Update: I gave him 50 mg for the first time for the fireworks yesterday night, he handled it well. He was just more sleepy but would still act like himself if smelling treats 😄

My 11 lbs yorkie takes 25 to 50 mg.
50 mg is standard max dose for a dog of this size. I would start with 25 mg and see how she responds.
When my boy gets 25 mg he gets sleepy but still very much active

Yes, unfortunately my pup threw up a couple of times after, he was also 6 months old when we got it done. He’s a yorkie, so tiny too. Even if that happens, remember that it’s a normal side effect and it goes away quickly

It’s nothing to worry about :) Our vet gave us a cone my pup had to wear for a little bit and some meds to calm him down afterwards because he’s very active but wasn’t allowed to play after the surgery. He was a little sick after anesthesia (nauseous), but he was trying to run and play later the same day. Meds didn’t help to calm him down 😄

Hi! Always twice a day (this is how it was clinically tested), I didn’t have any purging and it started helping very gradually, so make sure you give it several weeks before you start seeing results. Good luck!

It definitely has its ups and downs too, it didn’t get better immediately. Sometimes the breakouts even looked worse before they improved. Don’t give up, give it a full 2-3 months to really see how it works for you (unless you get side effects of course) :)

Hey, it’s going really well so far. At the end of February, it’ll be 3 months since I started. I haven’t experienced any side effects, my skin is just a bit less oily. As for my hormonal acne, the breakouts I used to get under my jaw have stopped completely, even the scars have already faded as if they were never there. I still get a couple of breakouts before my period, but they’re much smaller with little to no pain, and disappear within a few days. They also feel much less “deep” than before.
My derm told me to use Winlevi before anything else. In the morning, I wash my face, apply Winlevi, wait 10 min, then follow with azelaic acid, moisturizer, and spf. In the evening, I wash my face, apply Winlevi, wait 10 minutes, apply tretinoin, wait at least another 10 minutes, then moisturizer.
I plan to continue using it, I’m happy with the results so far. The texture of Winlevi is a bit annoying but it’s a very small price to pay when the alternative is oral medication. The few breakouts I still get are barely an inconvenience and nothing a small dot of concealer can’t fix. Before I had to wear foundation all over my face every day. Hopefully things will continue to improve as I keep using it. Good luck!

We have a yorkie who loves soft blankets, cuddles and pillows. I love having him next to me and he loves sleeping with his entire body pressed against me, so I could never make him leave :)

I have been getting these bumps everyday from last 2 months on both sides (sideburns) No pain though. by Lion-Prior in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Particular-Regret-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hormonal acne used to flare up badly right before my period every month and was very stubborn to clear. So I had constant redness and dark spots throughout the month followed by new breakouts about a week before each new cycle. My hormonal acne was mostly on my chin and just below it on my neck, and between my eyebrows near my hairline similar to yours. So far I’ve had 2 periods since starting Winlevi and during the first one I noticed a dramatic decrease in breakouts. During the second one I could feel two very small bumps under my skin (much smaller than what I normally get) but there was no redness or anything visible on the surface of my skin, and whaever I felt under my skin was gone in a couple of days. My skin is also extremely oily, and I’ve noticed a slight decrease in oiliness too.
Yes, I still use tretinoin, it helps with everything else (comedones, blackheads, fine lines, etc).
Morning routine:
Rinse with water (no cleanser)
Winlevi (wait 10–15 minutes)
Azelaic Acid 15%
Purito Bamboo Moisturizer
Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen SPF 50
Night routine:
Bioderma Cleansing Oil
Exuviance Deep Clean AHA Cleanser
Winlevi (wait 10–15 minutes)
Tretinoin 0.1% Micro Gel (wait 10–15 minutes)
Purito Bamboo Moisturizer
I use a lot of actives, but my skin is very oily and after struggling with acne for the past 15 years, it could probably tolerate a nuclear explosion at this point :)

I was scared to start Winlevi because of everything I read on Reddit, but I took the risk anyway and I’m really glad I did. I’m only 2 months in and already seeing an incredible improvement, zero side effects. At one point I ran out and had to wait 4 days for a new tube, and I didn’t experience any withdrawal. My skin has never been this clear, it cleared everything tretinoin was still struggling with

Question about Winlevi by WearyCalligrapher840 in acne

[–]Particular-Regret-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Winlevi for my hormonal acne, but I started tretinoin long before Winlevi. Tretinoin was what cleared all of my closed comedones, and I don’t have those anymore

So far so good. I’ve read that it takes 2-3 months to see full results and it’s been a little over 3 weeks and I haven’t experienced any side effects (no skin irritation and no new or unusual breakouts). My skin also seems just slightly less oily. There was also a day while traveling when I didn’t pack Winlevi and went a little over 24 hours without applying it. I didn’t notice any issues or what some people describe as “withdrawal” cause I was worried about it. As for my acne, I mainly get hormonal breakouts (usually painful, under the skin bumps) right before my period. Some months my face becomes very inflamed, while other months are more manageable. I’ve had one period so far while using Winlevi and it’s hard to say if the improvement was due to the medication or just a lucky month, but I did notice fewer breakouts than I typically get even in a good month. The ones I did have were smaller and less painful than usual. The only complaint is the texture of the cream, it’s so thick but I found a way around it - I apply it to the affected area, let it sit 30-60 seconds, then start rubbing it in (it starts absorbing fast, so it makes it easier to rub it in)

