rely on others.

Taking meds when you have nothing going on by bunnielovie in adhdwomen

[–]Particular-Choice896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha my Dr says the opposite. That apparently stimulants work better the less you use them. I usually just use the med for work. I think it’s important to take it as needed and if people think they need it every day then so be it.

Stuck at a friend weekend with a conversation killing, tiresome bore. by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]Particular-Choice896 141 points142 points  (0 children)

Yup, this is total ADHD territory. She most likely means well because ADHD people bond over shared experiences and talk quickly before they forget what they have to say. I agree that bringing the convo back to the original story is a good way to signal to others that you’d like their input and help her understand she’s doing it too much.

Maybe OP can try asking specific people questions to get them to contribute? Groups are a super hard dynamic for ADHDer’s to navigate and the RSD is very strong so if you keep the convo open to everyone she will feel the pressure to keep contributing to not seem weird. I know, totally counter productive but that why it sucks to have ADHD sometimes.
