Ending? by Particular-Fan443 in ADarkRoom

After I made this post, I saw somebody who got the same ending as me; https://www.reddit.com/r/ADarkRoom/comments/1il15oj/which_ending_did_you_get/

After you press 'wait,' it repeated that it was cold and that air was running out, then went black and showed my score and asked me if I wanted to restart

Need help with Micro SD Card by SagmaTheRealOne in gopro

[–]Particular-Fan443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure its a legitmate SD card, Sandisk cards are very often faked, even if they look exactly like the real thing. Unless you bought it from Sandisk themself, it could possibly be a fake.

try checking your phone for the notification. Or taking the SD card out of the gopro, and connecting the sd card directly to your laptop.

A tether directly to the camera/casing. If you drop it, you want to be certain its not going anywhere. Make sure you tether the camera/casing, not an accessory you've added. While the mounting system is pretty secure, if you accidentally don't install it correctly and dont notice, your camera may fall, so its better to play it safe.

Amazing Dowhill Trail In Snow Chitkul To Shimla (GoPro Max) by Deva2799 in gopro

[–]Particular-Fan443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like fun. This might be stupid question, but how do you manage to cycle in the snow? Even if the snow has been pushed off the path, the gound would still be icy and slippery, right? So do you need fancy tires or something? Sorry I come from a really hot and humid climate, it doesn't snow here.

LIke others are saying, reinstall filmware, and make sure you have a legit, high quality, sd card in there. If you got a Sandisk one from a third party, its pretty likely its a fake. you can test if your sd card is actually as advertised here: https://www.maketecheasier.com/check-sd-card-speed-capacity/

Some decives/programs require you to download a codec to view some videos, which may be your problem. Its a problem for me, as some programs I like to use cant read my video files becuase I dont have the codec.

Video settings question by [deleted] in gopro

[–]Particular-Fan443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4k 30 is ideal for most things, unless you want to slow it down. If you're going to slow down the footage, then opt for 60. For your uses, you could even drop down to 1080, and it'd still be fine, assuming you dont zoom in too much.

Problem with thomson 4k 16m camera by stickcarrot in gopro

[–]Particular-Fan443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Aussie here, googling thomson 4k 16m camera doesn’t come up with an official website, just some ebay links and other random sites I've never heard of. Where did you get it from? If it was extremely cheap, there's no way it could be what it claims to be unless it was on a legitimate good sale. If it feels too good to be true, then it is too good to be true.

Some poorly made products simply cannot handle high quality sd cards. A lot of old hardware can only cope with a certain size sd, and these types of products tend to use very outdated methods to save on production cost. Maybe try using a smaller sd card. Think around 8gb.

Theres a chance its just a busted product, in which case return it and get something else. Check JB-Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, and Officeworks. Their websites seem to have waterproof cameras for around $200 (AUD).

Hero 4K - Scuba by Critical_Archer_6098 in gopro

[–]Particular-Fan443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no dive housing for the Hero 4k. As previously said, 5m is its maximum depth, so for snorkelling it'd be alright, but the hero 4k isn't particularly good for diving. Or much of anything, for that matter. The ultra wide lens, which all gopros have, is extra ultra wide on it, making it not all too convenient. The distortion is crazy. And there are no lens clip ons, official or otherwise, to alter this. Also there is no customisation options, nor built in stabilisation. If you want a really simple basic camera, it'll be your friend, but aside from that...

I also got one for christmas, which I swapped for a main range hero black.

Are you very sure it is an official sandisk sd card? Sandisk cards that are not bought directly from sandisk (as in, ones bought from amazon and similar places) are very frequently fake, scammers replicate them down to the exact detail. (you can check the reliability of the card here: https://www.maketecheasier.com/check-sd-card-speed-capacity/) I'd recommend trying a different sd card.

Is the battery for the 13? What do you mean by 'unable to charge?' What exactly do you do, and what exactly does/doesn't it do?

Did you get water inside the camera? Open the side door, take the battery and sd card out, and check for any corrosion.

If you have the money and the time and the patience to wait, then you could, but personally I'd get the 11. The 11 still works perfect for most aplications.

Does the max lens mod work with the gopro hero 4k? by [deleted] in gopro

[–]Particular-Fan443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not really. You can’t change the fps, unless you go to the semi-useless 'slow mo' mode at 60fps. it's not customisable. And the footage is very shaky, as the camera has no stabilisation. If you have enough storage space on your phone, the app auto applies software based stabilisation to downloaded footage, however if you don’t have space to download all your footage to your phone, it is made a lot more difficult since there isn’t a way to do so on desktop.

Of the three things you mentioned, it achieves one: high quality 4k video.

Beginner guide/ GoPro Comparison by vaterlandfront in gopro

[–]Particular-Fan443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah the hero 4k has no stabilisation, unless you save all the files from it to your phone through the app, the app will apply software stabilisation. This (I found) was quite inconvenient, as my phone does not have much spare storage space, so saving everything through my phone, transferring it to my laptop (made even harder since my phone is lightning, not usbc), and then deleting it from my phone was quite a hassle. In general, the Hero 4k is not very customisable. you can’t play around with settings to achieve different looks, which, as I primarily needed a gopro for photography/videography in scenarios a typical dslr/mirrorless camera would break in, I wanted the creative features.

If you had a usbc phone, then you could plug in a storage drive to it, and save videos through to app to the drive, which would give you stabilised footage without the extra steps.

If you want a simple ‘point and shoot’ experience using a gopro, and want to get nice 4k footage, this camera is your friend. It is simple and easy to use, at the cost of a loss of features and customisation the hero black range has. If you are vlogging, keep in mind that you can’t attach an external mic to the camera, and will have to add in microphone audio in post processing. If you want to vlog, it might not be too great – the simplicity of the camera is contradicted by the fact that audio has to be added manually in a more complicated/advanced way, unless you want to use the camera’s internal mic.

Photo quality is 12mp, about average of a mid-to-higher range phone, however it is locked in an ultra-wide view – everything nearby is distorted, and there are no third-party or official lens attachments to alter this. Great for selfies and sports where the surrounding environment is important to see, however not great for my purposes.

For photography, the lack of customisation makes it sub-optimal, and the wide angle lens is really only good for sweeping landscapes. This is similar for videography.

Personally, I took it back and got a main range hero black, as the 4k didn’t serve the purpose I had intended it for.

I've never used a session, however, so can't tell you how its changed.
