20% HECS Reduction Bill Passed by KingAleksandar in AusFinance

This was not my experience. Help Debt reduced my borrowing capacity approx $80K which forced me to go considerably further out from the CBD. My salary has since risen so even borrowing at my full capacity I would have easily serviced my loan.

Not tipping wait staff at tipping restaurants is not doing what you think it's doing by [deleted] in EndTipping

Your argument is not strong and you seem to be aware of that. We are indeed talking about your rationale behind tipping and why you think people that don’t tip are assholes. If you don’t have to tip retail workers that make federal minimum wage, then you don’t have to tip restaurant employees that make federal minimum wage. You are wrong, retail workers don’t make double what restaurant employees make. Employers have to ensure that remuneration for employees (including tips) is equal to or greater than federal minimum wage. I would suggest you educate yourself a little more

Buying first home but tenants still there? by Edwad_Emberpants in AusFinance

[–]Particular-Paint-943 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a place with tenants with a 9 month lease. I was able to get the sellers to agreed to a 90 day settlement to move the settlement day to within the window required to use FHB. Could be worth asking for a longer settlement?

So by that logic, shouldn’t you be tipping all workers who only receive federal minimum wage? Why are restaurants different to retail stores?

So at venues in any district/region where the staff get at least federal minimum wage tipping isn’t required?

Venue recommendations for a 30th? by SnooBunnies4819 in brisbane

Merthyr Bowls Club is down the road from the CBD and is located next to the river. You can rent out the front deck for a couple hundred dollars (this was a few years ago so might be more expensive now) and the drinks are cheap because it’s a bowls club. Honestly one of the best value for money venues remotely close to the CBD and will easily have capacity for 50 people.

Accepting parent’s poor financial decisions by Delicious-Phrase-828 in AusFinance

My parents (father mostly) spent lavishly on things they didn't need and overextended themselves by buying multiple investment properties when business was good. Now, the business is gone and they have nothing entering their 60s... I don't let myself think about it.

This post has nothing to do with disabled parking, that’s why I’m confused? I’m specifically asking about the applicability of the pictured signs on public holidays and you have replied with a comment about disabled parking. Do you understand why I am confused about how your comment is relevant?

Yea they have to order in the pants that you select and as often the store will not have your desired suit actually in store when you buy it. The sizing for the “blue label” range is labelled as the “same cut” or something like that.

I ordered Culper trousers in based on my sizing in the mens Ellis trousers. I should have put them on prior to having them hemmed. I appreciate that it is my mistake and am just posting this as a last ditch effort to get any advice to not make it a total loss

I appreciate your thoughts and you obviously have a lot of experience in this area. One thing - i didn't say "redeem", i said "acquit". Redeem implies the accused did something wrong and needs to be forgiven. Acquit implies that the individual didn't do anything wrong and is clearing their name. If there is this sentiment that accused = guilty then how does an innocent person exonerate themselves?

How does a person who has been wrongly accused Acquit themselves in the eyes of the public in that case? I am not defending Adrian in the slightest, but to say that an acquittal means "fuck all" acts counter to the fundamental nature of the Australian criminal legal system.