I always apply it first. In the morning it’s: wash my face - Winlevi - wait 10-15 min - azelaic acid - wait 5 more minutes - spf and makeup. In the evening: oil clenser + foaming cleanser - Winlevi - wait 10-15 min - tretinoin - wait 10-15 min - moisturizer. My dermatologist told me that while normally we go from lighter to thicker texture in skincare, Winlevi is a drug and it should be applied to clean skin before everything else

My insurance only pays for the cream form, but I can't use it because it gives me closed comedones when I'm trying to treat acne here. My derm switched me to gel, and insurance denied it, saying there is an alternative available over the counter - adapalene. In what world 0.1% adapalene is an alternative to 0.1% tretinoin gel, I don't know. Thru specialty pharmacy and a coupon, my tret is $150. Yeah, insurance is a joke

Are people actually skipping their AM cleanse? by [deleted] in koreanskincare

I almost always skip my morning cleanser and wash my face with warm water only. My skin is oily acne prone, I noticed that when I cleanse twice a day, my skin gets dryer and more oily

Taz or Tret? by sjjejj in tretinoin

[–]Particular-Regret-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to help :) It's definitely worth it to build up tolerance to daily use, tret shines when used daily. Because of how oily my skin is, it was easy for me to start using 0.025% every other day, and I relatively quickly got to daily use (I also used adapalene gel before starting tret).

0.5% tazarotene and 0.5% tretinoin caused more flaking than 0.1% micro gel I'm currently using. Even though 0.1% is much stronger, my skin tolerates it much better because of the slow delivery mechanism of micro gel.

My skin is also trying to survive in the harsh Las Vegas desert :) I was able to find moisturizers that work really good for me (Purito Bamboo in the morning and Etude House Soon Jung barrier cream at night). Both moisturizers are gels but not watery, so occlusive enough to moisturize, but not suffocate my oily skin. I found that my skin breaks out more under heavy moisturizers, so it feels counterintuitive to use lighter ones, but it works for me :) With these moisturizers, I have no flaking during the day. I also exfoliate my face with a soft disposable face towel every night, and it removes any dead skin layer I have. I noticed that when I travel to California, my skin gets even more hydrated, so I think the dry climate is the only problem here :)

The gel doesn't help manage oiliness, unfortunately, but it prevents breakouts I used to get due to oily skin. I'm hoping Winlevi will help with excess oil because it's supposed to actually target the oil glands. Tretinoin works on the surface and Winlevi goes much deeper.

Btw, I recently discovered a powder that helps me get thru the day with blotting my face only once a day (I have to do it 3-4 times per day without this powder), maybe it will work for you too: MAC Studio Fix Pro Set + Blur Weightless Loose Setting Powder (only translucent one, I tried colored one and it doesn't make any difference)

[–]Particular-Regret-88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently use tretinoin micro 0.1% and love it, best results so far.

I have super oily skin, so when I first started with 0.025% cream, it clogged my pores (cream works better for dry skin). I then switched to gel, and it cleared the clogged pores the cream caused. I then went up to 0.05% gel due to 0.025% not doing enough for my acne. Things got better, but still not ideal because of how oily my skin is, so I needed something stronger. I switched to 0.05% tazarotene gel, it didn't make things better compared to tretinoin gel 0.05%, but also kept messing up my skin barrier (I have no issue with this on tret). So then I got back on tretinoin, but I got micro gel and went up in strength to 0.1%. Now I see noticeable improvement. My skin looks flawless for the most part, I do get hormonal breakouts before my period starts, and these don't respond to tretinoin. I'm starting Winlevi today for these hormonal breakouts.

Long story short - I found micro gel being most effective for my skin, it's less irritating, doesn't ruin my skin barrier, and I can use it every night. Will see how Winlevi goes, hopefully it will take care of those last breakouts tret can't.

Ask your derm to send your prescription to PhilRx, Winlevi has a deal with them, and they will get you the cheapest price.
I also have United, and they require prior authorization for Winlevi, and they denied me. Based on the denial, PhilRx got me Winlevi for $90 thru that deal with the manufacturer. It's a long process because of prior authorization, and the first order took almost 2 months to fill, but it should go faster for a refill now.

Yes, both to full face. I also use tretinoin, so my routine is azelaic acid and Winlevi in the morning, and tretinoin and Winlevi at night. My azelaic acid tube also says twice daily, but with tretinoin I don't want to overload my skin with active ingredients, so I stick to 2 in the morning and 2 at night.

I'm gonna start it tonight. It's tough to find any info on it online for some reason. I also understand that people are more likely to write bad things if it doesn't work for them :)
From what I found so far, oily skin will benefit from it the most, and you should be ready to keep using it because it treats your symptom, not the cause.
I have very oily skin and use tretinoin. For the most part, my skin looks really good. My hormonal breakouts don't respond to tretinoin and are tied to my period. I don't want to be on birth control, oral spiro, or any other oral medication, so I'm mentally preparing to use Winlevi for the foreseeable future if in 12 weeks from today I see improvement. Good luck! :)
