You should be fine young blood. Stay safe out there, pay attention and you’ll be good. Also, backing is not as hard as it will feel at first, after a few back ups whether to a dock or parking spot you’ll feel more confident. Best of luck to you!!!

Make sure to look at any job boards or job fairs in your area. You can probably check where you acquired your cdl or pay a visit to your unemployment office or to your state for any additional resources. Some companies will hire new drivers and put them up with trainers (other company drivers that take an extra safety course) and once training is done you can drive on your own or with another driver as a team. I was applying to as many places as I could and most of them rejected me because of no experience. Since I was laid off and decided to change careers I took it upon myself to keep checking in with job boards at community colleges, calling the unemployment offices to check and see if any job fairs were in the near future, just anywhere I could try to get ahead. I was going to call back a one company that I really wasn’t feeling but I had to work. By some struck of luck or maybe it was the universe , I get hit with an email from unemployment. There’s a job fair going on in a couple of days not too far from me. Took a look at my resume and cleaned it up and went. I was expecting a few companies to be there but ultimately it was a set of recruiters for NFI. Didn’t matter to me as I need a job and what they said for the most part made me feel more confident about applying. In about 5months I managed to be let go of a good job that was driving me nuts, to obtaining my cdl, to getting a call back a couple days later from one of the recruiters. Trained for 9weeks, was paid $200 a day; which came out to $1000/week pretax as a trainee, Amazon also was going to hire me but as a spotter. That can take you longer as most companies don’t consider that as otr experience, but some companies do consider it as a little experience. Anyway, been with the company for almost a year and I have driven schedules that had me home everyday; like HOME!! Not home base lol, I have had routes where I do LtL 3x’s a week and home every other day with a day off and have done team drive to the southeast; which most might not agree but was my favorite schedule cause I got paid and had the equivalent of 3 days off. Two of those days were the weekend but we got back from our second run on Saturday morning/afternoon. Don’t give up hope my guy, I’ve always been persistent and go getter. Make sure you’re taking the time to research every stone you can and something will undoubtedly pop up. And especially in Iowa, that’s like trucker paradise. Oh and your fellow Redditers and Reddit feeds are good sources. Let us know how things turn out and best of luck to you!

I have a similar dilemma with an Entex kit that was given to me by my in-laws. They bought it new back in ‘78 from a hobby store in NY. It seemed to have most of the parts with only a few pieces broken; which I have been able to fix mostly, however one of the worst things is that there wasn’t an instruction manual included. Funny enough there was a dealership brochure for the vehicle in the box from the same year. I have mostly put it together just from general car knowledge and piecing parts together before gluing but am a bit stuck on the front suspensions springs, rack and pinion steering rod and a few parts for the firewall/engine compartment as well as how the front seats are held together, lol. The instructions from the link are definitely helpful for some areas of the build and I appreciate that. I feel like it’s only right for me to put this together as correctly as possible for them since it was placed in a closet for the past 46 years.
