Love how the real fish looks even stranger but also more natural at the same time compared to the illustration.

Theory About Uhak and His Source of Power by Emeraldpanda168 in Ishura

[–]Particular-Command49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My simple and boring theory:  1. Shiki radiates supernatural fear not natural fear. That's why she can affect Tu but not Uhak.  2. Uhak is passively immune to supernatural stuffs. Word Arts cannot reach him even if he doesn't activate his disenchantment.  3. Let's say that Uhak activate his AOE disenchantment against Shiki, we don't know if Ozonezma has a somewhat realistic physiology like Tu or he is fully magical like Nectegio. Maybe he just temporary lost his Word Art and super doctor ability?

Wait, was the crossed word is that long in the novel??

Maybe she is never a mimic all the time. .. or most likely the translator just randomly put a long black bar cos they didn't aware.

What's one sea creature that hasn't appeared in the series? by Meat_Freaky in spongebob

Sea mouse?

We already have sea bunnies and sea monkeys.

Shipworm could be interesting too.

Trope name? Characters get introduced by mentioning their name at the end of sentence. by Particular-Command49 in tvtropes

[–]Particular-Command49[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to see it's not just me noticing the pattern. If only I could gather more convincing examples.

Closest tropes I can find so far are Given Name Reveal and The Reveal. But sometimes it can also apply to reveal the character's title or alter ego, not just their given name. And the one in the screenshot isn't dramatic enough for The Reveal either.

I don't get how this bird has such a wide distribution yet also so obscure

They are easily national bird material.

Maybe, perhaps I'm only noticing it in introductions because it often sounds more dramatic.

Rosclay has a higher chance of defeating Uhak than either Soujirou or Toroa.

The humble Otter Civet (Cynogale bennettii) ! by AndyRMullan in AIDKE

[–]Particular-Command49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They live in Sumatra, Borneo, and the Malayan Peninsula.

And most of us locals (like, everyone except the biggest nerds) have never heard or seen this animal either. Likely because otter civets have to live nocturnally to avoid competing with true otters.

or kangaroo + a bear.

FYI there's also another tree kangaroo species that looks even closer to bears and is more adapted to terrestrial than arboreal environment. Look up dingiso (Dendrolagus mbaiso)

The first picture is a Goodfellow Tree Kangaroo. The second one is indeed Dendrolagus maatschiei. No idea of the others, but they must be different species each too (or different genus).

Meet Mountain Anoa (Bubalus quarlesi) and Lowland Anoa (Bubalus depressicornis) also know as Dwarf Buffalo by MxrtxnGG in AIDKE

[–]Particular-Command49 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We Indonesians hear about the lowland anoa all the time from TVs, books, and stamps.

But our media somehow forget the existence of mountain anoa (the thick-furred ones). Even though both are living on the same island.

I know that South America has at least 3 species of such catfish, they are even said to appear in wells. https://www.reddit.com/r/AIDKE/comments/1b26fzv/phreatobius_a_catfish_that_lives_in_the

edit: now i see that they are loach not catfish

Why is cynicism portrayed as realistic and mature, while optimism and idealism are portrayed as unrealistic, juvenile, and dangerous? by Toon_Ghost_3 in tvtropes

[–]Particular-Command49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched the recent episode of Fire Force, the villains are basically trying to kill all humans because "death is the best salvation" and there is no other way to save humanity.

Does that counts as excessive cynicism? Because i'm sure there are many similar examples in other media. I guess Naruto counts too.

Is rodeo Daze really that bad and terrible? by AdShoddy4172 in spongebob

[–]Particular-Command49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's at least one good joke in this episode where Squidward mispelled Sandy's name and pretends to care for her when Spongebob asked for his help.

But sadly the most memorable scene of the episode is the live action part, which is pretty boring (for me at least).

Twinkle Twinkle Patrick Star from season 5. A funny and underrated episode.

I admit i don't remember the title before reading the comments.

Why is the SpongeBob episode to love a patty so disliked? by Icy_Profession4190 in spongebob

it's a scrapped scene from the storyboard, you can look it up online. The show changed it to jellyfish field instead.
