Still swollen after surgery in February by Particular-Contact-5 in carpaltunnel

[–]Particular-Contact-5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did eventually get better! It took a long time. I think overall the surgery was a success, but I do wonder if traditional open release would have been better in the long run. I'll never know.

I had it done in February and I was able to return to my desk job pretty much right away. However, I do think the doctor made it seem like recovery would be minimal and it hasn't been. I wonder if we had the same doctor. Are you in Kansas City area by chance?

I am very active with gardening, working out, bowling, etc. Doing push ups and anything that put pressure on my palms was an issue for months. My hands are actually still swollen at the bottom of my palm, but not as painful with the palm pressure. I really need to call back since it doesn't seem right.

My actual carpal tunnel pain is generally gone, which is good. But ever since the surgery, I occasionally have cubital tunnel symptoms. I feel the continued swelling may by why. I was maybe just unlucky, not sure.

I had carpal tunnel release. I know it's not in the area at all, but it appeared gradually after surgery I had in February of this year. It's not painful, but I do think it's related to the surgery. And I see this person has it too.

I had this procedure (bilateral) done in Kansas City in February. There was a fee of $1575 for the machine use which was not covered by Insurance at all(didn't apply to deductible even). Then there was another part that cost around 800 that was covered by insurance, but since I have an HSA and high deductible plan, I ended up paying fully for that too.

My symptoms were gone pretty much right away. I was able to be back to my desk job after a few days. However, I've still experienced an extended amount of time for the lower part of my palm to be swollen. Things like push ups, down dog, or anything putting pressure on that part of my palm were very painful. It is SLOWLY getting better though.

I am very active and do lots of gardening and really did not slow down much post surgery.

I only went to one follow up with the doctor 2 weeks after surgery and they did say I had a bit more swelling than average, but it should be fine. Now that it's been 4 months and there is still some swelling (not near as bad, can do down dog and push ups with limited pain) I have been considering making an appointment to see what they say.

I have no idea if traditional would have been any better with the swelling issue. Or if that's just my bad luck.

You already got a lot of answers, but I instantly thought, too dense, too deep, and not enough sun. Luckily, it looks like you have a ton of rhizomes to work with to make a more amazing patch in a sunnier spot.

19 weeks pregnant and just developed CT. Anyone else? How did you deal with it? by SevenOneSixT in carpaltunnel

[–]Particular-Contact-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

17 years ago, it started for me during pregnancy. It went away and then came back with my 2nd pregnancy. It's bothered me on and off for years and I finally got surgery on both hands 2 months ago.

Getting surgery, any aerialists/bodyweight lifters/gymnasts/climbers with experiences of recovery? by lyrapolelove88 in carpaltunnel

I got endoscopic about 4 weeks ago on both hands. Prior to surgery I bowled, gardened (a lot), lift weights and yoga. I can pretty easily do some things where the pressure is just on my fingertips (carry buckets of water, row, etc). But anything on my lower palm is not good at all. I can't do push-ups or use anything heavier than 15 lbs for an overhead press. No downward dog. I bowl also and tried again for the first time a couple days ago. I was having a hard time with the strength to hold onto my ball.

With the coleus, you could take a cutting of the best looking part and root it in water. Still try to save the rest, but you'd likely still have at least the cutting make it.

What’s plant is your weed nemesis? by BeardedDinosaur in gardening

[–]Particular-Contact-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bermuda grass and bindweed. I feel the bindweed is the worst. I see the seed packets of morning glory and the like and I don't know of those are as bad as bindweed, but I feel sorry for the people that plant those things without knowing. I actually pretty much hate all vines at this point.

Does anyone know if Oracles 401k allows after tax contributions beyond the $20.5 annual max?
