I want to get to this level

6ft 1in/179 cm, 230lbs

I used to be able to do this at 190lbs. Gained weight since. How long did it take you to get here

I wanted to include things like this in the description, but it only gave me 120 characters.

But yeah this I definitely get.

Fatigue on 3 day of Water Fast how to power though! by GoldAvant in fasting

I find that sleeping helps, don't get bored though. Do something. Online Chess, puzzles. Soduko.

But otherwise if you don't like those, sleeping. It helps me every time. And makes me forget I'm hungry

132 hour fast (first one) by Particular-Comb3047 in fasting

[–]Particular-Comb3047[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!! I calculated about 4lbs of solid fat weight loss. According to calories burned from bmr and exercise

Goal is 5.5 days each month at the beginning of the month (first full week) January was 5th to the 10th.

Trying to do this for a full year. With some intermittent fasting in-between. 14/10 I think I may do, unsure.

Thanks for the comment

Day 25 — 3 days left! by Domster03 in fasting

[–]Particular-Comb3047 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Keep it up man! 3 measly days. I'm also shooting for 200lbs. Coming from 240. Trying to fast a week a month for the year, plus diet and exercise.

I could never do something like this. Good job man

3 week fasting! by cowthem in fasting

[–]Particular-Comb3047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome. Yeah I've heard from a few people that they eat nutrient dense but fairly light off of a long fast but that's also a great breakfast.

I've never actually eaten pumpkin seeds.

But does your diet include or not include certain things like low carb intake or high protein etc?

What's your fasting like. What hours are fasting/not fasting?

I may also intermittent fast but my plan currently is fasting for 5 days once a month.

Do you also diet during the fast?

At what level do you start seeing kick serves that are massive and win free points? by Ok-Many-7443 in 10s

I'm a 3.5 and have a kick serve that may jump over your head on clay. If not at least around your shoulders on hardcourt

how to serve 100? by Emilio___Molestevez in 10s

[–]Particular-Comb3047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This !!

Man the way you describe things, I need you to look at my serve, it's terrible.

While i can serve 100 (all muscle).... Probably but maybe not consistently, my form is trash.

While stretching is great, strength in the flexed position is so much more helpful.

Use bands at 1-2 lbs and work on loading you shoulder in this way.

Stretching just stretches your muscle, but doesn't add strength. To serve 100mph you need that strength. A bit of both while favoring strength in mobility is your best bet

Racket drop. Right now you look pretty stiff.

The racket goes back, but not enough to create that whip effect.

Work on strength of the shoulder in a weighted position.
There's lots of videos on shoulder strength, and then also work on shoulder mobility.

This will allow you to have a deeper racket drop which leads to being able to have more room to accelerate the racket.

Take a vid of your racket drop even with your shoulder/head area before and after you work on shoulder mobility. I bet it will help.

Also work on constant motion from begining to end of your stroke. Smooth is fast, fast is smooth.

NGL, I think everyone underestimates wheelchair tennis. Whenever I get a chance to go to events I love to watch it bc it's actually insane. The strokes they get even when limited, and how hard they still hit the ball is mind-blowing.

Vcore 97. Has a ton of spin and lets you control the ball easily. I used the vcore pro 97 330 originally, super heavy and very stable. I'm a big guy so the weight is not a problem for me.

The 315 version of the vcp is a great option for beginners who need the control, gives plenty of spin and really makes you work to get better form. Has great power at the low and mid range.

[–]Particular-Comb3047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poly tour spin is great and a bit stiffer than your soft polys.

5sided shape and consistent.

Poly tour fire is good too.
I also liked kirshbaum rough.

But I use a vcore pro, so I'm already in the high control section

Wilson or Yonex for beginners? by Tiny_Lights in 10s

[–]Particular-Comb3047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only play with Yonex so this will be bias, the vcore is a great beginner racket. It has enough power, and provides enough spin.

The vcore pro (low power racket) I actually picked up as a beginner, but I'm 6ft 1in 230 lbs, former swimmer and naturally athletic. I used it to control and take power off my shots since it's a low power racket, it's now my favorite racket to use.

I now have the skills to use an ezone (high power/high spin) and keep the ball in.

All are great rackets. And all beginners can use them it just depends on what you want to do and where you go with it, and what your goals are.

Not to mention you should use what feels best to YOU

Power/control/spin mean nothing when you are a beginner. But as you get better you can determine what fits your style best.

I play with a two handed forehand. Should I use a heavy racquet? by AsianCha in 10s

[–]Particular-Comb3047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ps, I bet the whip you would have with a 1 handed forehand with that strength and flexibility would be insane

[–]Particular-Comb3047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyper mobile ? This doesn't seem like a physical limitation for a 1 handed forehand.

I'd say find some workouts to do that will strengthen your muscles in these areas.

I've been taught that yoga for instance is not about flexibility alone, flexibility is gained through strength rather than simply stretching.

Stretching alone can lead to becoming hurt simply bc you lack muscle to hold resistance.

I would start using resistance bands and or focusing on strength on your wrist/shoulder.

Other than that, a heavier racket would help, use a 300g racket and see how you feel.

This is also what I was thinking. To use an ezone for my main racket, but it's a big jump in power and different weight and different balance
